@Gznongo I remember them saying that he had 400 amateur fights... he fights like it.
4
@decidingpaper6324 Off the top of my head, the only remarkable one was the 1, Takuma. Salapat's record is definitely a matter of quantity over quality.
4
@avtobus1234 It wasn't. Brant won it 11-1 twice and 10-2. Landed twice the amount of punches.
4
Estrada - Valle in 2023!
4
@decidingpaper6324 Takei should find a way to beat Higa. If Higa comes in good though, I wouldn't be shocked if Takei had to get off the floor to do it.
4
Interesting that he'd take a puncher after what happened in the Wood fight. Marriaga was decent at his best and he's past it, but he may still have a decent punch.
4
They had fought in that World Series thing and Guido gave him all kinds of problems. I wasn't surprised he did so well in this fight and I expect him to give Torrez problems as well.
4
Gained a lot of respect for Mayer in this one because she could have moved and outboxed Hamadouche from the outside, but she stood right in front of Hamadouche her best shot at winning and still took the fight.
4
@Jcc1roar Fine, I have no problem with Casimero. But if he is to become world champion, it's not going to be at bantamweight. He can fight Tapales if he wants now.
4
@janizavillapaz962 Then You and I saw a much different fight, but that's okay.
4
@decidingpaper6324 I think Mbilli - Iglesias would be a fight to do when Canelo splits up those belts for a vacant title. I also think Silyagin would be a good fight for Mbilli. I think Mbilli beats him with room to spare, but Silyagin, when he's on his game, has very good skills.
4
@shrimpfist Fair, but whoever described it as "perfect mistake" got it right for me.
4
@ Juanma? I don't think Juanma had a very good chin. He was in his 20's against Mtagwa and probably even still against Slaido.
4
I completely agree and guys usually don't fix their defense. Especially not at 29 years old and a multiple time world champion. He can certainly make some adjustments, but I think Tanaka is what he is at this point.
4
@johnny_truth Yep. That's exactly what he did. Got three nice wins in about six months and now he's getting a title shot!
4
@decidingpaper6324 I'm thinking they probably looked at Gill (and I'd agree) and said that if we can't beat him and we're trying to be a champion, then it's time to pack it in, well.... bout that time. I think Conlan's career was/is in that same pattern though. If he does come back, maybe get a win or two (maybe not), then get knocked out again, but when those losses start coming in supposed rebuild fights, you REALLY need to reconsider.
4
I fall asleep and wake to a literally IMPOSSIBLE result. Yep. That's the upset of the year.
4
Salapat actually did better than I thought he might but he had no chance when Nakatani opened up.
4
@decidingpaper6324 Yeah! You knew it was coming if he kept fighting but, like you said, no one had done it yet, so well played Polanco.
4
The last I heard, Alvarez was moving to cruiserweight. But he'll be 39 in April and he hasn't had a fight in two years so I don't expect much from him now, but we'll see if he comes back.
4
Arguably the greatest small fight of all time.
4
@E.Carrillo Definitely hope that's the case but even if it is, he'll be 37 in a couple of months and it looks like 2024 is about to be the 5th consecutive year where Crawford's only fought once.
4
jasonvoorhees5640 Martinez, Margarito, Mosley, Judah, Clottey, Malignaggi - he had some really good wins did Cotto.
4
Went the distance with a guy who was about to be world champion in his last fight. Baez is definitely not great, but he is definitely a solid guy. This is very impressive.
4
There's no bantamweight for him to fight anymore. Between the top 3 contenders, Moloney, Donaire and Rodriguez, Inoue's stopped them all and I think Fulton is headed to featherweight so maybe two belts will be vacant soon. However, Kazuto Ioka fights Joshua Franco in a unification at 115 on NYE. If Ioka wins that fight and decides to move up; Inoue - Ioka is a huge fight, especially in Japan. Maybe he'd stick around for that one.
4
Yeah, if he gets hit that much against Nakathila, he'll lose the fight. Nakathila can be kind of stiff, however. He's a little predictable, but we'll see.
4
If he beats Vianello, I hope they don't do Makhmudov - Ajagba. I think they should test Jalolov against Makh.
4
Got some classics in here: Including one of the worst stoppages in the history of the sport, Jeremy Williams STRANGELY dropping his hands and staring at Sam Peter for some reason and Derrick Jefferson & Maurice Harris beating the absolute hell out of each other before Jefferson landed one of the single hardest punches of all time. Well done!
4
@BlackKingSole Haney is much bigger than Venado.
4
Ramirez is a warrior, I do not think he is afraid of Prograis. I think Regis beats him, but maybe they do fight someday and Ramirez proves me wrong. I just think he looks at Prograis as a big fight and a risky fight and wants to get as much money out of it as he possibly can. A ton of people will look at it as him ducking the fight, but so be it. They're entitled to their opinion and the fight will HOPEFULLY still happen someday.
4
@decidingpaper6324 I thought it would have been on the undercard for one of Pacquiao's fights in Macao, but I was wrong. I think the main event was Gallo - Viloria. Melindo... top 15-20ish from Philippines?? Is that too high for him? That was a great shot! Right on the chin but Seran was out of his league in this one.
4
@decidingpaper6324 He drops his hands, he falls and, maybe it's just me.... but does he not look like he's going in SLOW MOTION??? It looks like he's fighting in 30fps.
4
I still think this one is a little overrated. He hit him and then kind of pushed his head as well and Ibeh was done so he went down and the stoppage was good. But this isn't a concussive, devastating knockout imo. Anderson's the goods though for me and I'm sure he'll have a bunch of those over the years.
4
@TheeBlazik3nBoxing I saw that in more than one place (including Ring Magazine), I think it's the truth. He's also already fought since then though.
4
I think that Lt. Dan called it a day after that card. Good call! And I wonder if whoever PETA'd Sandy Ryan thinks they helped Mayer win that fight.
4
@miracleboyboxing Yep, you're probably right. Best since Clottey. Agbeko was a pretty good one as well.
4
@ He just moved up to flyweight and he's 33 years old. I can't imagine he's going to move up much further, and even if he does, how he performs against bigger opponents at the tail end of his prime (or probably completely after his prime by that point) won't be Kenshiro's legacy.
4
If he is killing himself to make 160, might be a good time to jump on Janibek. Still think he wins this one though.
3
@normandoughty8737 He most certainly did; but damn that man could fight.
3
@normandoughty8737 In terms of natural ability - not what he did with it, but just a NATURAL gift for the sport: I completely agree with you. Freddie Roach LOVES Manny Pacquiao and he's been around forever. You ask him who's the best fighter he ever worked with, he'll tell you James Toney.
3
@SigiCoria-cd9vg Sure. Usyk could beat Jalolov.
3
@decidingpaper6324 I don't even know if I'd have a name for him. He's 20 years old. 5-0. No. There's no reason at all for him to be fighting a known guy at this point. Keep him on the same diet that he's currently on. I will say that the Bonilla bros are fighting tonight. Could definitely see him fighting one of them at some point in the future if everyone pans out.
3
@jesv4026 I don't even know where to start with you. Aside from saying I watch Muay Thai on Fridays, LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE you've said is incorrect. Boxing is and has always been my favorite sport. I've watched it my entire life and I also participated when I was a kid. I didn't start watching Muay Thai until I was an adult and I have never said MT (or anything else) is better than boxing. Oh, AND I'M NOT A "HE".
3
@Supersupremegang That's fine, you are entitled to feel how you feel, but he was also only two pounds less than he was in his last fight; and I could be wrong but I THINK I recall them saying in the Diaz fight that he was closer to his natural weight. He had previously fought heavier because he had to work a full time job and rarely got the benefit of a full camp.
3
@decidingpaper6324 I think it was directly the second fight, but the two refs were father & son if I recall correctly and he accused them both.
3
Tommy Fury is terrible. I expect Jake Paul to win this fight. I think Anderson Silva might beat Tommy Fury.
3
Mayer and Terri Harper and Natasha Jonas all went up in weight to look for titles because Katie Taylor & Chantelle Cameron had 135 and 140 locked up. It's fine when they're fighting each other, but there's some girls up there, like Ryan and Lauren Price, who're naturally bigger and can fight.
3
@TM--87 Yeah, I was really disappointed when he Valdez got injured. I saw it on the schedule and said that would be an early Fight of The Year candidate. Arum came out and said that he expected the winner of this one to fight Valdez so, HOPEFULLY, we still get it later this year.
3
@decidingpaper6324 Probably forgot to pack his glasses when he left for the fight. I'd forgotten all about that!
3
Baez just moved up to featherweight. If the weight isn't too much for him, this should be a really good fight.
