Would have liked to have seen her continue, but she was probably running out of feasible options. The biggest fight for her in the weight class she's in or the one below or the one up is a rematch with Yoka Valle. Besides that, Estrada probably would have had to go up to 112 to get a big fight and that opponent would probably be too big for her (might be Fundora). In any case, she was a two weight world champion, once undisputed and beat her two major rivals. In a few years, i think Super Bad joins Finito and Iron Boy as the only fighters to prime at strawweight in the HOF.

I wonder if he was shaking his hand back then, lets see..... nope. i don't see any shaking.
3
I thoroughly enjoy it and I think it's an excellent way to promote a fight. You see what they're doing with the ads for Riyadh Season? They never would have done that type of thing just a few years ago and now people look forward to it about as much as anything ahead of the actual fight. This is nice to me! Too long its been the same.... THISGUY vs THATGUY, push and fake fight at the press conference and weigh in and that was that. Time to try something different imo.
3
@ That's fine. Different strokes for different folks.
3
@louduva9849 I do too, but I was surprised to learn that Segundo was related to Carlos Gongora recently.
3
I remember thinking Nova had a chance to win that fight. That was a fine performance by Ramirez.
3
@decidingpaper6324 Sure it did. Wouldn't be human if didn't.
3
@exnihilio89 MSM - Johnson was the kind of fight that seemed like those guys probably peeled a few months off of each other's lives. Just a savage fight.
3
@riku528 So they're trying to play it safe until he comes up? That is terrible. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if Ball's next fight was Conlan.
3
@riku528 Absolutely not. They do that - what if he decides to stay at 122? WHAT IF HE LOSES???
3
Torrez - Babic someday.
3
Estrada - Yoka Valle after this one. Great fight!
3
@decidingpaper6324 Well history may never know the answer to that question. We do, however, know what he was NOT doing... what he was supposed to be doing; or maybe he just REALLY disliked Tommy Morrison!
3
Floyd did have a really good chin and, more importantly, he knew how to behave when he was hurt. People don't talk about it because he rarely needed it lol.
3
@unlimiTedpower249 Yeah, I heard Zayas say that. It certainly explains his fight. His head wasn't into it and it shouldn't have been.
3
@tiqchamboy That'd be fine but I think Bam might be at 115 a minute, trying to unify as well.
3
@decidingpaper6324 It was THE first thing that went through my mind when I saw it. I was sitting there googling to see whether Ryan had history of wearing fur 😄
3
@decidingpaper6324 160 isn't the best division, there's maybe only one or two guys I'd like see get a shot at Janibek to present an interesting fight, but I REALLY don't think he finds someone who can stop him from doing it until/unless he gets to 168.
3
@dougchan8161 I know about Kenshiro, but Kenshiro's 31 years old. He's older than Inoue - he's in Inoue's and Ioka's 'class' to in my opinion. He doesn't have 'next', he has 'now'.
3
Commey can be really basic and predictable, but if you overlook him, that guy has an EXCELLENT right hand and his hook isn't bad either. So glad he became world champion during his career.
3
@decidingpaper6324 Oh yeah okay, I remember. We were just talking about him a few days ago now. Well, they did good by him; got a couple of upsets on TB and got this fight. I'm sure he got a nice payday and he deserved it.
3
@decidingpaper6324 Yeah, that's a good point, they might. He's 29, this is the only time he's been stopped, probably has another few years of being a dependable journeyman. Yeah, maybe he can make a home testing GB prospects, knocking off a few of them as well.
3
I think Francis was WBO top ten not too long ago.
2
@alvindavis4158 Yeah. I remember reading that he had an unusually large heart and that JC Chavez had an abnormally thick skull. Sometimes people go their entire lives without finding anything that they're good at, these guys found EXACTLY what they were supposed to be doing.
2
@alvindavis4158 Barrera was like he had the answers against Hamed. He already knew what he was going to do - literally ducking before he even threw the punch. Ducking out of the way of those crazy uppercuts Hamed had because he knew the exact angle they were coming at. If they fought 10 times, maybe Hamed lands something crazy and wins once, but I'd pick Barrera every time. Nice talking to you Alvin.
2
@decidingpaper6324 He's probably in the conversation for being THE best journeyman of all time. I can only think of one or two who became world champion. At least in modern times.
2
@decidingpaper6324 STEVE ROBINSON! Yep! Great pick, definitely!
2
@decidingpaper6324 Saoul Mamby, Jeff Lampkin, Glen Johnson. Just fantastic fighters.
2
Maybe too heavy? If this actually goes rounds it might not be pretty to watch.
2
This is an awesome fight! Leaning Mayer but it could go either way imo.
2
Bredahl was a decent fighter. He was out of his depths here and his brother was a little more talented imo, but Jimmi had a pretty good career.
2
@decidingpaper6324 I agree with you about Curtis, literally almost NO danger there for him. But I would probably get him to... 8,9-0 before I'm even remotely interested in testing him. GENERALLY SPEAKING, Top Rank is good with building prospects. They obviously dropped it with Flores and I don't think they did any favors to Berlanga either, but he did end up getting his money.
2
@decidingpaper6324 Oh hell! I just realized who that was! Loon! Wth
2
@MichaelBoamah Well ideally she'd fight one and the other two would fight each other. She's talking about trying to unify the division. That would do it.
2
@morgan7886 I wouldn't consider myself a "fan" of Gonzalez', he's fun to watch though, but I'm a much bigger admirer of Venado's. What he's managed to do in picking up the sport when he did is amazing imo.
2
He'll always be compared to his brother and it'll never come out in his favor but I like Takuma and thought this was a fine performance. Ishida's a good fighter and he's been in with some very good guys as well.
2
He did well for himself at heavyweight, but I always wonder what would have happened had Michael Moorer stayed at 175.
2
@decidingpaper6324 Yeah I just looked it up. That was nasty.
2
@decidingpaper6324 I thought Martinez was going to be pretty good. I think he's a legit puncher, but he's pretty light on the actual skills.
2
@dsvco.8559 That's a good one and it's close, but if I had to pick who was better Barrios or Nakatani, I'd probably say Barrios.
2
@decidingpaper6324 And he gets in shape! Guy started his career in the 270's and these days weighs in the 230's.
2
Despite what he did against Roy, Reggie Johnson was a terrific fighter. What he did to William Guthrie is one of my favorite knockouts ever and even hitting James Toney clean was a big deal at times and he had him in legitimately bad shape for a bit. And I always thought Famoso's knockdown was fine. Floyd, in his brittle hand days, hit him on the forehead and turned away from the fight. I got no problem with the ref giving him a count for that.
2
@decidingpaper6324 Seriously. How does it like NOT HIT ANYONE ELSE AT ALL? It doesn't even come close. All those people around and they're all in motion but NOPE. That full chair hits no one at all besides Steve Smoger.
2
@decidingpaper6324 If he WAS actually paid off, I'd like to think he'd have more sense than to make it SOOOOOO obvious! You at least have to give a couple of rounds the other way.
2
@JeromeColeman-tv6bs I can't even do a tenth of what he's doing, but I'm not a professional athlete. This was also a year ago and my opinion has changed since then. I've seen "a bit more" and I'm convinced now.
2
@decidingpaper6324 Leo - Kameda is good stuff.
2
@decidingpaper6324 Yeah, seems like you're right. Definitely not a good idea. You'd think they'd be as careful as possible. That's Chute Boxe madness.
2
@ No. Anyone who'll give him some type of resistance. I would think he'd come back against someone not so difficult, but after that...Cordova? Sandoval? Any of those guys would be just fine. Bomba isn't as good as Calderon was imo, but I remember hearing about how popular Nene Sanchez used to be in PR and I think he's every bit as good as Nene was and you could make the argument that Nene was top 10-15 in strawweight history.
2
@decidingpaper6324 I forgot about Rivera - Cordova. They announced it before the main event. I think that's Berlanga's card. Bomba defended against Santiago as his last defense at 108 and then vacated and moved up to fight Olascuaga for his belt. Charunphak would be a good one coming off a title shot, same for Apolinario. Mendoza would be an interesting one as well. Wonder if they'd look at Bomba as an opportunity to get a ko on a former world champion or if they'd deem him still too big of a risk. Some of those guys though would be potentially high risk low reward. Gotta think he's thinking of his easiest way to one more shot at this point. There's A LOT of Filipinos down there now that you list them all out like that!
2
@decidingpaper6324 Yeah! Works for me! Still on Berlanga's card and Berlanga's still without an opponent.
