  1. This is a ridiculous claim. I have never heard anyone ever blame Shannan for what Chris did. The ones commenting that this woman may have taken part in her son's death may have seen the full story elsewhere like I did. It's kind of suspicious.

  4.  @alphabet_soup123  Right? Parents have the power to foster so much love or create so much disharmony...and then that is usually passed on down the line. Parents can't be made to pass a course since that would interfere with their personal rights, but it is crazy how a license is mandatory for driving, but anyone can become a parent. 😳 I'd like to see society learn more about psychology and the impact of child rearing, like you described. People often put others in categories while actually, mental health is quite complex. We all would have turned out differently if we had been raised in a different environment.

  6. This is a very sweet story. Many don't have such nice endings and many never even know they were adopted. No offense to this woman, but "God" didn't do anything here. If he did, then he made a mess of just about everything except for her name. Of course it is totally possible for her to be named the same as her birth mother named her. That's not unheard of. Sure, it doesn't happen most of the time, but that's what chance means. To say this was some kind of sign is a huge stretch and doesn't take into consideration all the hard work it took to find her mother.

  9.    Sometimes the arguing gets really old. However, if there was never an honest rebuttal, comments like "Love and science with God's grace are amazing" would stand alone. Some of us feel passionate about society working through antiquated fantasy ideas and embracing reality. It sure would be nice if it were done more compassionately though, from both sides.

  13.  @player24361  That's not what hard data shows. I've seen it for myself. Check stats from the FBI and Bureau Of Justice. There has been extensive research done by Heather McDonald and Roland Fryer, neither of which found any bias by police. It's critical to look at the data for yourself.

  15. ​ @kwixotic  No one would ever say that. Any rational adult realizes that growing up in a highly dysfunctional family doesn't automatically create a "moral monster". However, nearly every "moral monster" grew up in a dysfunctional home and experienced childhood trauma. Brains often develop according to the environment, which is how some kids grow up devoid of empathy.

Just to clarify, I don't believe in the bible, but I'm very familiar with it because I was a believer for most of my life. I can point out principals, claims, and contradictions just like I could with anything else. If it's true, it should stand alone. 3. I'm not sure what was meant by "people like you are the worst". Maybe you could explain. 4. You can state that you believe there is a hell and there is sin and I can state that I am not convinced of such things. I can't help what I believe. I am no longer affected by the tradition I grew up in and no longer consider feelings as evidence. I sought out information and weighed the facts to come to the conclusions I have. What evidence do you have to back up your claims? 5. You mentioned that God knows our hearts and the killers (I don't think they were traffickers) wouldn't make it into heaven, but that's not necessarily what the bible says. The bible says people don't get to heaven by their behavior and there's only one way and that's through accepting Jesus. Well, if that killer accepted Jesus as his savior, he would go to heaven according to the bible. When Jesus said "depart from me", he was speaking of people relying on their good behavior, not people like these killers. Also, unless Natalee specifically accepted Jesus, according to the bible, she would not go to heaven. Of course I don't believe that, but that's what it says. By the way, I didn't claim she didn't, this is just hypothetical. But you actually made a claim. Saying "the meek shall inherit the earth" is just using one scripture used out of context which contradicts others. How are you so certain that your claims are true, especially considering they don't line up with scripture? P.S. Both scriptures you mentioned were taken out of context and do not apply in this situation.

  21. I was thinking the same thing. She comes across in an emotionless, robotic, uncaring manner. Rose got her story out nonetheless, but no doubt it could have been handled better. Stone cold is not the best way to handle asking someone to open up their most personal experiences.

  40. Although it turned out to be a hoax, you were 100% correct to say what you did. People jump to conclusions all the time, and nothing has changed. So many had this man convicted in their minds. Now the public has convicted at least five different people in the Idaho murders. We should wait for the evidence to come out instead of making assumptions.
