Her opening statement is as riveting as her hairstyle is flattering. 😳

Dear god, who keeps continually clearing their throat??
2
@gmimi2 Yes, I understand that. I'm just surprised by that .
2
 @Hope-sf3dk I agree.
1
@rachelrucker5642 Exactly! It was refreshing to hear him speak. I've always been bothered by the idea of winning or losing in court. Yes, defendants are allowed representation. But we often see attorneys going to extremes by being sneaky and playing kind of dirty. I recently heard a defense attorney say that his job is to get his client out of trouble. Wow. I find that disturbing.
1
@Seashellsbytheseashore21 Exactly. It's inaccurate to say he "went to the bathroom in the bucket" since there was no bathroom in the room.
1
@susanna8612 People like to believe that happens, but in reality, many people get away with a lot of horrible stuff... and vice versa.
1
They left a wake of death.
1
He doesn't come across as very intelligent.
1
His income doesn't have anything to do with thinking he can pull this off. Killers of all income levels think they can pull it off. They're crazy.
1
While that's all true, behavior can give clues. None of his behavior seemed to go along with that of an innocent, grieving person. Along with all of the hard evidence, body language can also be evidence to a degree. I hate to see people jump to conclusions though, like what happened in the Idaho murders. There were at least 6 publicly convicted people based on nothing but feelings.
1
The fact that adults still ask the same question over and over shows how little is understood about psychology. "Why?"
1
What a relief that the jury found her guilty!!!
1
100%

@IAmALawyerToo She goes live all the time, but I'm guessing she didn't have time to go over her notes this time. She's usually extremely well spoken.
1
@Blake1720 I'm not sure where you got the idea that I think he should be given a second chance. 🤔 He's incapable of changing at this point in his life, and I support his conviction. I'm just pointing out that it's much more complex than just the idea that he knows right from wrong. He was brainwashed.
1
What was meant by "Attitude of family" in the notes? I have only watched bits and pieces of this trial.
1
I'd like to hear from SLED about that. They were wondering if it was done purposely. However, they could have said they were going to search for clues in an attempt to find the killer (not Alec).
1
@natbb9 Oh, I see. I must have just glanced at the beginning where the comment started off with, "The boy sounds very mature..."
1
The children should come first. If nothing else, leave for their sake.
1
😂
1
@melanieboyle606 I'm not sure that would really cause an entire jury to convict him. There might be a missing part that we aren't aware of OR the jury might just be that stupid.
1
@runoz2839 I just got to the end of your comment. Oh my goodness! What a painful thing to endure, especially as a child. I really hope you're doing well. 💜
1
Barbara and Julia, very well done!! Thank you both.
1
And he only got first degree assault. Wow.
1
Wow.
1
Imagine if the judge had sustained the objections. The witness was present and heard the statements. Well, it didn't make a difference anyway. He was still found guilty. 🙄
1
Yet another journalist who says to take this information with a grain of salt while simultaneously reacting to the document as if it's true. It's good to see some of the professionals here viewing this in a logical manner.
1
😂
1
@charlottecannon314 I'm not sure why you felt the need to be salty. Also, I don't understand why you made those claims. First of all, that's not true at all. Secondly, where did I say that all abused children continue the abuse cycle?
1
That's not unusual at all. It only makes sense to move the guns after an incident like this. It was their own personal property, and there are crazy people who go on private property to view crime scenes.
1
No, he wasn't. He has ticks. He can't sit still and constantly moves all parts of his body, including his face.
1
@Wazupu It's not that easy. We're all human and make errors.
1
Seriously.
1
I thought he came across either arrogant or insincere.
1
While it was good to hear some input about some of the public's assumptions, the interview could have been handled so much better. There were a lot of unclear statements, especially from 9:30 on. I wish the reporter used better questions to guide the interview. I'd like a do-over.
1
@maryb6672 Same with me, Mary. I'm totally haunted by their last moments.
1
@heatherbarter1385 He didn't have time. They were out in the middle of nowhere, essentially, and were all just enjoying hanging out. Plus, Alec is 6'4" with a very distinct body type. I can't imagine they wouldn't recognize him. I can only imagine the horror.
1
 @heatherbarter1385 He has no conscience.
1
 @heatherbarter1385 Yep.
1
It smells like what happened to Steven Avery.
1
@PPLL463 He's not the best public speaker, that's for sure, but that doesn't make him a murderer. I'm not sure why calling witnesses to testify is seen as "parading". Either they know something or they don't. They evidently had pertinent information to share. If I were in his shoes, I'd want to testify along with everyone else.
1
After all of the severe brainwashing he has endured, and after all of the sadistic torture he has inflicted on his own brother, I'm not sure there is a chance for rehabilitation. Hopefully, he will receive therapy because he was also abused. The whole situation is horrific. That poor boy. 😥 His life was just pain and suffering. There are no gods.
1
@blitzmom2674 No matter what, locking anyone up in a room is inappropriate at best. However, it will be interesting to hear more of the story. I was just sharing what he had testified to on the stand.
1
I can guarantee some of them were mesmerized... by that hair "style". 😳
1
I'm thinking it was a manipulation tactic.
1
Seriously. 😳
1
While wealthier defendants can afford pricier attorneys, LOTS of poorer defendants get charges dropped and light sentences.
1
I can't imagine much worse. 💔
1
@alison9642Â I appreciate our legal system. That's not the issue here. It's his style of action. His schtick is anger = right. I wouldn't want him working for me.
