  9.  @steventhompson399  Keep in mind that the Soviet Union only survived against Germany early on due to all the food, ammo, tanks, planes... the Allies supplied them, as well as throwing bodies at the Germans. Russia denies this of course. 1/2 of all the casualties in WW2 were Russians. Late in the war, many Germans wanted to join the Allies against Russia. And now we have to deal with the global fallout of the spread of communism.

  10.  @White_Wrath  natural evolution has a biological imperative to be lazy (efficient). Working hard does not mean a person is not lazy. But working harder than necessary is also a form of working hard that is both unproductive and wasteful. To survive, life needs to maximize teh use of its available resources to safeguard the species. They will accomplish as much as possible with as little effort as possible. This is why giving people stuff rather than making them earn it creates problems. They are maximizing their outcomes with minimal effort, but if everyone did that, there would be no free crap to hand out to such people. Laziness is what motivates people to be more efficient, what motivates a farmer to invent the combine and tractor, what motivates a person to invent a washing machine so they can get more work done in teh same amount of time. But people these days don't understand this. They even invent things that make their lives HARDER. these people are lazy but stupid and inefficient. Lazy people who are smart and efficient is what we want.

In corporations, Marketing is one of the departments I despise working with the most. They are over funded, over staffed, over paid, and they do next to nothing for the bottom line. the rest of us do all the work while they claim all the success. A single product line might have 10 engineers total at any point that worked on it (not enough people), and they'll use 50 marketing people to sell it (this doesn't count sales people, this is just the marketing team).

  36.  @blackbird8192  You get it. I have some ideas, but the easiest would be prohibiting selling patents (use it, otherwise it becomes public domain, not letting corporations buy up patents). Maybe a limit on development. if a patent is not being developed, it expires. only letting individual people hold patents, not businesses, etc. Depends upon how you implement it. shorter patent protection periods.

  46.  @elkforests  yes. students go for the hand-holding these days though because colleges don't fail people anymore. can't get that student loan money from people if you fail them out of college. if you keep them on and they keep paying you money, you make more money. colleges no longer care about creating qualified individuals. and so students slack. you did the right thing, and so did I, but modern society doesn't reward hard work anymore.
