In corporations, Marketing is one of the departments I despise working with the most. They are over funded, over staffed, over paid, and they do next to nothing for the bottom line. the rest of us do all the work while they claim all the success. A single product line might have 10 engineers total at any point that worked on it (not enough people), and they'll use 50 marketing people to sell it (this doesn't count sales people, this is just the marketing team).

  14.  @elkforests  the Mantra C's get degrees is about teh fact that once you get past college, employers don't se your GPA, they only see your degree. and they can't tell just by looking at a person's degree what their GPA's were. And so you're competing directly with low performers who ALSO got that degree alongside you.

  15.  @stephenparry6811  Associates, Bachelors, Masters, Doctorate there are "honors" and such, and I've graduated with "honors", but it means absolutely Nothing in the workplace. the only thing that matters is RESULTS. What can you DO? and how good are you at it? Many people graduate with various honors, but they are book smart and couldn't apply what they learned in the real world to save their life. Others are amazing and do amazing work. total crap shoot. I judge people on their results, and nothing more. I value results far more than a degree even. When I was in High School I competed against college students in High Mileage vehicle competitions, bridge competitions, and more and I always trounced them, either winning outright or finishing top 3 to top 10. Surely college engineering students should have been able to beat high school kids, right? it only matters what you can do. not what credentials you can claim. Unless those credentials are backed up with results.
