The locals who already lived there for hundreds of years were Semites of three main religious groups (Muslim, Christian, and Jewish) who had previously lived together without too much strife. These people who already lived their voiced their hope for independence (or as part of a greater unity), and were betrayed. The problems started in 1919, when hordes of foreigners (European DNA) stated arriving.
