@melaniel.s8990 Yeah, Idaho is in deep shit now. Freedom to go unvaccinated is about as useful as freedom to drive on the wrong side of the interstate during rush hour traffic.

I kept waiting for the adults to wade in, and say "Alright, this is over" but it never happened. Everyone just blinked and pretended it was perfectly normal for a sitting US president to openly insult longstanding allies, suck up to despotic foreign dictators, shamelessly violate the Emoluments Act, and help spread a disease that's killed more Americans than WW2 did. Over in Europe they can make trash like that gone by the end of the day and replaced the next morning. Over here? We just keep thumbing the newspaper and telling ourselves we'll wait until the next election. Clump's mishandling of the pandemic was what came out of that, long after he'd proven himself unfit for office.
2
@tammydavis-howard220 Heard that "both parties are the same" tune before and don't like it. Putin and Trump want you to hum it. Keeps you from participating. Meantime, look up the last few party line votes on election security and equal pay in case you think both parties are the same.
2
If you haven't got minutes of the meetings where they allegedly planned this, could you just go back under your conspiracy-theory rock? Expecting every disaster to have a purely human villain behind it is anthropocentric folly at its height.
2
My job is still gone, so I go trollhunting most mornings over coffee. Got this.
2
I Want to Write Porn But by all means go write porn. It's probably more suited to your abilities than posting anything purporting to be factual information.
2
@keyissues1027 Another angle they use frequently is their "both parties are the same" nonsense. The goal with that is to discourage people from participating in the democratic process, and since the result would be a win for Trump, you can see clearly which side (and whose trollbots) are pushing it.
2
@SharonPierson-d4l Some things are best kept surprises. In the meantime, feel free to enjoy some snark as the GOP forces itself to carry a nonviable candidate to term.
2
FOXed Noise ran an article recently where they claimed that Biden was falsely claiming that going to Trump's rallies could be dangerous to a person's health. Funny how it took them no time at all to forget how Herman Cain contracted covid at Trump's superspreading event in Oklahoma, then later died of covid.
2
Just out of curiosity .. what 5 neverending wars are you pinning on Obama? I hadn't heard of those.
2
@bigpatman7846 To be fair on that count, Trump also did nothing to end the war when he had all three branches of government for 2017-2018. Maybe now that, on Trump's watch, Iraq has voted to tell the US to leave, the withdrawal will actually happen.
2
All of those "both parties are the same, why bother voting" people have been awfully quiet lately.
2
Trump just walked the constitution out to the middle of 5th Avenue and shot it .. and Republicans were just fine with that.
2
His proper name is DeathSantis or DeSatan or something along those lines. His idea of treating it like the common flu (which burns out within months) has been a colossal failure @ 39K covid deaths so far in Florida. Some of the countries that fought in WW2 had fewer combat deaths than that :(
2
There's been plenty of direct evidence. Go back and watch today's proceedings until you get it. They defined the term and used examples from the impeachment just to make it clear to everyone.
2
Couldn't Republicans just move to North Korea if they hate democracy this much?
2
Sending other folks' kids to die is the highest aspiration of a draft-dodger who's wormed into a position of power. DC is full of that type.
2
No doubt the latest excuses will in 30 days be proven as transparent as the phantom ships in the Gulf of Tonkin, the yellowcake and WMDs that Iraq allegedly had, and so on. Let's all remember what happened the last time a major military power was headed by a loser madman with no curbs on his nuttiness.
2
The Trumpies are NOT yet beaten! We stop only when they're led away in handcuffs. Until then it's game on, m'f'ers.
2
(to the OP) Unfortunately far worse creatures will enter the scene if we allow election results to be subverted as the Republicans are still trying to do. They know damn well that they cannot win elections when more people vote. And it is sickening to see how inciting insurrection is now as acceptable to them as going to the bathroom or breathing.
2
@guacamolekid3899 There is not a shred of evidence, after many recounts in many different states, that anything was stolen from Trump. Get your head screwed on straight. Or maybe you watch nothing but right wing nut job media so that's all you hear.
2
@guacamolekid3899 Funny how you can "know" something that has no factual evidence behind it that can stand up in court. That's why every single case was tossed - even by judges that Trump appointed! The word you are looking for is "believe", as in when someone "believes" that God is really a giant flying plate of spaghetti. Without facts to support it, all you have is "belief". Not facts.
2
Crazy levels of corruption. It's only going to get much worse. Now that the senate is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Trump Corporation, we're seeing things like the senate budget committee not holding hearings on Trump's budget on the flimsy excuse that it would be a "diatribe against the president" .. or the senate suddenly willing to entertain flimsy evidence/witnesses against the Bidens.
2
@sherrysnyder4195 Regarding "It’s an experimental vaccine" << At this point, more Americans have gotten covid vaccine than have gone on Twitter, so I think you can safely drop that particular bit of nutjob propaganda.
2
@voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang885 Correct. And the theme Hitler harped on again and again (until everyone was numbed into believing the lie) was that Germany had been "stabbed in the back". That feeling of being wronged is what helped him make them commit atrocities gleefully. You see the same thing with the Trumpanzees.
2
@stringmonkey568 I can say it because that is what's happened. Let me spell it out more bluntly - it is Trump's lies and Trump's incompetence that will cause more virus related deaths. Take it up with him, not with me.
2
Wastebook: America's #1 source for disinformation about vaccines, gravity, politics, news, etc. Remember that recently-named private FB group where Customs and Border Patrol officials shared racist memes and talked openly about doing a hit on AOC? Wastebook is essentially a destabilizing influence.
2
Umm, what you said would make sense only if it was the US taking over those spaces closer to Russia (which is not what happened) rather than those nations choosing to align themselves with the West for reasons of prosperity (which is what happened).
2
All because, somewhere in rural America, a trans schoolkid was playing volleyball somewhere.
2
Actually he needs a DP and at least two cameras. Preferably someone who knows sound too.
2
Like a giant litmus test being applied to our society, Trump has revealed three distinct classes of Americans: A) People who stand up to bullies and authoritarians, and who try to defend the rule of law. B) People who know that a bully is doing bad/illegal stuff, but go along anyway because it serves some single interest (abortion, racism, taxes, etc) C) People who shamelessly suck up to and defend the bully/authoritarian. Didn't know we had so many B & C people here, but if therapy & medications don't work, we probably need to escort them to the nearest border and tell them not to come back. Just having them here is likely to take down our country and our society. They're like a cancer.
2
@matejebach5487 Personally, I think testing is of limited value, even for individuals. By the time you test positive you've already been spreading the virus for up to a couple weeks. The US ranks low in healthcare quality .. and that's about to whack us very hard.
2
"The forest kept shrinking, yet the trees kept voting for the axe, thinking that because its handle appeared to be made of wood it must be one of them." This is why Reagan, the two Bushes, Trump etc (and most GOP congress/senate members) pretend to be folksy ordinary guys -- even while they are crushing the middle class out of existence.
2
Skip Frake It's impressive that a place as rural as South Dakota (with no lockdown) can be doubling in cases even faster than a super-urban place like NY (with a severe lockdown). That's how easily this virus spreads.
2
Some of us are better at seeing through the chaff than others, but it's been a long time since that was included in grade school curriculum.
2
Correct. And the nicest thing we can do is find more prison space for them. Let them sulk with Leslie Van Houten, a cult crazy from a different era.
2
The reason people like the caller are cult members is that Trump has been very painfully obvious to everyone (including said followers) that his character is composed of entirely negative characteristics. He is spiteful, angry, vindictive, psychotic, untrustworthy, irresponsible, vainglorious. And the more he displays those negative characteristics, the more his loyal followers love him. Normal people would be repelled by Trump's negative characteristics, but not the cult members. They love him all the more when he gets more negative.
1
Vlad, is that you?
1
@captain_context9991 You might want to talk with the people who survived the siege of Sarajevo, where a pretty bloody 3-way civil war was fought between Serbs, Muslims, Croats. They don't seem eager to repeat the experience. They even recommend avoiding the experience if necessary.
1
A woman's right to abortion was settled long ago in Roe v Wade. The chipping-away that some states are somehow getting away with is like Alabama suddenly decreeing that Blacks can sit at the lunch counter only on the fifth Sundays of the month, then using the narrow loophole as a flimsy claim that they didn't completely do away with the right so that somehow makes it OK.
1
@juniorgod321 If that's your best attempt to put words into other folks' mouths that they actually didn't say .. do you have an address so I can send you some coffee? Worst trolling attempt ever. Seriously, go back to sleep.
1
Every society has people who are malcontent, easily provoked to rage, capable of being sucked into the dumbest propaganda that wouldn't fool a cat. Every society has people who, under the wrong circumstances, would be perfect little enemy collaborators, working to undermine the same nation that's protected them all their lives. Norway had its Quislings. France had those who opened their arms and legs to the Nazis. America has its Trumpanzees.

Predatory capitalism requires a reserve army of desperate unemployed in order to keep the pressure on workers fearful of losing their jobs.
1
@selfishcapitalist3523 Hey, don't harsh on Somalia. It's a regular Galt's Gulch, what with guns everywhere, religion everywhere, almost no regulation, almost no taxes, almost no government. It should be a paradise by Repub/Libertarian standards.
1
@justanotheroldguy738 Re "All capitalism is predatory." - even when the workers own the enterprise?
1
@justanotheroldguy738 How do you feel about worker-owned enterprises and income-sharing communes, all of which exist here in the US?
1
@justanotheroldguy738 "Absolutely support them as steps on the way to a fully worker- controlled economy." Just so I can play Satan's barrister .. could you name some good historical examples of that so I can look them up and read more about them? Thank you.
1
Trump's behavior before, during, and since the insurrection he inspired, makes the craziest mass murderers look like mere disgruntled employees by comparison. That's how much blood he wants on his hands. His tiny hands.
1
Republicans: "Officer, that radar speeding ticket you're trying to give me is invalid because you're not of the same political party as me. So I'm going to rip it up and drive away." Then, later when they're in court, the party line switches to "Since the judge didn't personally witness this alleged speeding incident, he's not qualified to make that judgement."
1
This is actually a good idea, even if it doesn't sound like one. Forget about them learning from their own experiences - they're not capable of learning anything anyway.
