Babe I'm gonna leave you really baffles me how LZ can be do good and have produced what is certainly classic rock, but such juvenile and puerile material. I have to wonder if Jeffrey Epstein was a big fan of LZ?

This is why You-Tube needs to be nationalized and made into a national or global utility, and the rules for what you do need to be legally disputed and maybe even voted on by the people.

My introduction to Hendrix, the Who, Santana and CSNY was from the movie Woodstock ... that movie changed my life after I had just moved to CA. Forgot to mention Richie Havens whose acoustic style blew me away as well.

the browser mode on iTunes is pretty good ... but is it easy to lose and hard to find again ... iTunes has always sucked. Before I had Apple stuff I had some other cool audio-video box that let you listen to the radio too. AND record from the radio. So if tyou were somewhere listening to something and did not know what it as, you could record it to the internal disk. Also ... it did not try to tell you what to put and not put on your device ... I wish I could think of what the company was ... and I wish they were still around.

Thanks ... I've never heard this before, but it does highlight Mitchell's talent in a who knew light for me.

I don't like this song, and songs like this, the weird voices. Not of fan of AIC.

This is a good idea, run MacOS on a Intel PC. I just like the form-factor of my iMac and how col and quiet it is.

Seems like Google's policy should be that if you are not harming the artist in any way financially, or associating negativity on them, and you are not making money off a video, then the video ought to stay up ... shouldn't it? Good luck getting them to respond to anything when they are not required to, and same with WMG? They are not answerable to anyone but their board of directors and stockholders, assuming the have stockholders. This is a broken system that invites corruption and stupidity.

The sappy piano sounds like Neil Young, I can just imagine his whiny voice coming in singing?

Good video, good lessons. This is how business works, they never want to give out the power or information to allow people to do anything that is not able to be stolen or exploited by a larger company. I had some similar experiences in college. That is why it is so political these days to do anything. If you know what the good teachers are you can take their classes and get out of an institution and go to work and join whatever field. If not you muck about burning up money giving it to the school - whose job is to winnow out students ... they want the political ones, the easy to control ones, the legacies, etc. Our system of capitalism which is a great thing has sunk into complete corruption, and that corruption has taken over the government, and most of the media.

Bach, if he had Asperger's. ;-) Cool, liked it. In the middle I thought I heard a moment or two of influence of Keith Emerson.

vocals these days seem trite and almost annoying ... or maybe it is just that vocals, outside of just regular popular much have always been kind of pointless. For musicians to write great music, and then to include great lyrics is like two big hurdles to surmount, and usually the lyrics drag down the music. I always think of Deep Purple's, Smoke On The Water, which at the time struck me as such a powerful cord progression, that the lyrics just made it bubble gum. Same with something like Money For Nothing .... What is wrong with instrumental music? I like instrumental jazz and rock a lot.

They should be paying you to do these videos since you are helping these pathetic old bands, and lots of new one no one knows about.
1
Poor Mick, didn't have no money in'is coat! Awwwwweeeeeee!
1
Cool shirt.
1
You call that music?
1
Oooh, that is a good oldy, from pop-psychedelic land.
1
I always wondered what that sparkly sound was at the beginning of this song! Hahaha, thank you, that is exactly what it is.
1
How about a video about songs with a repeating chorus that fades out ... like Beatles - Hey Jude or Donovan - Atlantis ... there must be many more.
1
Every video always a music trip down memory lane ... and some extras.

That first pattern reminds me of Nick Drake sounding stuff.

I gotta say ... FUCK THE CARS ... you are doing them a fucking favor
1
@rebeccastevens1876 OK, but if they do not own their library of songs it makes no difference what he says, does it? Whatever system it is that does this is unfair and broken ... and it does not even serve the artists well as far as I can see.
1
@rebeccastevens1876 Think of it this way Becky ... I'm not blaming the musicians "The Cars", I'm blaming the corporation "The Cars". Does that make it better for you? ;-)
1
@rebeccastevens1876 Rebecca, you are so hyperbolically literal I'm surprised you did not think I wanted people to have sex with The Cars. Really, is this a good use of your time? It's not of mine.

6:25 & 8:00 - something about that just doesn't sound right?
1
What does "compressed" mean ? What's compressed, and how?
1
@randoshus3762 I am not sure what that means, but thanks.
1
3:23 - Bass Face ;-) That is an amazing sounding 12-string electric! 3:50 ... Whoa! Is a sharp-4th the same thing as a tritone, i.e 6 half-steps?
1
Oh God, if I grew up with this music I think I would hate music. This is the kind of music I can enjoy walking through the aisles of the supermarket.
1
when you turn down the voltage it sound more open, airy, and full ... amazing, I would have never thought the input voltage to an amp would make any difference ... fascinating. The 120 sounds dry ... meaning I guess the 89 sound wet ... which must be good then, eh?
1
11:32 - This is what I don't get about this song, and songs like it. They go through all the trouble you point out to work into that cool jam, and then all of a sudden they break into some kind of punchy arrhythmic section that pulls me out of the theme of what I am thinking the song is about. I am hearing this song for the first time, so I am probably missing something and would get used to it and maybe even like it if I listened to it a lot ... so many of the songs you have covered do something like this, but they keep the theme going, but do it more gracefully ... "Yes" does this kind of thing a lot I think, well.
1
I've heard the some a millions times ... probably literally, but what is it about hearing it played differently, even if it is almost the same that is so compelling and fun to hear? I't always cool to hear your renditions they just sound cool.
1
Cat's In The Cradle ... I had a Harry Chapin phase for about 3 minutes. He really was talented and had a great voice. Gritty Taxi about a druggie driver.
1
I agree with Les Hall at 8:43 ... a lotta 1 - 5 stuff going on, with major embellishment, because the tune is so slow you can pack it full of all that stuff - but it was done tastefully. "Angie" was lots more popular than my favorite song off the album, "100 Years Ago" which really gave me a weird feeling because around that time I was a kid at camp and out hiking with the campers and counselors in the Santa Cruz hills and it seemed like it was timeless and could have been 100 years ago.
1
Great point on the delay of the chorus. I never noticed it or thought about it ... this not being one of my favorite songs - but it is a kick-ass tune, and now that you mention it, I see "what makes this song great". That is, the ascension as you say of the chord progression ... as in struggling ... a fight ... a long slog .... and the resolution of the chorus is delayed because the whole point of the song is, no matter how long it takes - don't stop believing. It is actually really brilliant, and I'm glad I watched this video, among others. It's interesting to see the thought that goes into some of these tunes, they are truly works of art with a lot of crafting ... even if it is only rock and roll!
1
I used to play the clarinet as a kid ... well, I tried for a year anyway. The whole step below thing is absolutely bizarre, I had never heard of that. WHY?
1
Love it. So funny.

so you can catch up with yourself.

Paul Buckmaster died? That sucks. I just remember seeing his name on credits, especially Elton John. That's too bad, I hate to hear it.
1
That's a good one!
1
Can you just pick out the notes in a fast solo like that by ear? Do you slow it down or use some kind of software to transcribe that. I could listen to those fast solos for years and never be able to figure out the notes .... it's fun to hear someone talk who knows what they are talking about.
1
Anyone ever tell Les Hall that he looks a bit like Norman Reedus?
1
@RickBeato I liked you when I found your channel, then you started deleting my comments for no reason, or at least no reason that you would explain. Still a good channel, but I don't appreciate that.

What band/album was #21?
1
I would love to see that ... but what song ... so many to choose from?
1
So many great Gordon Lightfoots songs ... this is a great one.
