  7. Biden in a very careful way stabbed both Bernie and Warren in the backs - doing the minimum and making people even more disgusted with the Democrats. Our government will destroy the country before they allow any more socialism into it. They will decimate the population before they allow Bernie's reforms. For the sake of unity Biden made a show of supporting Bernie and working to further his agenda, but he did not. The people who did not follow the news thought Biden was really pushing pogressivism - but he never did. Both parties are working against the American people because the billionaire class as Bernie calls them will not accept democracy - to them democracy is socialism - and they are right. We are no democracy. We are not even a Republic, we have been since the end of WWII a fairly benevolent Fascist plutocracy that has become more and more malevolent and corrupt over time. Ezra's opinions carry on this farce with nice words and clever turns of phrase, but he does not support populism because he is in the upper, upper class and rising.

  8. The Democratic side of this immigrant argument is false. Sure, first generation immigrants often come over and work in menial low-paying jobs. Some of the return, some of them stay, some of them get citizenship and have children, and those children do not go those jobs and end up competing with citizens here, and they do lower, or put downward pressure on wages at a time when the subject of increasing homelessness and poverty are major problems. But in our "democracy" he cannot afford to recognize this reality or talk about it because it will create voters who will vote against him, and in this way, in certain issues minorities can drive policy. Our politics become totally fake, of necessity because of the toxic incentives.

  9. The statistics say that, in general, the longer someone lives the longer they live. For example average male life expectancy in the US is 77 years. If you live to 76 - you are not expected to die the next year because that average factors in child mortality, cancers, accidents and if you miss all of those thing you have new life expectancy - and that is just for the average American. Biden and sadly Trump have very good health care and lifestyle habits which mean that it is highly likely both of them will live well into their 90's. Look at Jimmy Carter who is 99 this year. George H. W. Bush was 94 when he died. These people in general live a long time longer than average. Biden is 81 and is likely to live a lot longer into his 90s.

  10. We're going to get tired of winning. I'm in love with tariffs. Tariffs will make us all rich. Well, it won't happen overnight. There may be a period of pain. We may kill a few million people. We may have to go to war. ????? Why did anyone vote for this dunce? This does not seem to be working, and the speed they are going at is because they know the end result is something the vast majority of Americans will not like, and did not vote for. I totally support non-radicalized Muslim immigration - but at this point we can see that there are big crowds supporting Hamas - even knowing what is going on against all reason and facts and humanity. I hate Trump and the GOP, but I am with them on anything to want to do to stop unregulated Muslim immigration and to identify, find and deport any Muslims they can that have publicly shown support for Hamas. This is an existential issue. I've been on Twitter for the last 3 weeks and I've seen incredible hate, lies, misinformation coming from Muslims.   13. 2:18 - Obama was either lied to, or fooled, or has hidden sympathies for the Palestinians and does not understand the realities of what the Palestinians are and what the Palestinians want, or rather demand. 5:47 - W. Bush two decades ago saying the same things. When the Arab/Muslims states and interests are cheating for the Palestinians, sending them weapons and aid this proves they simply cannot change - the death cult is too far inculcated into their lives. It would be nice if they could be changed like Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan, but this seems impossible when outside interests are determined to keep this horribly oppressive society intact and aimed at Israel. Not even to mention again the Muslim riots and violence in the West. There are videos of Abbas talking out of both sides of his mouth, not to mention he is reported as being very unpopular in the West Bank where Hamas is popular. The whole mindset of the Arab states, at least the populations, if not the leaders as well, is that it is a holy war against the Jews and the West and there is no honest negotiations that are ever going to happen. And let's not forget Iran and their militant proxies. I believe that Israel must have free reign to do what believes it must since it is only Israel that has to face this reality and the history. From what I have read and my understanding is that there should not be reward for violence or support from the world that gives a two state solution to the Palestinians - at least no a state that is within Israel proper or on its border. To reward Palestinians with a state would be like giving ISIS state. I don't understand how Ezra can express an opinion that he does not seem to have the backup to support?

  17. Did you listen to him talking to the governors today 2-23? He sounded fine. I did not like Biden and did not vote for him in the 2020 primary, but I vote for him in the general election. I did not expect much, but Biden has exceeded expectuations, and has been a better President than President Obama. Ezra is right about Joe Biden being a poor campaigner, but I don't know anyone who would vote for Trump because of that?

  19. Just read an article about how we are finding microplastics in every man's testicles ... so don't tell me about regulation and innovation being stifled. If we had stifled a bit more maybe we would not be facing the death of the planet. I alternate, sometimes weekly between loving and hating your ridiculous podcasts. The problem is that everything is driven by money, no one does anything unless they personally can exit from it a billionaire - instead of actually doing something useful, helpful and productive instead of exploitating some negative quality in human behavior.

People complain about the lack of specifics or detail in these debates, but it never pays for anyone to go into depth in describing what they want to do because it just sets up a series of predicatable and loaded attacks. Whatever a Democrats says gets attacked on the basis of it being communism - meaning they want the rich to pay taxes for the country that made them rich, and to pay back the people they ripped off to do it. For Republicans they are always attacked for being fascists, and not caring about people and wanting to control people - and as we all have seen in the last 20 years these attacks always go to the personal and character attacks, and with Republicas all the things they are doing that are illegal, immoral, or stupid they always turn it around and blame the Democrats for doing. The thing is OPEN YOUR EYES AND LOOK AT THIS COUNTRY, and what you see is the rich getting disproportionately richer because of the political power they have ursurped from the rest of us, by financial tricks to steal money the way it is legal to do in our country that doesn't happen in other democracies around the world - at least as much until they get mixes up with American corporations and oligarchs. How is it that Americans have gone from being able to survive and prosper on one income families, raising their children, affording a house, addording education, affording health care to the precarious situation most of us are in all of our lives. That is not right, natural or immoral, but when one of our political parties - the other bought and sold parties whose job it is stand up for the people and the working person gets into power they are clipped at a certain level into doing nothing, and then Republicans get into power and it is tax cuts and screw resposiblity to the country while claiming patriotism and god-fearingness??? Frogs jump out of boiling water when it gets too hot, but we Americans have been brainwashed and hyptnotized not to.

  24. Thank you - brilliant podcast ... so far about the average American's head. I wish it was not. FINALLY, though, someone explains some details are about tariffs. The US government initially funded itself and promoted industrialization with tariffs is my understanding. But can they get into a predicatable discussion about tariffs educating Americans without risking losing political respect and support. Is China's form of government better than ours in that it avoids this absurdity? Is our government broken and obsolete?

Kara Swisher is so smart and so well-informed, but she makes these judgements about people's humanity that, first - she cannot really know and is just opinionizing, and projecting her own emotions, but it seems like she is really expressing that these people are fearful people, and that is there intent. We don't know what they want, but first they tear down, and then they will build up around their despotic ideals. Like Hitler and Albert Speer to helped Hitler develop an aesthetic around his authoritarianism. They called him Fuehrer ... father. These people live in their own fantasies because nothing pulls them down to reality. They pay not taxes and obey no laws. The rest of us need to realize we have to suppress people like this. They talk about liberty, and Libertarianism, morphed into Conservativism, but they want Liberty to be capricious and whimsical with the country and other people. Even the Roman Emperors were not like that. The worst Roman emperors did a lot of complex building and infrastructure. They guys are truly destroyers.

Ezra makes a good point in the latter part of his podcast here that the Dems having booted Bernie Sanders out of the candidacy pretended they were going to take up his agenda, and they had no intention of it. Unless Bernie evolves his stand on Israel, I don't think he is a viable candidate for anything other than his Senate seat. I'm as liberal/progressive as Bernie and I am sad to see him side with Palestinian fake-liberals. I have supported him for years but I don't think I could vote for him while Israel is being threatened by the barbarian Muslims, and I am not a Jew or a Christian.

  39. The problem with what you've been laying out is that while as you say there are lots of good Democrats to choose from in a convention - all of them have some kind of poison pill. Be it Ukraine, or Israel, or Health Care, or Global Warming, will they appeal enough to get people out to vote against Trump? Some are black, and I don't think America would be so happy to vote for another black President that might not be as articulate or mainstream as Obama. And the Left who were not happy with Obama for screwing up Health Care would be whining and complaining. Then a Progressive like Gavin Newsom who I like, but face it has not done that much and as the one in 2000 and 2004 start marrying gay people and turning people off to the Democrats and help to get Bush elected. There is an argument for sticking with Biden, because when it comes down to it, those who will vote and can't stand Trump will be forced to vote for Biden - unless they vote nutty like RFKjr or Cornel West. Who knows? Will they take that risk?

Lumber prices are never going to drop as wood becomes rare because we did not plant enough trees and are scvenging around the word for the last of the lumber - even as we need the trees to counteract climate change. The super rich can buy anything they need, and pay the labor prices while everyone else cannot afford to survive in a market where everything is sucked up by the rich and their big houses and captured labor.   48. It makes more sense to me to model what we saw with Latinos in the 2024 election as recent immigrants as naive to what is going on in America. Like back in the 80's Republican Ronald Reagan did this whole laissez-faire, free-market narrative thing along with Milton Friedman, and Americans bought into it. Since then the main body of informed Americans who understand what Reagan's policies did worldwide, especially today in Central and South America that brought about a lot of this emigration. I see this guy as just another Right-wing off-spring of the Libertarian think tanks working to extend that Right-wing agenda to justify the American plutocracy. The tells are there is you listen to his rhetoric. He justifies his theories by using the things he tells us he heard from people in the Texas Rio Grande valley? Right there it tells us that he is skewing his data to he right. Then he goes on to mention "A Time For Choosing" - a Milton Friedman slogan that really means a time for Right-wing social engineering. Putting this guy out there without bringing this information to bear to characterize his argument is a second wave of propaganda against the American people. We the audience deserve much better study of this. This guy is just another propagandist for the far-right who is covering up for new massive manipulations of Latinos and other immigrant populations which uses think-tank studies to manipulate Latinos as they did in 2016 to manipulate white working people. The Democrats, that is the centrist Left has no way to combat or even see this because they don't have the billions of dollars to devote to think tanks or access to the business data or the experts who can interpret it. What it substitutes is wacky theories from the extreme Left wackos. This guy is trying to sell of see how this nonsense retelling of a new extremist Friedmanism, justifying extreme inequality that many Latino populations , and Asian populations are used to and can be manipulated around.
