Ezra Klein ... guy bugs me, but I listen to him because he often has some insights that are nothing short of brilliant, but he still bugs me.

I just listened to your entire podcast with Vivek Ramaswamy. I think we have in the Republican party a collection of very smart, very sociopathic double-talkers who can very articulately describe these little scenarios, sort of like how Republicans describe the national debt as a family's budget and credit card debt. He puts out these little chunks of what sounds reasonable and patriotic with all the right buzz-words, but none of it fits together into anything but double-talking lies to enable this group of people without a popular mandate to seize power, and then stomp all over the rest of America. I find this guy slimy and disgusting. I appreciated Ezra showing him up, but I don't think you slammed him anywhere near as hard as he deserves. It is so sickening and hypocritical to hear him talking about how this plan of theirs is going to help the American worker - but the real problem with Republicans is that they want to induce these massive changes to the country where all that upset will upset everyone but the billionaires and their henchmen, their brownshirts if you will so they can control and basically enslave the rest of the population. What is even worse is that they are not honest about what they want to do, and it is an extension of the institutional learning over decades of what started out as the John Birch society ( maybe farther back than that ), then the Libertarian Party, then they had the money and took over the Republican Party, and now it is the MAGA party, another pack of lies - all based on the understanding that if their real agenda was exposed and discussed that Americans would never vote for them ... Republicans & Democrats alike. But we have a media that is afraid to go against them, corporations too, and anyone in the know enough to understand that they will need a place in the New American Order and bends their knee. These people have ruined the country, destroyed a society that within living memory saved the world from what is now devouring our own country. When are you going to explain that, or at least explain where I am wrong Ezra? Day 1 Trump fires millions of government workers. What do they do? How are they absorbed into the working economy? What about all the people on Social Security, or MedicareMedicAid? This will be a genocide on Americans.

@eyedeegee19 That's stupid, of course he will. GHW Bush made it will into his 80s, and Carter is 99. These are not average Americans with shoddy health care, they are the Presidents with the healthiest food and excellent medical care.

@eyedeegee19 You were talking about lifespan, and I corrected you. When an above average upper class American lives to 80, the actuarial data say they will live much longer than the average lifespan of the average American. You can look at the actuarial data for why that is - they are out of the reach of most accidents, child mortality, toxic exposures, etc. I'm not denying there is something going on ... clearly there is. Does he have a physical or media problem or is he having a bad day. I've been in rooms that were hostile to me before and I got steamed and taken off my concentration and i am nowhere near as old as Biden. I just saw him talking to a room full of governors today and he had no problem. His problem is campaigning. It may be as simple that he is stressed out and not getting good sleep.

You replied to my comment which was about lifespan because at least part of the point the original poster was making was that Biden was unlikely to live or have full mental function at the end of his second term. My own Dad is 94 and aside from being slower and more thoughtful he is as competent as ever. The point that Ezra Klein makes about the difference between campaining for the job and doing the job is valid, but some people seem to want to turn that into a life or die age thing. Pardon me if that is not what you are doing.

My last reply to you was - Seems you're getting a bit overly-sensitive and combative to me. YouTube seems to do this with posts and replies sometimes. I've never figured out why. I think the channel owner can delete comments or shadow ban other users so you can see your own posts but no one else can. I just think you're getting weird about the point which is Biden's age. I see so many videos of his speaking like a normal person that the ones where he looks senile there is something going on, but to me I don't care, especially when the opposing candidate is Trump. Ezra's comments here are all good and valid, but what it is is what it is, and there really is no one else out there ready to pick up where Biden is. My feeling at the beginning of he campaign was that it would be good for everyone for there to be a regular primary season and that Biden should run and debate with everyone else, but that is not happening.

Hate is a strong word ... but what other word can you feel towards someone who blithely wants to wreck the US nation and throw its people into unemployment, poverty, inflation, poverty wages, and gert rid of the protections of he government that is supposed to be by, for and of those people.

The tech stuff reminds me of just about any corporation in America. When it comes time to vote - whatever the workers think, a lot of time the CEO will weigh in and suggest to people who to vote for ... and it is always the most Republican or Conservative. This is taken up and influences the workers and has a chilling effect on workers - meaning that after something like that most workers will keep quiet if anything political is ever said at breaks, or lunch or on the job or even at offsites. So it is hard to tell where tech workers' loyalties are.

Why would Ezra put this propagandist out here right after the election? He is trying to sell a Friedmanism 2.0 to a naive and even ignorant population of different recent immigrants. At least if he is going to do that he should be able to see what the guy's game is and call him on it.

Democrats in California are not just Democrats, they are the full political spectrum of anyone, including Republicans, who want to be in politics. Newsom is a virtual Republican. People forget how to helped to swing the 2000 and 2004 elections to Bush - TWICE, by marrying gay people right before the election, which mobilized Republicans/Conservatives throughout the country to vote for Bush - and Bush won ... though he did still have to be appointed by the Supreme Court in the worst most corrupt decision ever made in that body.

You give no reason ... 1:45 - "Biden has been the most economically populist President of the modern era." Ezra, that breaks two ways my friend ... the most economically populist has been pitiful. He gave money to college grads while doing nothing for low-wage workers getting killed by inflation. He gave money to children, which is good, but that doesn't help average people. He fixed the price of one drug instead of fixing a system of corruption that rips the country off. Joe Biden was only a token "economically populist President". As was incredibly bad, incompetent and extremely bad at it. Biden has been almost as extreme a liar as Donald Trump from the beginning of his first campaign where he lied profusely about this academic achievements in college. Then there were the plagiarism charges. Then there was his nick-name - the Senator from the insurance industry, the Senator from Delaware, the state that allowed companies all over the country to incorporate there and avoid paying taxes to their home state. I voted for Biden as the Democratic candidate, and Kamala too - unthinkable for me to vote Republican or especially Trump - but Biden was a fake and he just wanted to play President, but he also lied about being a bridge to a new kind of Democrat. Biden and Kamala both are despicable Democrats, and that is why people hated them enough to either not vote or vote for Trump. Bernie is right ... except sadly about Israel-Hamas. Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, etc ... the Dem leadership have fight against populism - it is why they exist, it is what they get paid for.

The gating factor with Bernie will be that all his chosen advisors have been Muslim adjacent, AND he himself is an enemy of Israel - hated by the Jews. If he splits off from the Democratic party he will just hurt it more. But he probably would have won.

I like Pete. I had no idea who he was in 2016 or 2020, but since he's gotten a lot of exposure, I think I trust him, relatively, compared to other politicians.

The idea that wages are up for SOME working people, and that is supposed to counter the inflation EVERYONE is experiencing is total nonsense. Not everybody got a raise or an adjustment for inflation - and meanwhile housing prices are not even included in inflation. I'm a Democrat and not likely to change, but the Democratic party has done virtually nothing but pretend to be an opposition party. They have not campaigned on any important issues to the people - housing, health care, education, child care, abortion. When finally someone did, Bernie Sanders, the Democratic party threw everything they had against him. Until people understand what a sham we are in - and it is hard because all those important looking and serious sounding news outlets set our framing day by day - and very few Americans have the time, energy or inclination to look very deeply into what is happening, and they don't know where to start if they wanted to. What they are saying in a different way is that the country is great for billionaires, and it gets better for them and all of us when billionaires to act free of laws, regulations and encumbrances - so everyone else ought to shut up and pretend to be happy. Some Democrats get it and are doing something, but it is mostly hidden at the local level and the media usually attacks them. For many Americans at or near the bottom they are sinking into real misery, comparable to slavery or even worse since at least they fed and housed the slaves. And those who are still OK and surviving are just happy to not be miserable, so they support this now American totalitarian status quo.

This was Ezra Klein participating in a re-packaging of Ronald Reagan's Friedmanism of the 80s, justifying massive inequality because new immigrants or immigrants in hot locations like the Rio Grande Valley that he singles out to use as a general case are easily coerced or manipulated. Same with recent Asian immigrant populations, but a little different. The right-wing think tanks have the money and infrastructure to study and engineer political messaging that leaves Democrats/Liberals in the dust - no matter how much attention they pay to these arguments.

The Democratic Party, and Democracy in America exists at the pleasure of the billionaires and corporations. Make no mistake, our country is not run by the government, the government has been reduced to window dressing to the point that Republicans do not take it seriously and mock the whole idea - that is what Trump it. The question is, are there really so many Americans who support that take on the country and the government - that is, do people really want billionaires like Elon Musk telling us what to do and acting on their own with no regulation or legal consequences. There is an iron fist underneath there somewhere, and some reporter ought to report on it.

There is no solution - 1 state or 2 state. 1-state would mean absorbing Palestinians who 70+ % supported Oct. 7th, and a 2-state solution would be an existential danger and constant war with Israel whose current borders are indefensible. The Palestinians arabs live peacefully inside Israel with civil rights. The Palestinian PA/Hamas are caged into Gaza and Palestine in poverty and ignorance, brainwashed and forced to fight ot die for the kind of people who funded Al-Qaeda, and ISIS. They are lost souls in hell, and I feel horribly sorry for them. Listen to some of the stories of Mosab Hasan Yosef a Palestinian who was the son of the creator of Hamas. Ezra it sounds like to me has never taken the time to understand this, or he doesn't feel he can be honest and factual about it because it threatens his livelihood if he gets cancelled.

This is a war, and Israelis don't seem to understand how lucky they are to be alive because they are surrounded by barbaric uncivilized societies that are reprogramming themselves to be even worse than they have been. You cannot fault Netanyahu for whatever he and others discussed and tried to do as a tactic of war - it was in the path of security and freedom for Israel - and whatever Israel does pretty much has a positive affect on Palestinians too, which is why their leaders have to bring down Israel's wrath on them constantly to turn it negative and reinforce their societal brainwashing. The toxicity here is with Palestinians, in their foreign supporters, their leaders, and to some extent the coerced of their Palestinian people, the ones who heavily buy into terrorism and end up terrorizing their own people. Whatever BS is constantly being pushed in the American media everyone knows the world would be far better off with this conflict resolved. That leaves it with a stable, productive positive Israeli state, and then - what to do with the misbehaving Palestinians and those who drove them down that path. It would be ideal and poetic justice if the Palestinians could be marched to Iran.
