  5. 12:00 - I think he means Bush/Cheney told us that deficits don't matter. Reagan dumped 6 trillion debt on the country, but he did raise taxes, and that held all the way until George W. Bush realized what the MMT people are saying today, and made sure to give all that money to Republicans and the rich. The US turned overtly fascist under GWB ... but we have been working on it strictly since right after FDR, while the rest of the developed world has been respecting democracy and their people. Look at Finland for the greatest model.

  6. Biden is incompetent ... for campaigning. He can do the job, no question. His life expectancy is into the 90s. RFKjr. is a real jerk. He is all talk, and no way he can win. The race is between Biden & Trump. RFKjr. as an environmentalist lawyer ... he never passed the bar examination. RFKjr. thinks the Free Market can solve Climate Change. The only problem I have with Biden and sadly it is a big one is the war in Ukraine. Ukraine is the war that did not need to be. Israel on the other hand we should be supporting 1000%.

The question to ask ... because all that stuff about the Republican party is covered in far greater detail by Thomas Frank in his NEVER QUOTED BOOK, "The Wrecking Crew: How Conservatives Rule" ... is, is there any way to turn back the money supporters behind the Republican party. This would be like asking Chomsky was there any way to short-circuit the Nazis in the early 1930's. I don't think this is going to stop with the Republican takeover of our government - so whatever else Chomsky says is irrelevant and simply a waste of time. America has never been a democracy, but we have a certain points moved in that direction ... mostly under FDR's vision. That was quickly turned back, and now the very idea of democracy is called socialism or communism. We are well and truly fucked.

Scott Adams is interesting in this interview, and he has a lot of very heady intellectual arguments, for example about terrorism and vetting immigrants.  I guess I would wonder if Donald Trump is really thinking about all of this.  I mean here is a guy who did not know what the nuclear triad was, and missed so many other things that most people paying attention to political and international relations would know.  He is not a quick study as he has made so many blunders, and then to make it all about leadership and dismiss understanding and expertise ... and again Trump seems to surround himself not with expertise but with yes-men.  I don't see evidence that he is clever enough to make these strategic gyrations that Adams is imputing to him.

  14. Blood is in the water, and Biden is the one bleeding and hemorhaging all over the Democratic party. This situation now is awful, and emotionally Democrats want to defend Joe BIden - but Biden, like Ruth Bader Ginsburg has screwed over the Democrats by his decision to run again when he said he would not, and now there is no time for a primary season. I am now outraged at President Biden and just as much as the Democratic machine that allowed this to happen. I admire and appreciate David's zeal to defend Biden, and attack Trump, but no one can overcome what people's eyes themselves are telling us. No amount of talking about Trump's fascist policies or his aimless rambling can tell us that there is anything close to parity on the lucidness of the two candidates. Biden simply must get out, and the longer he takes to do it the worse it is going to be for Democrats. In fact, the bad judgement that has brought us to this point - if I was up to me I'd drag Biden out by his ear to the old folks home. He has undone every good thing he tried to do now. 25th Amendment time maybe? Sorry David, but Biden has put us all in a terrible spot.

He is too old to change his tune that everything is getting better ... talking about years of progress and hard work ... that is exactly what the fascists have done - intensely - for the last 20 years. If Republican party wins Congress in 2022 - that will be the death certificate of US democracy - for good. He does not admit or realize that demonstrations in the street don't mean anything. The government does not change its course because of demonstrations ... that would be somewhat democratic, and we have moved so far away from that ... it is not coming back unless the people demand it, and the racist control of the media and communications has divided and fragmented people in a way, and even the basic nature of reality. Look at this situation ... 50% of people are afraid to get vaccinated against a deadly disease ... and just today some of them are believing that a vaccine could magnetize a person. We have a country of mindless idiots, not patriotic intelligent citizens ... and the game is how to milk the mindless idiots, not how to make a country great ... for that we'd need to talk to Finland.

  18. Hahaha, Joe Biden has never been a good debater. The Paul Ryan debate Pakman is talking about, and even the Sarah Palin. Biden is just not a good formulator of arguments in real time. He is a deeper thinking because he has more experience and more factors to consider. He is not used to and doesn't like to come up with zingers - that degrades our whole politics. The best zinger he can do it "malarky". Joe is slower ... nothing wrong with being slow. Sometimes he zones out, but when he needs to be focused he is, and he knows so much more than Trump, and he cares about what he is doing.

What is the trade off to hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian lives, and a destroyed country to hold on to regions of the country that do not want to be in that country because they are treated like third class citizens. Someone said today on the news talking about the Voyager space probe that is still somewhat alive out there that the intelligence in that space probe is about equal to a key fob that we hold in our hands to unlock our cars.   36. This is not about you making some kind of record about how right you are ... you should be reporting not trying to show how omniscient you are. The bottom line is that in California or in the United States these policies are not going to pass unless there is something above 60% support for them, and continuous for a few years. The country is not going to change on the whim of a few loud people who do not put their money where they mouths are. So Kamala, Bernie, Warren and even Hillary can try to talk about changes, but as FDR said ... we have to make them do it. We have to make it so they cannot do anything ... and just calling someone a shill and a traitor is as chickenshit clueless as you can get.
