  16.  @notrod5341  The real problem isn't voting for D or R, it's that both parties have been steered right off the rails by the extremists on their fringes, who act like they have a mandate, when the majority of their party are really sane centrists. Both parties won't do anything for the people, but are very busy purging the few sane moderates they have. That's why there are more unaffiliated voters, than belong to either party. Maybe the solution is rank choice voting. Maybe a new centrist party will form, to give a home to the moderate majority, and force both R & D back towards the center. But, as it is now, the government does nothing but draw paychecks for themselves.

  21. Climate change denial seems eerily like the tobacco companies' denial that smoking causes heart and lung disease. They either claim that this is just a normal fluctuation (people have always had heart disease) or that we can't be certain humans are causing it (all the facts on lung cancer aren't in).

  22. Joy Wooldridge - I'm just a smidge younger than you, but grew up in an agricultural town. Not everyone was about peace, love and pot in the 60s. Many people couldn't stand hippies. The high school I went to didn't offer calculus, but did offer ag science, car repair and secretarial skills training. The local college had a lot of ag majors, and they used to drive their pickups into town and lasso any guy with long hair, then drag him behind their truck for a bit. These people, and their children, and many other like them, are the one who support Trump. You know what your learn. (And frankly, most of the hippies could have used a bit more soap. It really pissed a lot of people off to be lectured by someone who dressed like a bum and didn't bother to shave or bathe.) I got a STEM degree from a university in LA, but most of the people I grew up with were left behind. They had a good way of life, but can't adapt to the changes that took it away. The education they got sure didn't prepare them.

Many intelligence and diplomacy experts have stated that Russian oligarchs act under Putin's direction. Anything Russian oligarchs or gangs do, should be considered to be at Putin's direction. Read any of Malcolm Nance's books, or Rachel Maddow's latest book.

McCain put together many bipartisan trips overseas, and there are a good number of Democratic senators who remember them with great fondness. His best friend was a staunch Democrat.
