  7. I was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida. Growing up there, I often visited nearby Fort DeSoto Park. Much of the Fort and the big guns are still there.

  14. FWIW: I was born & raised in Florida, but I have been living in northeastern North Carolina since 1995. This video reminded me of something. It was not too many years ago, while living here in NC, that I FIRST learned of the *Broken Arrow_" incident near SEYMOUR JOHNSON AFB in early 1961. A B-52 broke up in flight, ejecting two H-bombs which landed in and beneath a farmer's field near Goldsboro, NC. Even more amazing is some bits of the bomb that buried itself in the ground ARE {supposedly} STILL IN THE GROUND.

  25. FWIW: I have lived in North Carolina since the mid-1990s, but I was born and raised in Saint Petersburg, Florida. I was living in northern Dade County in 1992 when Hurricane Andrew came ashore in southern Dade County. As a US Navy recruiter once told me years earlier regarding USN boot camp: "It [was] NOT an orgasmic experience." That description was quite appropo to hurricane Andrew as well....

  49. Back in 1980 or 1981 I purchased an automobile tape player at a garage sale that could play EITHER 8-tracks OR cassettes IN THE SAME MACHINE. It had one single opening that would take either style tape {one at a time}. I had the thing for a few years until it quit working. I guess it got thrown out. I WISH I had kept it just for the novelty.
