I wish professor, that you were the kind of person who cares enough about Ukraine to vote AGAINST Trump.

I'm worried about the reset with Ukraine after the war. Will Ukraine remember all its citizens who were lost due to western restrictions? If I was in Ukrainian shoes, I'd be angry for many years.

The EU needs some mechanism to deal with countries that no longer comply with the ideals of the EU. At the very least, non-compliant nations should lose voting/veto rights until they return to compliance. At worst, expulsion, and a stand down period (a decade/two democratic elections) before re-eligibility.

I almost feel sorry for the guy. Almost... He wanted to go down in history as Vlad the Great, the man who rebuilt the russian empire. Instead, he will go down as the man who ruined russia. I don't know what fate awaits him, but when you consider that his former career was an East German KGB agent - well karma is a bitch sometimes. Here's hoping.

"Maybe Redacted should do a story about Putin's yachts" Or about his multiple mansions. Or on how he financed his palace in Sochi. Hell, at least Zelenski had a career as a successful entertainer. I doubt Pooptin's salary as an East German KGB agent would have paid for many palaces.

Slava Ukraini.
13
Maybe Germany should hand over East Germany in return for peace.
13
Are you sure? UK announced no restrictions on the use of Storm Shadow, but quietly reintroduced restrictions after interference from US/NATO. Sweden etc. would be under similar pressure.
13
I don't think he's deluding us listeners, I've read about 25 comments so far, and not one agrees with Gerde's interpretation. But definitely deluding himself.
13
No. Let Germany give back East Germany if Sholtz is so keen on land consessions.
10
@marks184 Not always. Temporary peace that rewards the aggressor is not preferable.
8
@mitchyoung93 I'm not sure what you are trying to say. But it seems that brutal attacks on cities is exactly ruzzia's strategy. Bucha, Mariupol, Mariinka, Bakhmut, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa... (and that's just in Ukraine).
8
I had a feeling that a lot of "life expired" weaponry, being sent to Ukraine, was overvalued.
7
You are right, we shouldn't be making jokes. Also the Supreme Court shouldn’t be giving a future dictator almost unlimited power.
7
Or maybe the EU needs to change its rules so that maybe two countries can opt out without blocking the majority. Say 90% required to pass.
7
It certainly looks that way.
7
WTf are you talking about? I'm talking about US policy causing more Ukrainian loses. There's no "sanctions" on Ukrainian loses.
6
@oldworldpatriot8920 "over the last three weeks"! - Over the last one week, more likely.
6
Interesting. That means the Crimean vote was 94% to not be russian. Nice.
6
@dropbridge Well written!! I too fear for US-Ukraine relationship after this war.
6
With regard to F-16 training, the US allocated money to train Ukrainian pilots in mid-2022, but didn't do any training for nearly 12 months. To think, there could have been F-16s protecting Ukraine nearly a year earlier, but the opportunity was squandered. The "reset" that worries me is not the one with russia, but the one with Ukraine.

@darrencorrigan8505 The key moment of resistance came when Zelensky told Biden "I don't need a ride, I need ammunition." - Yes I very much agree, and I wonder if Ukraine would have collapsed within days (as predicted) and returned to "russian vassal state" status had Zelensky accepted the ride.
5
@a5cent "...they can't get any replacement parts, because the only country who makes those is Russia". I don't think you're right there Andy. I think Ukraine does manufacture (or have good stocks of) parts for Mig29s. Ukraine has been able to revive a number of Mig29s due to parts availability and expertise that other countries don't have.
5
@comment8767 Hatred? More likely Contempt. I learned what NATO was at school (and my country isn't a member). That a 70+ yo man doesn't know about NATO, yet feels free to spout about it, deserves contempt.
5
If russia is so upset about the possibility of western missile strikes across their border, maybe they should stop escalating. Sending their foreign made missiles back to North Korea and Iran would be a good first step.
5
@Hypernefelos No, apparently British ships, and ships of all navies, are included in the ban. I assume there's an exception for Turkish ships. I wonder if the minesweepers could pass if they were part of a Ukrainian civil organisation, not military. "Minesweepers-R-Us Ltd" 😉
5
@robertadsett5273 It works largely in Ukraine's favor. Everytime Ukraine sinks a ship of ruzzia's Black Sea Fleet, ruzzia has one less ship and the number is finite. If Turkey made exceptions, ruzzia would simply replace each ship Ukraine sank, with another from one of their other fleets. I believe ruzzia is building ships as fast as it can within the Black/Azov/Caspian Sea network - but that is not very fast.
4
Unfortunately the professor didn't vote against Orange Don, therefore he's only a half-hearted supporter of democracy and Ukraine.
4
If you include those who have fled ruzzia to avoid mobilization, and those who have returned from Ukraine maimed, ruzzian losses have already exceeded one million.
4
@sargfowler9603 Even though russia already has massive reserves of fossil fuels.
4
Yeah, sorry, it was a bit vague. What i was trying to say is that both new and almost obsolete equipment was given at full book value, whereas the latter was often effectively at no cost to the US as decommissioning would be more expensive then donating to Ukraine.
4
@olgatomenko1828 What are you trying to say Olga? Your post doesn't make sense.
4
It doesn't matter if they did or didn't. Even if nobody voted Putin would get 95% voter turnout and 95% approval. It's not just their finances that are corrupt.
4
@Bob94390 Yeah, Germany tried that with Nordstream 1& 2, but russia played silly and cut off the gas.
4
@raygus999 And the "I" in BRICS is India, not Indonesia.
4
@jamesferguson2353 I thought the "T" in MTG stood for traitor.
4
@jasonrusbuldt317 What makes you think it was "indiscriminate of bystanders", when no civilians were hurt. Only active combatants. That they weren't on the frontlines doesn't mean they weren't active.
3
Agreed. If not sooner.
3
You are correct. Ukraine isn't shelling the Donbas - that's the difference.
3
"Noones looking for a reset..," Jake Sullivan is looking for a reset.
3
@yellowtunes2756 Germany? wtF are you talking about? Who's talking about Germany in this thread?
3
@a5cent I drink Earl Grey thanks. Ukraine was a large part of the USSRs manufacturing base. They probably made parts for Mig29s. They certainly have capabilities with Mig29s that other countries don't have. And I have no idea whether you are full of ruSSian propaganda, or actually know what you are talking about - but I suspect the former. For example: the smartest person in the world CAN keep an airframe flying far beyond its intended service life - in spite of your protestations. Airframes can be rebuilt/refurbished. So you are obviously talking shite.
3
I think this is actually the 2nd year...
3
Using the 'high' standards that ruZZia uses in its referenda, achieving higher than 95% should be easy.
3
Yeah, and then Jake Sullivan could persuade the European makers to not allow the weapons to be used in russia. Like he has already done with the British Storm Shadow. It's better that Ukraine keeps control.
3
Even the professor is not prepared to "make the right decision" and vote against Trump. What hope do we have when pro-Ukrainian professors won't do their best for Ukraine, for Europe, or even for the USA.
3
 @sergejsrogalevs2665 You're wrong Serge.
3
While I can't speak for the professor, I understand that a lot of nearly obsolete equipment (e.g. Bradleys) is given to Ukraine at full book value - which is a major saving, as breaking down and disposing of those vehicles in a few years time would be costly. With other equipment, such as Himars, full book value is more appropriate.
3
Peskov says study the document. Why? russia never honors anything they sign, starting with the Budapest Memorandum, and followed by a whole bunch of subsequent documents/accords/treaties, etc.
3
Those minesweepers don't look very big. Would they fit through the inland route via the Danube?
