I am in the same position. Educating myself on Ukraine and willing to help.

It seems time for all nations to confront russians living within their borders. Either apply for citizenship of the host nation, or get the hell out and go back to russia. Countries can no longer tolerate the threats of having russian citizens living within their borders as that makes the host country open to claims of in-sovereignty (of being legitimate targets for a russian takeover). russia recognised the sovereignty of Ukraine in the Budapest Memorandum, of 1994; again in the Partition Treaty on the Status and Conditions of the Black Sea Fleet, of 1997; and also in the Russo-Ukrainian Friendship Treaty, of 1997. Now they don't?
2
Agreed. I have no doubt Ukraine would give Romania/Bulgaria permission to operate them right up the coast to Odesa. And Orcistan would be less likely to attack the ships of a NATO member.
2
@JohnWilliamNowak He certainly tried hard. A lot of his followers still believe his nonsense about the "stolen" election.
2
I agree, but no need to SHOUT.
2
I agree. From the time ruSSia began using Iranian and North Korean weapons in Ukraine, Ukraine should have been allowed to use foreign weapons in Russia.
2
Thank you for a very detailed and though out post. Assuming all you say is correct, that could be a very useful move by the UN. Abuse of the UN Charter seems to be standard practice for Orcistan - I don't see why it deserves any special privileges such as the UNSC veto.
2
The irony of several NATO member states helping to shoot down Iranian missiles headed to Israeli, but not being permitted to shoot down Iranian drones, over their own territory, headed for Ukraine - should not escape us. And it is the US that is causing this "appeasement". Neville Chamberlain would be proud. No need to wonder why so much of the world hates the United States..
2
@lukeamato423 "it's about getting back political prisoners" I think your on a different page. A reset with russia is all about normalising political and commercial relationships - nothing to do with prisoners.
2
@nickfielding5685 NATO, Albania, Israel aren't in ruZZia. Ukraine needn't withdraw from ruZZia until ruZZia withdraws from Ukraine. Fair is fair.
2
No, no, it's "all going to plan".
2
Come on professor, you've effectively said you'd rather see Trump win and Ukraine lose, than vote against Trump. You need to drop your "thank you for caring about Ukraine" until such time as YOU care about Ukraine enough to vote AGAINST Trump.
2
This is ridiculous. The UK said Ukraine could use Storm Shadow into russia. France said something similar. The UK and France are sovereign nations, so the US should keep its effing nose out of their decisions. The west is playing into the hands of the russians who claim that UK and Europe are nothing but US puppets - and at the moment we can clearly see the strings. Sturmer, Macron, tell the US where they can stick their restrictions. The US has made many enemies around the world. Will they make Ukraine the next one? How will the US "reset" with Ukraine when this is over?
2
"the whole world sees this" - except Republicans, apparently. It's like in russia, honesty and free speech are not permitted any longer.
2
Trump admires Putin. Putin surrounds himself with toadies. So Trump also thinks it's great to surround himself with toadies. Witkoff is a witless toady. An amateur playing among hardened professionals.
2
@Hypernefelos "Article 19 of the Montreux Convention states...". Thanks for clarifying that. I thought it applied to allies of combatants as well.
2
You are wrong professor. Do you not know about Peter Theil and Elon Musk who are financing JD Vance? They have stated that democracy is bad. They are against democracy. Believe the worst case - it's where they all want to go. No more elections (or sham elections like in russia).
2
There are plenty of well experienced russian troops who are not subject to meat wave attacks. There is plenty of "war" to study and learn from. 10 months after the ceasefire russia will have 450,000 new troops (at the current rate of acquisition) and 6 months later these will be well trained. Yup, they'll redirect their troops, plus intergrated Belarusion army.
2
I cannot hear a word that Shapiro said. Please check your volume on inserted clips (this is not the first time).
2
Dear professor, two points: 1) 25th December is NOT Christmas for russians. They celebrate Christmas in early January (they're still heartless - but you can't claim they are being heartless on Christmas Day); 2) Ukraine is NOT x-number of hours behind the US. Ukraine is x-number of hours ahead of the US. E.g. when it's 2am in Ukraine, it's still the previous day in the US. There are almost zero countries that are 'behind' the US as the international date line runs through the Pacific Ocean.
2
Professor, you need to swallow your pride. It is great that you will not vote for Trump, that's one less vote for him. But it is not enough. If you REALLY care for democracy, and for Ukraine, you MUST vote AGAINST Trump. That equates to two votes against him. Until you are prepared to vote against Trump you are not really serious about defending democracy, nor serious about defending Ukraine.

@lilfella7415 Why does russia need more access to the Black Sea than it had in 2013?
2
@lilfella7415 Armenia needs access to the Black Sea. russia already had access to the Black Sea from 1991.
2
Not worth setting a precedent for ruzzia to follow. I don't know what firepower Turkey has lining the straits, but if it isn't rusty, or the soldiers asleep, I would think Turkey could make swiss cheese out of anything attempting to force it's way through - or not, if they were sympathetic.
2
Yes, the west has a choice. The west is far more powerful than russia. But the west lacks the will, that is russia's greatest strength.
2
No, I think she's right. Ukraine will get what's coming to it - namely: Crimea, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Lyhansk. Oh, and compensation in the way of monies and assets of ruSSia held in the west. Slava Ukraini.
2
Indeed. The US won't be able to "reset" relations with Ukraine, and Ukraine will join a long line of nations that have been screwed over by the US.

@emmaizu4406 I don't think he has press conferences anymore...
1
@xandercruz900 He committed a crime, which has been proven in court, and he has been convicted of it. I don't need to know the details to know he's a criminal.
1
YouTube are a bit of a worry. To wipe a whole channel with no right of reply, no evidence of wrongdoing, seems an excessive use - almost abuse - of their power. And when YouTube is using that power to effectively support an evil, murderous nation against a country that is moving towards democracy, it is fair to ask just what is going on.
1
But I'll wager that, behind the scenes the US has twisted Dutch arms to place restrictions. It has done so in both UK and France.
1
@jasonrusbuldt317 And I ask again: what makes you think it was "indiscrimate of bystanders"? There is no proof that you are correct. The very fact that no bystanders were hurt suggests either good luck, or that discrimination was used. You have no basis for the conclusion you have come to.
1
@jasonrusbuldt317 You don't know that. You're jumping to conclusions without a shread of proof.
1
@jasonrusbuldt317 The fact that no bystanders were hurt is 100% RELEVANT. You are totally wrong in your numerous assumptions.
1
@jasonrusbuldt317 Ahh, it's clear to me now. You're a follower of that fraud McGregor. He's been predicting the imminent downfall of Ukraine since the beginning - and has been proved wrong over 1000 times. I don't know why you bother to still listen to his vitriol.
1
@jasonrusbuldt317 Ahh, so you are a follower of Col. McGregor! That old fraud.
1
You're showing your ignorance professor, if you don't know who that interviewer is, and her reputation.
1
I haven't given you a like since you implied you'd rather let Trump (and therefore ruSSia) win than vote against him. But you can have a 'like' today.
1
It's always sad to lose someone close. Best wishes.
1
Part 2 of the peace agreement should be elections in Ukraine, AND in russia - both monitored equally for fraud and intimidation.
1
Are you sure it would be permitted? If so, that's probably a better idea all round. Fascist ruzzia would be less likely to attack Romanian ships doing exactly the same demining work (no reason why Rominia shouldn't demine all the way to Odesa in order to protect Romanian flagged ships - and everyone else's too).
1
I think you're wrong professor. I think Trump likes Putin. Trump likes power and likes playing with the "big" boys.
1
I can no longer support you professor. You couldn't vote against Donald. You are therefore the sort of person who wouldn't have voted against Adolf either. You're just a fraud professor.
1
@Thomas..Anderson I wonder if they all wear unmarked green uniforms - just like the little green men in Crimea in 2014?
1
But the US has stopped it. How, I don't know.
1
@landrum3893 You are right. Putin caused NATO expansion.
1
I agree. The number of words you cannot use to refute russian supporters, makes the task so difficult that it isn't worth the effort. The result: lies go unchallenged; the truth goes unspoken. In the end, YT rules support d1s1nfor mation.
1
@darkfox-wr9bu ruZZia claims to have "annexed" 4 Ukrainian oblasts at a time when it controlled 100% of none of them.
1
Thank-you for being the kind of person who half cares about Ukraine. All the signs were there that Trump would abandon Ukraine, but still the professor could not vote against Trump. Sure he did not vote Republican, but that's only going halfway - sitting on the fence. So he may care about Ukraine, but he failed to act FOR Ukraine. The professor means well, but really he's a fraud.
1
I'm intrigued with your comment about awarding that russian guy with a "hero of Ukraine" award. I think that could have interesting results. It might make russians sit up and pay attention. Then again, there's the saying, " don't interrupt your enemy while he's making mistakes".
