@maxsmart9116 Indeed. He was clearly fine with hunkering down and letting people vote later on. However, sometimes I think Bernie was too good for some of the people who claim to be his supporters. He didn't want people to die waiting for people to see if Biden would fall.

@kriz2665 It was after she ran for Congress. She set up a PAC that was supposed to help lefty candidates, but 39% of the money raised went into her pocket, and less than 5% went to candidates.
16
@garysmokesmeat In 1935, the average life expectancy at birth in the United States was 63. Now that government is taking a more active role in retirement and health care, it has increased over 15 years. You just work backwards from the idea Government Bad, and you try to make the reality fit, but the evidence is not there.
16
@garysmokesmeat And yet you insist that people do better when that doesn't happen, and I gave an example of a region where the average person is in much better shape, which pretty much disproves your whole argument. "He believes the same thing on Wednesday that he did on Monday, regardless of what happened on Tuesday." Stephen Colbert, 2006
16
I give you the Dunning Kruger Effect in practice.
16
@Jarod Rieth If anything, that makes him worse, because it's harder for some people to see through the mask. As recently as a couple months ago, I dealt with people insisting that weasel was "economically left."
16
@Vaughndaleoulaw Why? His husband is the brains of the whole operation. If you should feel sorry for anyone, feel sorry for their kids. They didn't do anything to deserve this.
16
Alabama Man 2.0 Jimmy Dore literally ran a video where he removed the name "Sam Seder" from an interview.
16
Caller: No one has a right to be born or to give birth. Also caller: We can't interfere with people who are alive.
16
@hangukhiphop You are aware that we used to actually have a world with much higher personal income taxes at the top and that corporate taxes were 32% of all federal revenue, right? And what happened? The CEO to employee pay ratio was about 20 or 40:1 instead of what we see now, and the government used that revenue to invest in making society better, such as funding education.
16
@mfit7110 You are aware that anything that happened after 2008 was defined by the structure of TARP, right? It would have taken a separate bill to do the things that you say that Obama should have done, but there was no political appetite for it.
16
@serpico1616 Vaush imagined two people who crashed on a deserted island. The island had coconuts, and one person passed out in the crash. The person who maintained consciousness took all the coconuts for himself while the other was sleeping. The question was how long it would take the second person to fellate the first in that situation.
16
It's pretty optimistic to think that he'll pick up on that in three years. Everything else is spot on, though ;-)
16
The fight is not to trash unions. The fight is to make unions more open and democratic. I'm in SEIU, and the big fight in every single contract is the health care package. Imagine how much more that will free the negotiating teams to fight for even better things. Maybe a 30-hour work week. Maybe an increase in employee dividends. Fight big, not small.
16
He says he's a teetotaler, but he sure does slur his words even more than usual lately.
16
"It takes great courage to stand up to our enemies. It takes even greater courage to stand up to our friends." Albus Dumbledore Emma definitely passed this test. A little bit disappointed that Sam didn't.
16
Didn't he also like Bolsanaro?
16
@bpdmf2798 And a public library to boot. I met my first Objectivist in college. One of the biggest jerks I ever met. The others I've met since haven't been a big improvement.
16
Sotomayor was picked when Obama wanted a Hispanic Justice. So much for that argument. Besides, Thomas was picked for his race in a cynical ploy to undo the great and good work of Thurgood Marshall.
16
@Addamo Boogaloo Boys pretend to be left to pull people into their movement to support a racial civil war. No red/brown alliance. Thank you for playing.
16
@dd-1280 re: Sam scolding Jimmy, if someone is pretending to be a pundit, and is completely ignorant of the basic rules of government, what would you consider the proper response? I remember a few years ago when debating someone from WV who despises Joe Manchin said that "there was no way" that he would vote for Boxer over Inhoffe for Environment and Public Works chair. When I pointed out that his vote to organize with the Dems did just that, her response was "I don't care about the rules." Well, if you want to talk about government in an informed way, you have to at least understand basic rules.
15
He's not as smart as my five year old.
15
The instant he told people in 2016 that Trump would be better than Hillary, the mask was off.
15
@TheMikeMase Except his heart is not in the right place. He is now talking up literal fascists and talking down AOC.
15
@TheShadowblade No, libertarians are inherently irrational, because they live in a theoretical world where they can't trust this powerful group, but they can just easily trust this other one. It's like the ones who pretend to be populist insisting that they hate the power of corporations but don't see the one effective check on them.
15
I've run for years, and I have had high cholesterol on and off for 16 years. Bill Rodgers, four time Boston Marathon winner and NYC Marathon winner, once had cholesterol of 265. Exercise reduces chances of bad things happening to your ticker, but it doesn't reduce it to zero.
15
I think there is something to be said about trying to figure out whether the problem with Working Families is their membership or their board thwarting democracy. The mere fact that they won't release it reminds me of the logic of Trump and his tax returns: at a certain point, you decide that what is in the document is going to do more damage than the heat for clamming up. There is no doubt in my mind that the board overruled members.
15
He thinks a bill has "bipartisan support" that literally zero members of one party voted for. He is working on a level beyond me.
15
@ashleyhope7350 Indeed. As late as 1900, men lived longer than women, and the number one cause of death for women was childbirth.
15
We do not speak of the Netflix revival.
15
The irony is that he had a debilitating stutter as a child.
15
@shinske3564 How specifically was the side that didn't call for the end of democracy and have a coup attempt "complicit"?
15
@slamandjam2 When it came to healthcare, she called Medicare for All "un-American," and if you don't see it for the obvious dog whistle that it is to call the proposal of the most famous socialist living in America today "un-American," then you don't understand a thing about politics. And Biden has consistently opposed torture. Tulsi used a scenario straight out of 24 to support it even when warned that torture doesn't work. Tulsi Gabbard is not your friend.
15
Alabama Man 2.0 One of the organizers of the March on Washington was gay. Whatever his personal views, he obviously wasn't in favor of discrimination. How many more profiles are you going to make, you sad, pathetic man?
15
@elaineklein2385 Obviously, you didn't watch the 2016 debate where literally every prediction Sam made came true, and every one that Jimmy made was false. And this was easy stuff like McConnell would go nuclear if Democrats tried to filibuster the first Trump appointee to the Supreme Court.
15
@3natey It would be great if he made it to Pennsylania and got next to nothing along the way just so I can get the chance of going to a town hall and asking him if he considers the poor and disabled to be second class citizens since they don't get his money automatically, and he considers it a "right of citizenship" for everybody else. I would go so far as setting up a dummy e-mail account just to get in.
15
A lot of us have been vindicated. It was pretty lonely dealing with the cult on some threads that went into triple digits.
15
Knock Knock! Who's there? Someone who never ever says anything substantive. Oh, hi, Mike R.
15
Thomas didn't say that he would uphold Roe. He tried to pretend that he had never even once thought about the issue in his hearing despite being a law student when it came down.
15
Some people think that talking fast equals a fast working brain. His awkward pauses prove that it's just an act.
15
May I ask why you haven't jumped ship yet?
15
@800half *solely You are absolutely correct. It's like these people who complain that wind and solar are too expensive while ignoring the subsidies of fossil fuels.
15
I remember seeing Bernie on The Ed Show in 2014 and early 2015 saying, "If no one will run who will stand up against Wall Street greed, I will." It was pretty obvious to me at the time that someone he wanted was Warren, who at the time was the third mist popular politician in America behind Hillary (who at the time was off the stage, which always gains popularity) and Christie (still riding the wave of his Sandy high), so she would have won if she ran. Now, she seems like she has something to be desired.
15
I think that it's perfectly fair to "hate the player" if the player games the rules to give him/herself all of the cards.
15
The Green Party ultimately lost that lawsuit, but it should be more and more obvious by now that the Green Party leadership are a bunch of con artists, and its voters are useful idiots.
15
The biggest difference between the movements rising in the 1930snand today is that the Republican Party was in so much trouble that they could afford to lose several points. Hoover was under 40%. We're dealing with at least 46% of the popular vote that will not move from the Republicans no matter what (that is the low mark since 1972 excluding the two Perot elections).
15
@jerryhampton5755 Usually. Even if you do have Native American ancestry, there's a big difference between saying that you have such ancestry and trying to use such ancestry for career advancement or to deflect against one's own racism. I have some Native ancestry, but I have never once listed anything other than white on an application, because I have no tribal ties.
15
The idea of paternity leave needs to be much more normalized. Even in a nuclear family, Mom needs a break sometimes. When my daughter was born, I asked for parental leave, and one of the people in the chain actually called it maternity leave. You couldn't fix one letter?
15
I never expected him to go this far down this road, but he always seemed to have a contrarian streak, and he was prone to both siderism.
15
@xiam5941 If your "principle" falls apart under the slightest scrutiny, it is just an intellectually indulgent act rather than a desire for what government or lack thereof will look like. And as far as picking cotton goes, [in Homer Simpson whisper] the cotton gin was already a thing.
