His amendment got the $600/week in supplemental unemployment last year that prevented 2020 from making the Great Depression look like a mild hiccup. It's like you're not even trying to make a decent argument based in reality.

  10. Me, too. I spent too much time and too much energy fighting for Bernie and his message to give up now. I will vote for the nominee in November, but it is 100% because Iive in a swing state. If I still lived in West Virginia, Biden couldn't use my vote, so he wouldn't get it.

Find a local group that is working on the nomination. Maybe a local DSA chapter or a local Bernie group. Keep working and then work some more. Instead of obsessing over conspiracy theories, put some of that energy into getting him elected.

  34. I think everyone would have been happier if the popular vote and Electoral College were reversed. That way, Trump could always say he won without having to actually do the job, and hundreds if thousands of people would be alive who are not now because we would have had a competent response to coronavirus.

  40. It depends on whether or not UBI is paid for with a regressive tax and whether or not it is a Trojan horse to gut the existing social safety net. Assuming that it is not, we need the following societal solutions first: 1) Medicare for All 2) Green New Deal 3) Federal minimum wage of $15/hour indexed to inflation 4) Federal Jobs Guarantee 5) Free Public Postsecondary Education 6) Student Loan Forgiveness and Medical Debt Forgiveness 7) Workplace Democracy 8) Affordable Housing Guarantee Then, and only then, do we need to evaluate our situation and determine if we need a UBI and, if so, what it should look like.

If someone lives in a state where Biden can't use your vote or doesn't need it, have at it, but you are so right. If you live in a swing state, you can't play with people's lives.

As far as it not mattering, you are aware that someone will be in the White House to either sign bills or veto them. If you encourage people to vote for the latter or ignore the position entirely, you are making the "something" more difficult to actually accomplish. If you want something self-indulgent that will leave you in the same place, you might want to get a room and some lube.

  46.  Tony Mario  You really don't get how health insurance or taxes work, do you? Even if you look at that figure, it would be a drop in the bucket of American health costs. Based on how much Bernie wants to set the taxes at, I would pay a lot more than $1000, but I would pay a fraction of what I pay now. I don't want to start a new insurance system using private money. I want the existing public one (Medicare) expanded to cover everyone, even if they can't pitch in $1000.

Part of this conspiracy rests under the idea that the Democratic establishment would rather lose to Trump than win with Bernie, but if people show up in Milwaukee, they will suddenly back down? Richard Clarke once said that conspiracy theories rely on believing in both the total in competence and total shrewdness of the government all at the same time. As for me, I will keep doing the work to get Bernie to 1990.
