For union elections at my office, a candidate literally wrote down an opponent's name with 15 minutes left in the filing period. After that election was invalidated (due to other issues), we eventually had a vote where we approved ranked choice voting for the office.

Speaking of global warming, I can't believe how quickly people on the left switched to the Luntz term of "climate change." At one point, Al Gore made that mistake, but now he calls it the climate crisis, as it should be known. I think we should definitely demilitarize the police, but why not call "defund the police" "smart policing" instead? This is just off the top of my head, and it's better than defund.

  19.  @f_youtubecensorshipf_nazis  I have only had the first one so far (I get my second on the 12th), and other than the arm soreness that day and being a little bit tired, I hadn't had much yet. I would much rather deal with side effects than the disease. When I was 12, I got the measles because I needed a booster and (irony alert) was home sick from school when they were giving it out, but the doctor said that I would have gotten it much worse if I hadn't gotten the dose when I was younger. As bad as it was, I'd hate to imagine if I got full-blown measles.

If you want to see how stupid he really is, watch his 2016 debate with Sam Seder, where Sam repeatedly points to why Democrats would be unable to stop Moscow Donald from getting his SCOTUS pick, and Jimmy insists that they can filibuster, even though Sam tells him that the GOP can go nuclear and there's nothing Democrats could do to stop them.

  31. They'd still have the majority, but it is a lot easier to get things done with a 51-49 majority than a 50-50 with a tiebreaker. Especially since 2024 will be a rough calendar with all three Democratic Senators in states Trump won up for re-election.

  49.  @IAmValenwind  Well, I never said that it was an exact match, but the part of calling people to worship him seems like it is coming true, and I get the distinct feeling that there would be a lot of fundamentalists fooled if there was ever anything like the tribulation period given the way that they have corrupted everything about Jesus: after telling the Rich Young Ruler to give everything away to the poor, they instead take the Parable of the Talents literally and say that is justification for the rich getting richer. There have been churches where I, an actual veteran, get downright uncomfortable with the militarism on the Sunday closest to 11/11. A message of tolerance for the woman at the well becomes a message of exclusion. Jesus would weep, indeed, at what many do and claim to follow.
