I used to work as a theatre techie and Brand came to perform at my venue. I was about 19, so this would have been circa 2008. Before the show, Brand had a queue of girls outside his dressing room and they were being let in one or two at a time. We all knew what was going on in there. And I know that many of those girls were under 18. We didn't say anything 'cos it seemed clear to us that it would've been our word against his management but I regret that now. I know that doesn't really have any relevance on whether he's left or right, a loon or a genius... but I think it's something worth knowing about him.

Concentration camps were "invented" by a Spanish general, but it's absolutely true that the British Empire picked up the idea and really ran with it.
3
I think you're conflating drag queens with trans people.
3
I thought the main furore with the Schofield mess was that he'd been grooming the lad for years.
3
@nathanaelsmith3553 Yes, they are.
3
I've never heard anyone seriously suggest there is. But the shower in this video are an embarrassment.
3
@John Not really. Most of them have the same background.
3
Are you trying to argue that politicians don't routinely blow up cultural issues to distract from more pressing matters?
3
The guys from Manchester Airport are on bail awaiting their court appearance. Stop saying "we" when you don't speak for all of us.
3
As an equally old git, I think you're spot on.
3
Because all "cancelled" really means is that people are tired of that person's nonsense, their comments or behaviour. It means there's not much audience for that person anymore. You'll see it more with artists because it's a bigger deal to them. Having an audience defines what they do. For this lot, they are their own audience and the money flows differently. It doesn't matter if we, as a society, tell them we're sick of their trash.
3
@alfamonk While I respect the man, I think he's more suited for the role he's in. I wager he'd agree. But we need more honest folk worthy of respect in government, so that people like Lynch and Dempsey can negotiate deals in good faith.
3
Lots of poppies being worn on the peace march though.
3
Who do you think you're fooling?
3
The problem people have is they listen to moral panic merchants who feed them a load of bull that they freak out over, never stopping to check the reality of the claims they first got so outraged over.
3
@BenJ2020 An honest one.
3
@anonomous8719 You lied then, to misrepresent facts. If the figures you gave are true then he's pocketing his salary, which is less than £100k, and over time may have accrued a million. As long as he's not spending anything and has had successful investments. That's not "pocketing milliions". So you're a liar.
3
He got fired from being prime minister. He's resigning from being leader of the party. Always happens.
3
@octavianpopescu4776 I do broadly agree with what you're saying. I'm aware of a few politicians, even a couple conservatives, who seem worth a damn. And I agree that we have a political and media environment that actively works to sideline and malign them. So what I'm getting at is that the oldest and most dominant aspect of our political system is teeming with corruption, that engages with media figures like Murdoch and lobbyists like the Kochs to create this toxic culture we're faced with.
3
@johncorrigan2942 Can you give at least one example?
3
But yet here you are.
3
@kevoreilly6557 That's not the point. You can't cry that Hamas wouldn't respect a ceasefire when we have a very clear and recent example of the IDF having no respect for peace. And it's interesting that now the numbers of casualties matter... what's it like having absolutely no integrity?
3
@BruceUnfiltered Or the one guy who refused to sign a release form.
3
@trevorbryan9268 "Yeah, but, I know a guy..."
3
At this time of year, yes it is.
3
@AntonyHudson-pi3ty Keep telling yourself that, kid.
3
@bbrext I have a sneaky feeling that they're being sarcastic.
3
@bearsbreeches Look at the profile, as well. Account only 1 month old and this is their first engagement on this channel. To me, that raises a couple of flags.
3
@Geffo555 Okay. That's not the point I'm making.
3
@Believe-you-me- Oh sure, I'll just drop her a text and ask her. Oh wait, don't have her number. But I got some friends in Glasgow, I'll just ask them to pass it on? Nothing to support what you've said, nothing but weak comebacks.
3
@Believe-you-me- What, that she once said "ya wank" in a tweet? Who cares? Seems very fragile to be so upset by that.
3
@robm4601 Keep kidding yourself.
3
@davidedwards1476 That's a no, then, since you're having to reach and include money he doesn't actually get paid.
3
Okay. These asylum seekers aren't the people who dictate our policy on our homeless. That's the government, who also dictate our policy on asylum seekers.
3
@awolf913 They're demonstrably not the same, just as you can do a study of gender roles across cultures and see there's no fixed position. As for biological sex being a spectrum, that's self evident. If maleness is determined by testosterone and different men have different testosterone levels, what else can that mean but that sex is a spectrum? You yourself have offered no substance in your denial. Despite what you say, you're the one arguing based upon your imaginary definitions.
3
As an autistic man with autistic family members too, getting real tired of people trying to use it as a smokescreen for his behaviour...
3
@seebarry4068 If you inferred that from what I said, that's worrying. What I said is that basic principles like hygiene and respect are something that you shouldn't need someone like Peterson to tell you. And since that constitutes Peterson's best advice, I'd say he's not worth anyone's time.
3
@littledrummerboy2907 All you've got are lies.
3
@danielwebb8402 Do the words "overworked and overburdened" mean anything to you?
3
Nah. He's an Edison, not a Tesla.
3
@davidgreen6490 Are you just creating your own reality in your head now? It takes this lot half a year just to consult and produce a proposal for tying their shoes. Yet you think they'll be able to remove us from the ECHR, set up a treaty and rig all the necessary workarounds they'd need... in barely over a month? What planet are you on?
3
Seems like the conversation shouldn't be about trying to ban smoking but rather about if the tax raised off tobacco sales is being properly used and invested sensibly.
3
Mick seems flustered, frequently. This makes him seem less confident in his points and less knowledgeable. I agree that he'd have been better served if he'd kept his head, spoke slower, made his points more clearly. In fairness, he's sat across from a man who's authored a book advocating for a new aristocracy, I'd be hard pressed not to rise from my chair and twist his head off...
3
@Jack-fs2im That's painfully untrue on every count.
3
@stewie7338 Did you bother to check them yourself, first? You really should have...
3
@maxcsw5809 Not at all what I said. I see you like trying to put words in other people's mouths. No, the point is trying to attack Corbyn for how bad he would have been for us economically is laughably weak when it's totally hypothetical and our actual government have royally shafted our economy.
3
@eyesodd Oh, that bit simply isn't true. You don't need to say "reading comprehension" either, it makes you sound pretentious but also foolish. This is a text based discussion, you only need to say "comprehension".
3
@brianmiles5237 Was referring to your suggestion that either party has ever advanced the idea of communism, actually. But go on, give us the history.
3
@brianmiles5237 But neither of them have ever done anything to advance communism in the UK. They've just said things. They've not done anything. Pretty basic, chap.
3
@tiffa01 No, he's not. Most people aren't saying anything like this.
