Singapore is back to school since 7 weeks. 100 % mask wearing policy, staggered starting and ending times are the norm. So far there is no case. Bus drivers, gym instructors, food preparers/cooks, people who participate on private functions - yes. But not pupils.
72
The clearest presentation of facts and fact based interpolations on Youtube, John! I do not think that many people would panic if there were in the know. Being in the know is half the job of protecting yours and others done.
61
I don't want to hear anything from the WHO. Even if they are truthful now, I don't value their opinion. Even if they had the vaccine I wouldn't want it. Format and install another operating system.
56
All the countries where mask wearing was made compulsory very early are doing so much better than others.
49
27:14 in Singapore the official line is no training, gym or other physical activity for 2 weeks, valid for everyone, not only for people with cardiac history.
42
The world will soon detect that we all have been lied to, and that awakening will be harshly. I hope a miracle will happen very soon. Please let this be our last warning shot!
33
The swap tests are ineffective, since this is an infection of the lower respiratory tract. I suspect this is why China switched to CT scan. Neither they nor the WHO said a word about it. The catastrophe on the ship teaches us that the virus is airborne. Neither the Chinese nor the WHO mentioned it. But this is the reason why they are washing roads and houses in China, spray plants with bleach. 80 % cases are mild, that sounds so cool. Still, 7000 people died. Not so cool.
28
I am appalled about the stupidity of some, now questioning the efficacy of masks, or calling the entire virus crisis a hoax. The German administration and health system had been quite successful managing the crisis, and now so many think there is nothing, it's a hoax.
24
The first mysterious lung disease cases were in Milano hospitals by mid November. I don't think they will say that loudly, because of political turmoil it could cause.
23
The USA is falling apart. It is no wonder to me. The cracks in the society are breaking completely, it seems. Just like the ship with deeps cracks is being commanded by a captain steering it even deeper into the highest storm waves.
22
He does not want to draw unproductive attention by the Youtube censor with a title
21
@rvwalktour2627 There were patients with a mysterious lung disease in Milano hospitals by mid of November. The first infected French person was identified, a fish seller who never travelled anywhere. His illness was fully developed around Christmas time 2019, therefore he must have been infected by early December. The hospital kept blood samples because they did not know what to do with the illness ... and that's how it became known.
19
As well, this repeated highlighting "retired nurse" ... ??? It has a bad side taste.
19
@Dermot Fitzpatrick All children above 3 years old wear masks here. Those below 3 yo wear face shield or are kept home. Very few children are infected at all. I hope Singapore can keep it that way. In the beginning people tried to bypass but later the wearing rate became almost 100 %. I do not know if children brought the virus into families, but since Singapore does meticulous tracing, it does not seem so. There are simply only very few infected children.
18
Exactly, Sue. The cognitive skills, it seems, have degraded so much.
18
@MelaninMagdalene massively conspiracy theories of the worst kind imaginable, I could not believe it. The mask is introduced to kill us, deep state's plan is in action, Bill Gates medicine will kill billions ... this is now a massive problem! Something went completely wrong with this generation, absolutely inaccessible to arguments and repellent to facts. And it's not only a small minority. It is highest time to take this absolutely serious.
18
The 13.9 % is in line with the German Heinsberg study = 15 %, from one of the German clusters.
18
Russia has great scientists and always had, no doubt. What came a bit short here, Sputnik has higher efficacy (higher than the others) with the UK and South African strain, and it has excellent efficacy with elderly people, based on current phase 3 data. The 2 vector approach is a brilliant idea. I do have no idea why someone would want to dilute 91.6 % efficacy with something that has a lower number.
18
Will people THEN remember that China NOW says this virus is much lesser dangerous than the normal flu virus? The next step of their marketing will be they will slowly start to explain to the world it is a kind of natural accident. I saw the promotional video, goes like this: "There are thousands of corona viruses in world that naturally live in animals, but sometimes they can jump over to humans".
16
Listening to the timeline that you brought up here, it seems it was wanted this to happen, someone wanted this virus to spread.
16
These are the 3 pillars of successful infection crisis leadership: - Test quickly - Isolate - Don't hesitate to impose restrictions
15
@machiavellivip2767 amazing, this ignorance
15
I would prefer the vaccine to come from a country whose president did not try to bribe a German company, with the aim to make the vaccine exclusive to the US.
15
@Benaiah Ahmadinejad especially against Marsians and Vulcanians. Mr. Spock, please beam the offenders away.
13
@ghwk-phd2784 Radical virus deniers vs. doomsday hide in a bunker people? Naaah, that this painting an unsuitable picture. The world is not black and white. The vast majority does not question the existence of this virus and the crisis. Some believe it's enough we are doing, few want to do even more, some believe a more lax approach would be as good, some acknowledge it's there but far not as bad, and we should continue as usual as much as possible. That's the vast majority, probably 80 % or so. Who denies the virus can only be taken as serious as a flat earther.
13
I had been - or better, I was very sad watching the BBC going down the drain. It went from one of the strongholds of excellence in journalism and news reporting to a US-Style shxthole. I thought this before Dr. Campbell's video, and hardly watch anything BBC nowadays. They can continue their faux reporting and distorting reality, but without me. I wouldn't even bother discussing with them.
13
It is the sign that the majority gave up and does not have much interest anymore, same applies probably for sticking to the rules.
13
@rflsr5276 it would have been important that the US implemented travel restrictions also to South Korea and Italy.
12
By mid if this year Germany wants to have a fairly clear picture were the infections are, and who is immune. We do not need to wait for full herd immunization. If only 25 or 30 % can participate again on a normal life, many social structures can work again. BTW. Taiwanese doctors say the masks the WHO did not want for a long time are actually more effective than physical distancing.
12
4:53 Global containment I concur. The UK is not alone. It is as if they want the virus to spread fast.
12
In China they locked off entire high rise apartment buildings, if only one case was found. But that is partially due to the way the many Chinese waste water systems are build I was told.
12
The Swedish had and have a strategy. It is to protect the old and vulnerable, and leave the younger generation decide themselves what and how much they want to do. There were and are clear recommendations and most followed them. That's what Swedish people do because they trust the government. There was a big mistake in the elderly homes. It was not intended, but the problem is long solved.
12
@lily-rose7982 Your government takes well care of the people. They know that prevention is so much better on what is basically a huge island.
12
@lindawilson5527 They are wanting it to spread, I concur. There is no other reasonable explanation.
12
Stop people going on holiday. Most can't handle the responsibility. Full stop.
11
@lighttheskyogod3666 No, it is more like the Asian countries did lesser to restrict spreading. It is not a racial biased virus. Another thing are the people. In Singapore people still went to work or church, even they were already diagnosed by a doctor. The stupidity is horrible. In wetsern countries people will listen more to such instructions given, for example not bragg how the broke the isolation.
10
That is why I did not think that locking people into houses is the best. Elderlies or sick people, good. But young, healthy and strong? Wear a mask and go outside. Thailand is doing very well with very simple and cheap methods.
10
The low death rate in Singapore: The infected migrant workers are mostly young and healthy.
10
Here in Singapore children are back to school since 14 of June. No significant occurrence of infections. 100 % wear masks.
10
China is orchestrating efforts to stir the blame for the origin of the virus to India.
10
At the same time when the WHO was saying people don't need masks, China was busy sweeping every single wholesaler worldwide empty. I mean ... if the only reason was so that mask can be reserved for health personnel, then they could say exactly that, and at the same time tell people stitch yourself together one on basis of these internet instructions, ask a seamstress, wear a motorcycle bandera, or at least scarf. It's not a graded professional mask. But as John explained, it helps to reduce spread. No, they said: No need, it even can do more harm than good. That's what was said.
10
Anticipation, foresight, planning. John, this exactly seems to be the problem with the current generation of leaders and managers.
10
Tedros holds significant volumes of shares in Chinese investment projects in his home country, Ethiopia.
10
Total lock-down will drop-down the figures radically, if people don't flout these rules in private with drinking parties and such. We had that for 7 weeks here in Singapore, successfully. Almost everyone prefers the mask since then.
9
And this is what can be done: https://www.sbs.com.au/news/anti-maskers-in-indonesia-have-been-forced-to-dig-graves-for-coronavirus-victims-as-punishment
9
No problems from schools here in Singapore either. Lesson resumed 12. of June. The problem is Europe is - travelling - private parties and clubbing - some countries eased restrictions too early
9
We all have to be very careful from now on and through the winter season.

The US is in several areas closer to a developing country, and not a sophisticated country. If you need to read instructions to know about not putting bleach onto your food, then there is a substantial basis in terms of education lacking.
9
Wear a mask. Most of the top countries such as Taiwan and Hong Kong had early, strict rules for wearing masks. Taiwanese experts already in February wearing a mask is more effective, as compared to distancing. Wear a mask, do not listen to the WHO! It is a small inconvenience as compared to being in the hospital. For self fabricating a mask we can use a T-Shirt jersey for the inside, a moisture wicking breathable material such as used for sport shirts for the outer layer, and for the centre layer a piece of a Hepa filter such as used for air cleaners or air-con systems.
