It is not only Germany. I still have a hard time fully blaming the previous German governments for trying with diplomacy and trade. We all must rethink relationships to dictatorships, all dictatorships regardless their colour or location, and have no business with oppressive regimes in regard to essential supplies.

The decision if any country should join the Nato should be entirely based on considerations if this inclusion will be good for the Nato as a whole, and useful for the country which wants to join. It should NOT be based on doubts that are unique to one single other member, and particular not, if these objections in itself are subject to criticism and based on questionable politics of that country. That is not how a Union could work.
