  13.  @hansellius  Exactly. There wasn't anywhere to go. JJ understood that and had to recreate the trilogy from scratch trying to squeeze it all into one movie. What we ended up with was sort of a collection reel of 'what could have been' highlights. And taken it with those conditions in mind makes it an impressive feat regardless.

How hard is it to simply hire four or five giant Star Wars neckbeards and put them together in a room for a year and pick and chose what they've come up with.   24. South Korean entertainment is going through a renaissence at the moment. So many good TV shows and movies released in the past five years. It's hard to keep up. I highly encourage anyone to give it a try, a lot of it is on Netflix.

  28. I liked TRS, I know I'm in a very small minority, but I genuinely believe this is all that could be done with where TLJ left it. I do wish Rian Johnson was tasked to make episode 9 because I would love to see his attempt at digging him out of the hole he dug for himself rather than have an adult step in and clean up the mess he made.

  30. There's no intellectual property that has this much documentation, this amount of goodwill and this amount of raw talent willing to work for it than Star Wars has. Pair this with Disney's billions and it should've been a shoe-in from the start. The fans didn't even expect much either, no mind-boggling plot-lines or subverted expectations or whatever, they just wanted to revisit their beloved universe. But no, instead a few ideologues saw the franchise as the perfect Trojan Horse to inject their cultural commentary into the mainstream instead.

  37. Right, creative courage isn't exactly their forte. However I should add I've never heard of the Son of Mortis, I don't follow anything beyond the movies. Just the idea that he's already rooted in the lore and that it would be picked up by hardcore fans is meaningful to a casual fan like me.

  38. @Toshokan Neko Exactly. Torching every plot point to the ground is easy. Doesn't take any genius to do that. Cleaning up that mess while at the same time still delivering on stuff Star Wars fans have come to expect is nearly impossible.

  44. Rey being some all powerful mary sue could've worked if the story wasn't about her. If she were a character doing things in the background that everyone became to rely on and she suddenly dropped out or turned, then you got real tension. But alas, she's both a all-powerful and the protagonist.

  49. People like my mom who aren't tuned in to all this drama. She also likes every instalment of Divergent and The Hunger Games and The Maze Runner. She wants to take the whole family to Star Wars and I don't have the heart to ruin the experience for her even though I believe even she may be disappointed by this.
