  18. It does have value for people who didn't grow up with financial education from their parents. I have friends who didn't understand that rent is an expense, while a mortgage builds equity. I had another who didn't understand why he should invest his money in a 401k instead of a savings account. Rich Dad, Poor Dad is good at explaining basic accounting principles. Everything else from Kiyosaki is garbage.

Now, "poverty" is just a measure to how well off one is relative to everyone else. Even if Mike's income doubles, if Mike's neighbors' income triples, then by liberal logic, Mike is now poorer.

  31.  @Lewd_Fox  Every step in the supply chain is value adding. For example, getting iron ore from the ground gets a cheap commodity. Turning that iron ore into steel adds value. Turning that steel into an automobile adds value. American manufacturing doesn't make a lot of cheap crap that requires unskilled labor, like what is commonly made in China. US manufacturing is now dominated by college graduates (white collar) using advanced technology to make high-end goods like medical equipment, cars, air planes, and highly specialized technology.
