Why has the West wasted a good 2 months of the time did nothing in preparation while China was battling the virus quarantine a whole 11 million city plus a 65 million province, did they not see if this was a ''flu'', China would not have fought it like a war suffering huge economic cost as well as lives, now the West is learning it the hard way I am afraid.

I have a feeling the UK is waiting for when all the intensive care beds will be used up to get up and do something, a school near me (Kent) just had a confirmed case yesterday, the school is still kept open business as usual, I am glad I am keeping my child off school since yesterday, I have to take my responsibilities while others and the gov don't.

The young could die as likely as old even the ''strong and healthy'' as they consider themselves, the death rate is 14% over age 80 and 8% over age 60, and in many cases the lungs are already seriously damaged before you even develop fever and cough, the recent autopsy result has shown the lungs were filled with thick mucus and even constant oxygen will not make any difference. Time to take it seriously and the only effective way is restriction of movements and cancel large gatherings like closing schools to start with.

  23. 2 months ago, Western media was all about China silenced the Dr who warn the world and criticisms of medical staff not have enough PPE so having to work 8 hours not eat or drink, and now what has the UK government been doing when the NHS frontline staff don't even have enough and correct PPE to wear, but you suppose to do better than China especially you had at least an extra month to prepare!

The herd immunity is still very much their plan as they are suggesting to get people back to work the more people get it the quicker the life can get back to normal because they will be immune, but for how long we don't know, so the idea is still to get as many people infected as possible while it means millions will die at the same time.

  28. @Meme Bump The UK has done nothing, people came off airplanes from these affected countries given some leaflets and then walk straight into communities, no check no monitoring and no follow up, and by the time they show symptoms after 7 -14 days they would have infected hundreds, the UK gov has done nothing as if they want the spread to take hold. The UK will be the next Italy in 2 weeks time no doubt, I also don't think the UK is testing enough.

The Western media is just good at lying and change the story when they need to fit their narratives, when demonising China, they only tell you the number of dead and a much higher death rate by saying that the dead was not properly counted in, and when they need to reassure their own citizens they now tell them a large number have recovered which is about 85% and stress that 1% overall death rate by saying there are many asymptomatic patients were not counted in, they claim either way and sadly people always believe them.

  37.  Nspnspker  If the Chinese data is a fairy-tale, then the UK and US numbers reflect nothing in reality either, UK: no community testing at all, no checks and quarantine at all at airports and letting passengers from infection hot-spots walk straight into communities while locking down good citizens at their homes, total pointless, not testing medical staff, home care staff, let them walk in between Covid wards and regular wards in hospital freely and from one old people's homes to another without any checks and tests. Old people showing symptoms in care homes wait 2 weeks just to get tested and wait another week to get results, infected people asked to stay at home for 7 days instead of 14 days as WHO advises while infect the whole family in the mean time. US: Only a flu says the president only a week ago. China did a lot more to contain the virus, most Western people have no idea. They are getting confused with totally out of control outbreaks in the West with people still refuse to wear masks and proper lock down and strict quarantine measures in the whole of China that limited the virus largely in a single 11 million city Wuhan. That is why the numbers are totally not comparable.

  38.  @gregoryjones2457  OK, so, I am Chinese, I get my info from many Chinese sites, they publish info faster than the West so that is why a lot of time you will not find them in English language articles unless they are published there as an official research by Chinese medical professionals which take a while to reach to these medical journals. Fever and cough only present in some 50% of cases but CT scan imaging will show that the infection has already started in the lungs that is why when diagnose/treatment is delayed due to no presence of fever and/or cough would be why some patients' illness worsen very quickly in the second week after seemingly stable or mild at the start, this is what I heard from Chinese doctors during an interview. The autopsy was purely to help doctors to understand why it seems the ventilators fail to make any difference for oxygen saturation because the tiny holes in the lungs are clogged up with thick mucus therefore incapacitated, so if they can find a way to clear it then it will reach a whole different outcome and save lives. Again that is what I have heard from the doctor who carried out the autopsy.

For anyone still don't want to wear masks because you are told it wouldn't work or for other reasons, I just want to say, masks do work, just look at the countries in Asia where everyone wears it, the virus spreads slower there. It helps to protect everyone, the key point is asymptomatic people spreads the disease and we simply don't know who these asymptomatic people are, so we must all wear masks when we go to supermarkets and other crowed places if we have to be, very important!!!

The UK government failed the British people, they sat on their hands for more than 2 months while mocking and demonising China like they always do, they only have themselves to blame, only 2 weeks ago they refuse to close schools as they say children are not affected, total ignorance and stupidity. The UK is already worse than Italy when Italy was at the same point in time and the outbreak has only just started. The high death numbers reflect the so called national pride NHS is a shamble, but they have to blame this to their government as they cut down the funding to it while bailing out the rich bankers since 2008.

That is what happened in China, the medical staff were either provided food in hospital for for free or had their food shopping delivered to home or hotels they are staying by volunteers or army, they should not go out shopping as they potentially could be infected due to high risk in their job.
