1) Why is it sooo unbelievable that students would be angered by their university's complicity with a genocidal state that they would camp on a lawn in protest? 2) I think you vastly over estimate the IRGC's reach and organizing capability.
2
Is the army doing roadside safety checks to make sure semi trailers have the right tire pressure?
2
@brendanbruce6135 Suburbanites are welcome in the city (for business, pleasure, education whatever) it is just their cars that should stay at home.
2
Yes! That is exactly what Palestinian people want to do. But Israel does not recognize their Right of Return, in violation of international law.
2
ACAB. The cops and prosecutors put this poor man and his family through hell for three years (and potentially for many more years if he had been convicted) rather than admit they had f***ed up.
2
NOBODY. IS. PAYING. PROTESTORS.
2
These students are on the right side of history. There is nothing "radical" or "extreme" about opposing an ongoing gen0cide or calling for change from you university which is invested in an apatheid state.
2
Hey genius, Olivia Chow hasn't even been sworn in yet. How about blaming the 12 years of austerity in toronto under conservative mayors Tory and Ford.
2
These degranged drivers are acting so entitled. You do not have a right to drive your private vehicle into the park. Being told you cannot drive into the park does not mean your are being oppressed or your rights violated. Do you expect to drive into a shopping mall? No. High Park IS accessible by two subway stations, two streetcar routes, multiple bus routes AND there is a mini passenger train inside the park.
2
True story, as a child Doug Ford once sh!t his pants while riding a bike. 🚲💩😭 Ever since that traumatic event he has held a petty grudge against people who enjoy cycling.
2
Well maybe the glass of your popemobile was too thick to see that +50,000 people live in that area and generally get along fine. If you look at per capita police data, JaneFinch does not stand out as significantly more dangerous than other Toronto neighbourhoods. There are other areas with more per capita homicides and many areas with more per capita assaults, robberies and autothefts.

They are calling for the university to divest the endowment funds from the Israeli businesses and the military industrial complex which arms Israel.

ACAB
1
GTFOH with that xenophobic shit. You think there were no murders in Canada prior to 1967?
1
Millions? Only in your fever-dreams.
1
LOL Israel controls the borders in and out of Gaza, so you can't "go there." Also, students are protesting the complicity of their own universities, which have endowment funds invested in the arms industry and in Israel.
1
@iLuv2Cheat Is it so hard to believe that people are genuinely upset about an ongoing genocide and their university's complicity with the state committing the genocide? Upset enough that they would camp on the lawn of the university? I think your cynicism says more about you than the protestors. Touch grass.
1
So many brain-wormed 🧠 🐛 fascists in the comments are more concerned about iLlEgAl pRoTeStS and tReSsPaSsInG than they are about the gen0cide being committed by Israel.
1
The park is still open to cars Monday -Friday.
1
Wow. Peope in these comments are so ready to embrace the boot of fascism. They cannot stand the sight of a duly elected dark-skinned muslim woman standing in solidarity with colonized people. No one is fooled when you say "I'm not a bigot, BUT..." Y'all would not be saying this sh!t about politicians supporting Ukraine or celebrating St Patrick's Day.
1
What hatred is being spewed? The ire of protestors is directed at the university.
1
Lotta people in these comments seem eager to privatize health care until it costs them $100,000 out of pocket to fix a broken leg. That's the current state of American healthcare. Like, do you not realize that the our system is being deliberately sabotaged to make privatite care more attractive? Who benefits? Just look at how Mike Harris deregulated long-termcare and now he's on the Board of Directors of a major LTC company, being paid $250k/year.
1
@tundra1770 oh no! It's iLlEgAl?! Why didn't someone say something? LOL why are these pi$$babies more concerned about a few tents than the actual ongoing genocide?
1
While Mark Saunders was Chief of Police he denied that there was a serial killer active in the Church-Wellesley Village, targeting South Asian men, despite the insistence of the community. Later he blamed the community for not coming forward with information.
1
Opposing a genocide is radical?
1
@samg8012 You are significantly overestimating how many people rely on cars in Toronto. As of 2016, 28% of Toronto Households do NOT own a car and in some wards that is as high as 55%. That data comes from the 2016 Transportation Tomorrow Survey, just Google "Toronto car ownership."
1
Don't be absurd. Nobody applying to uni does research into whether that school has investments in arms manufacturing or Israeli apartheid. They shouldn't have to do that research anyway because universities shouldn't be invested in the arms industry.
1
@chrisd4112 Please go ahead a describe the "obvious" signs of an iLlEgAl mIgRaNt
1
It's incredible how NO ONE (not university admins, not politicians, not pundits, not YouTube commentators) try to offer an assessment or rebuttal to the SUBSTANCE of the demands from Palestine-solidarity activists. Nobody says "the university should maintain its investments in the military industrial complex which arms Israel because..." Instead, it's just character assassination, handwringing about trespassing, false claims about anti-Semitism, or the old "outside agitator" trope. Because there is no argument against divestment that doesn't make you sound like a racist, psychopath or gen0cide-denier.
1
This scandal has nothing to do with the NDP and everything to do with the corruption of Doug Ford, his ministers and staffers, and their developer friends/donors. The crooked scheme to delist parts of the Greenbelt was about ensuring big profit for a few developer cronies and not about addressing the housing crisis.
1
@plantbasedsenior4240 Exactly! The Canadian government, through Crown corporations such as the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, built tens of thousands of homes across the country in the 1940s and 1950s.
1
@jeremypaluck4246 "never again" what? Never again stand by while a state military with the complicit support of US, Canada, and EU indiscriminately bombs civilian hospitals and refugee camps?
1
@letfreedomreignhonk324 This protest has nothing to do with Remembrance Day.
1
@yl9154 I have revised my previous comments. FWIW Canada does export weapons and military hardware to Israel, valued at $19 million in 2020, $26m in 2021, and $21.3m in 2022.
1
@TG-cs1rm I am familiar with Rememberance Day, thank you. I just find that too much of the "rememberance" is wrapping the conflict in the ahistoircal gauze of "fighting for freedom" and democracy and human rights, all to justify the tens of thousands of dead Canadians.
1
LOL GTFOH. Nobody is paying people to protest a ONGOING GENOCIDE? You should be asking why universities and the Canadian State are so determined to support the status quo of colonial genocide?
1
@verar5844 How are they "agents provocateurs"?
1
How do bikes lanes interfere with people with disabilities?
1
Where TF did you get the idea that women in Palestine are not allowed to speak publicly? Ignorant.
1
@user-lb1ye1pv4q Women protested in Gaza during the Great March of Return in 2018/19 when Israeli forces killed ~230 protestors and injured thousands of others. But what is your point? Sexism exists to some degree in most countries, does that mean we should not vocally oppose an ongoing genocide against those people? Do the children of Gaza deserve to die because of sexism?
1
The Charter of Rights and Freedoms applies to all residents of Canada.
1
That would be great!
1
The student protestors are calling on the universities to divest their endowment funds from Israeli businesses and arms industry which supplies weapons to Israel.
1
Oh no! Are tents terrorism? Please don't go to the provincial parks, you will think they are full of terrorism.
1
Are people in tents automatically terrorists? You should not visit a provincial park, they are full of "terrorists".
1
Are tents terrorists?
1
@Seeds-uu3le What acts of violence or threats of violence did protestors commit?
1
@treblepilgrim967 How many of the 15,000 kids killed by Israel were Hamas?
1
Yes! Let Palestinians return to the homes and villages that have been stolen from them since 1947. That is exactly what they have been demanding for decades.
1
@UzumakiNaruto_ Hmm weird, I keep posting rebuttals with links to actual statistics to counter these unsubstantiated claims about crime in Toronto, but they keep getting censored/deleted. Its almost like racists are salty that their racist claims don't stand up to facts.
