@DoItForTheBuzz The Genocide Convention isn't a fuggin flea market where you can haggle with people's lives.
1
They have no valid response. Many Canadian commentors are just as bloodthirsty and racist as many Israelis who openly call for extermination of Palestinians, but the Canadians have just enough shame to not say the quiet part out loud. So they have to make up ways to delegitimize the protests (Trespassing! Masks!) or deflect attention from Israel ("where are the protests for ________ conflict?"). It is so pathetic and transparent.
1
@malaudisa Also, did you know that bike lanes are also used by commuters, working people and businesses? If anyone is motives by ideology and partisanship it is Doug Ford. Bike lanes are supported by empirical evidence.
1
Police don't keep us safe from anything.
1
Canadians don't "pledge allegiance". That's an American thing.
1
@fluffyblanket1398 What are you talking about ? 1) Streets are narrow downtown in the oldest part of the city where cycling and walking are most viable, and where the public transit is most accessible. If anything we should restrict cars on narrow streets, like making Kensington Market pedestrian-only 2) Our public transit is not perfect but it is one of the best systems in N. America. 3) Toronto has "harsh winters" compared to what? There were maybe two weeks with snow last winter. People bundle up to go skiing and can do the same for cycling.
1
Courts have found that placing substantial costs on protestors is an infringement of our charter rights to free expression and assembly
1
Who is funding protests? Nobody. On the other hand the zionist lobby invests huge amount of time and money to get the support of politicians.
1
There is no reason to allow visitors to drive into or through High Park on the weekend. The park is accessible by two subway stations, two streetcar lines, numerous bus routes, and multiple designated cycling routes. The benefits of a car-free park are enormous, including it is quieter and safer for everyone.
1
The so-called trucker convoy protests were absolutely obnoxious clowns, but the Emergency Act was excessive and heavy handed.
1
LOL that is absurd. Look at coverage of Toronto or Ottawa. It is clear the homophobic/transphobic protestors were outnumbered.
1
@keiichicom7891 Can you provide evidence of a single person (Jewish or otherwise) being blocked by protestors from entering any building at U of T?
1
Wow the president of the police association says staffing is an issue? So glad we can get this objective and evidence-based perspective. /S
1
Exactly! If we abolished the police who would harass cyclists, Black teenagers, and homeless people? Who would ignore warnings from the community of an active serial killer?
1
I bet most of the pRoTeCt ThE cHiLdReN clowns have never even read a Canadian school curriculum and don't even know what specific material they find objectionable.
1
@rob-1873 LOL the latter describes Israel.
1
@LM48888 Garbage on the lawn?! 🗑️ How DARE they ruin our commencement photos. 📸🎓 Someone call the International Court of Justice to prosecute these grass-trampling ne'er do wells! Tell them to set aside that genocide case, there are more IMPORTANT crimes.
1
@Moobeus They are truly delusional.
1
No. Toronto Police Service already admitted that they stopped enforcing traffic laws because they were mad that they couldn't do racist carding anymore. Police solve nothing.
1
@mikedoherty7224 LOL you only see one side engaging in violence and intimidation, but it's NOT Israel, which has killed +30,000 people (including ~14,000 children) destroyed entire cities and displaced 2 million people? GTFOH.
1
Like you needed an excuse. Guess that makes you a fascist.
1
LOL oh Oh no if the police can't extort Torontonians who will harass homeless people and cyclists? Who will blame the victims when the community warns them of an active serial killer? Who will show up three hours after you report a break-in, make sarcastic comments, and write a half hearted report?
1
@gracemarion499 1) We don't directly elect the PM in Canada, so for that plumber or electrician to become PM they would have to win the confidence of their party. 2) I would absolutely rather have a PM who has worked a regular job (beyond a paper route) than some greasy little ladder-crimber like Pollievre or Andrew Scheer. Conservatives have made fun of Trudeau for being a teacher and slowboard instructor but id see that experience as an asset not a hindrance. 3) Winning a party leadership should only be a means to an end, not an signature accomplishment in and of itself. I meant, what has PP accomplished in his 20 years in parliament that has materially benefited Canadians?
1
@nancyjohnson5483 I'm no fan of Trudeau personally or many of his governments polices but he still led his party to a majority, which has since been reduced to two minority govts. He wasn't "handed" the Prime Minister's job. Obviously name recognition helped but he also brought an attitude and ambition that was night and day from Stephen Harper.
1
@nancyjohnson5483 Is your point that he currently has a minoirty govt and needs the support of the NDP?
1
@gracemarion499 He's 44 years old and has been an MP for 20 years! He needs more time to do what? Build his pension?
1
@somebodysomewhere2277 LOL where is crime completely "rampant" in Toronto?
1
@somebodysomewhere2277 I don't know how you define "rampant" but I don't think JaneFinch would qualify. If you actually look at per capita police data, JaneFinch does not stand out as particularly dangerous among Toronto neighbourhoods. There are other areas with more per capita homicides and many areas with more per capita assaults, robberies and autothefts. But the media latch on to incidents in J&F so that's the only neigbourhood known for crime by people who don't live in Toronto.
1
@JustinG-h2k Apartheid South Africa was a staunch ally of Israel, their fellow racist pariah state, mor0n. They developed weapons together.
1
@GGRother wow compelling argument 🙄
1
LOL the convoyards are among the biggest pissbabies in the country. The convoy was stupid and harmful, with no cohesive message, but they just can't accept the consequences for their actions. Like Confederate "Lost Cause" losers they'll be telling their bored grandkids about how they spent $1000 on gas for two weeks in Ottawa and pissed on a church lawn.
1
Wow. There's a lot of people in these comments making excuses for a man who just murdered five people.
1
@OneZuluDelta LOL citation needed. No one has been harassed for being Jewish.
1
Start with Netanyahu for war crimes. The ICC is seeking an arrest warrant.
1
It is so disingenuous and harmful for politicians and the CIJA to conflate protests against violence committed by the state of Israel with threats to all Jews anywhere in the world.
1
WOAH rolling suitcases? On a BUS?! on a Friday afternoon?! MUST BE DANGEROUS REFUGEES. ALERT THE RCMP! ALERT CBSA. GTFHO paranoid weirdo.
1
@unit9754 Rude. I'm a socialist.
1
@tylerfloodgate People who bring up the trucker protests are the whiniest fash piss-babies. It's like they only discovered protest in 2022 and think the treatment of the so-called trucker convoy was the worst thing ever.
1
Israel is an apartheid state committing ethnic cleansing or genocide depending on the day.
1
The U.N. and Britain had no business dividing up Palestine in 1947. The inhabitants of the land (Jews, Christians, Muslims and other) should have been given the opportunity to decide their own fate. ONE STATE SOLUTION.
1
@daniel_kryz What right have they to a "Jewish state"? The UN Partition Plan was an absolute gift to zionists: despite being in a minority of the population (half the Arab pop.) and owning an even smaller percentage of the land, they were to be given 56% of the land. Partition, as approved by the UN, would have amounted to a bureaucratic land grab. A Jewish state requires (as does any theocratic or supremacist state) some combination of enforced racial/religious hierarchy OR the expulsion/eradication of non-privileged populations.

Please save your violent fascist fantasies for your Deviant Art account.

Police do not release the name of suspects under charges have been laid.
1
@timmytwodogs "bolo"? Police might release the name if the suspect is at large, but not if they've already made an arrest. This driver was arrested at the scene.
1
@mhow7024 wow the president of the police association said the police are understaffed. I am SHOCKED /s
1
@deathmauler181 WTAF are you talking about?! The protestors are calling attention to the active genocide being committed by ISRAEL. No one said anything about Hamas.
1
@Method9 It's absurd. People are twisting themselves into pretzel knots to say protestors are the problem, not the actual genocide.
1
We should prioritize the movement of people by the most efficient means possible, which means public transit, walking and cycling. Single-occupant vehicles are lest efficient.
1
Questions for all the little fascist xenophobes: 1) Do you actually support the measures that would be necessary to end homelessness in Canada? Those measures might include but not be limited to: implement a required living wage (minimum wage is NOT a living wage), UBI, rent control, massive government investment in socialized housing, vacant property taxes, abolishing exclusionary-zoning to allow densification in former single family home areas. 2) Do you understand we can end homelessness in Canada AND support refugees, AT THE SAME TIME? It's not "either/or."
