Stop incentivizing corruption and scandal by apologizing for and forgiving it, and start calling for some figurative heads to roll and tougher sentencing for positions of trust and authority (politician, police, judge, etc).

Our ancestors came here during a time long before the wholesale marginalization of labour by capital, and when you could get a cheap piece of land and settle down. Look into developing a piece of empty land in Canada now. It is the domain of the wealthy, to a large extent. This ‘your ancestors were immigrants’ line could be trotted out almost anywhere, yet serious countries don’t care, because they look out for their own now, as opposed to prioritizing lofty and impractical ideals.

No cream’ I wonder global, would you support protests by white nationalists wearing shirts with, say, ‘It’s okay to be white?’ We know you wouldn’t, even despite the latter stating something we all know to be true (since it’s okay to be any colour), and the prior boldly declaring pride in their ethic ‘purity’.   19. I work for a huge secondary industry outfit. My site is in a small sleepy rural town. About half the staff are foreign. There are no housing vacancies. There is a small college town nearby where many if the staff live, and students had to delay schooling because there was nowhere for them to live. We’re importing more labour to staff the Tim Hortons tho…

They just aren’t our problem, and we aren’t theirs. If you want to show everybody how virtuous and compassionate you are, open your home and pantry.

  24. It started before the Liberals. They just cranked it up a notch or two. It began as a Trojan Horse known as the “Temporary” Foreign Worker Program. I worked w a whole lot of those “temporary” workers. Awesome ppl, but not temporary for the vast majority of them, unless returning to the Philippines for retirement counts as temporary.

  26. I simply don’t buy that 82% figure. Even if it is true, how much is a result of politicians and the media misrepresenting the current state of firearms ownership and regulation in this country? I just had to explain to a friend the other day that machine guns are already prohibited, that’s these rifles are limited to 5 round mags, and that AR doesn’t stand for assault rifle. Sure your ban has some support; makes sense considering you lied to the entire country and betrayed their trust... Snakes.

As the OP just outlined, we have been struggling due to its focus on demand side ‘growth’ (and just growth in general), which has been achieved largely by importing anything with a pulse into regional labour markets whilst letting the taxpayer subsidize the associated negative externalities. Look into free market theory. Cost internalization is a key assumption. This isn’t a failure of capitalism. It is a failure of the ppl within it. There is good reason ppl say Canada isn’t a serious country. As a ppl, we had to be seriously asleep at the wheel to let things get this bad. A nation stupid enough to buy the ‘unchecked immigration will save your future’ line is a nation that couldn’t be bothered to take a step back and think about what was being proposed, and it really only takes the simple high school supply and demand model to show it. But what can one expect from a ‘nation’ that hardly blinks when its own PM calls it a post-national entity?
