When I hear people like Bill Gates backing technology that only seems to work at grid scale my first thought is the wealthy are scare of small scale solar removing energy as a commodity they can profit from. I believe the future looks more like off grid solar systems as there is no profit driven middle man between your power generation on your roof and your consumption loads inside the home. Why pay Bill Gates to collect solar power, store it and ship it to your home when you can do the same thing within your home?

  6.  @Jk-dg6cd  one car driving between many people means more miles driven and more energy consumed. The vehicle sitting in a parking lot consumes zero energy getting to the correct location to start the next trip

  8. True but longer life is one of the reasons for a solid state battery the solid electrolight will stop dendrites from crossing the cell extending the life of the cell.

  10.  @chrisheath2637  sad when you have to depend on rich people feeling to pay your employees. Because stock markets are just that a graph of rich peoples feelings. Those few lucky millionaire could quickly become poor people if line on graph goes down.

Also why be proud that employees who did what they where told by their employer got the cold shoulder instead of retained into jobs that the company needs filled for their new product types. If ford lacks the vision to take care of their employees when their focus changes I still wouldn't want to buy from them. I would buy from a company that takes care of their employees first.

  12. As an American I am pretty sure our postal service will need a Tesla semi to do letter delivery. Just to fit the ego of the driver.... /s. Really thought I love it and wish we had small cheap EV like this in the USA.

  14.  @MDC_1985  oh you mean the chargers that Tesla hasn't actually built. The current 400 volt chargers that make up the Tesla network are what all tesla owners use today
