Demand for EV isn't the problem there is more demand than manufacturing capacity at any price point
1
Prices are set at what the market will bare in a capitalist society.
1
Westinghouse made something like this in the 90s and sold them on the market for electic lawnmowers. Boston battery made something similar in the Obama administration and when the company went out of business the Republicans had a field day when they went out of business.
1
Which just means greed is more important than their reputation. Tesla knew how many batteries the CT would need when they took the pre orders
1
Probably the crystal is grown from the solar industry experience.
1
To manufacture but you have to pay the profit margins to maximize profits.
1
The entire stock market is a con game to make money for the wealthy elite
1
@patrickryan7829 if you think you can store the CO2 you release burning ff for energy generation you failed to understand the law of conversation of energy. It will take far more energy to capture that CO2 and store it than it generates powering your car in an ICE that is about 30% efficient the 70% being waste heat energy.
1
@billcichoke2534 wow deregulation of nuclear power talk about bad ideas. It must be a industry talking point too because this is not the first time I have heard someone say we need deregulation for nuclear power in the last few days. Talk about bad idea.
1
@Barskor1 any non existent technology is amazing.
1
@Barskor1 good luck making it into a profitable business
1
@davidhumeston5292 I will answer after you accept that corporations control the price of the goods they sell and that the increase in those prices is the definition of inflation. So corporations control when there is an inflation.
1
@davidhumeston5292 your inability to understand what capitalism is makes a discussion of if I support capitalism communism or socialism pointless because I am sure you and I won't agree on what those terms mean at the moment
1
@billy-go9kx oh yes because we should take the nuclear industry at their word with the lack of regulations needed on their new technology. Not like they told us the current technology was perfectly safe with no waste issues when it was new too... they lost the free market price competition. All nuclear power is too expensive the cheaper form of new energy is renewable plus storage and storage is getting cheaper without having to short cut regulations.
1
@davidhumeston5292 so you don't think GM controls the price of their goods because the bought advertising to convince you to spend money equal to the price they set for the product? That is a very odd line of twisted logic. I can see you never working in a marketing department or a sales department.
1
@jimbodee4043 they do expand and smoke doing permanent damage to the cell if they get too hot. So if you want an actual rechargeable battery you need to have thermal management or so large a battery that you keep the discharge down to about 0.2c. Spoiler alert no one wants a 5 hour fastest change rate so there is a need for thermal management
1
They are trying to convince the world that the ICE isn't dead before 2030 because they are transitioning too slow and know it.
1
Never because the theft is done in a way that profits the share holders. That is the evil of using stock as a benefits package along with the tax avoidance it aligns the management team with the leaches called share holders. Which really are a way to extract wealth out of the working class.
1
Lol like the grid isn't already charging multiple EV at the same time at a charging station.
1
The large battery packs should have a decent towing range. I would love to see the side by side comparison of each of these trucks hauling the same trailer as an ICE truck. This was done between the Rivian and a Toyota and the Rivian battery pack had the same range as 10 gallons of gas in the Toyota. That is a comparison people can understand and relate to how they use a truck today.
1
I don't get their 3 mile trip point at all. The driving miles per day would be more relevant unless they expect you to plug in at the end of each 3 mile trip. I believe the avg American drivers 15,000 miles per year atleast that was the pre pandemic avg.
1
By 2028 they should be working on sodium supply lines not lithium
1
@Skylancer727 it eats into the range of an ICE as well. Having a Duramax I can assure you my mileage drops when I pull a trailer
1
Tax that massive payment Musk got to pay for this
1
The difference is a car will always just move the driver and passengers from one place to another. The last half century has proven that is a task with a finite energy demand. We don't keep building bigger gas tanks on ICE cars. We won't keep building bigger batteries on EV they have the same purpose
1
You sould be more worried about where they come from for Microsoft's new AI data center. Or all the other data centers. Hint Microsoft needs to re start 3 mile island for one data center they want to build.
1
Have you ever seen an EV charging station charge 4 vehicles at the same time? If so you have seen it provide the power needed to charge a single EV in 5 minutes for 20 minutes straight.
1
@squishedfrog99-gp4qq lol you assume the current grid is maxed out. At the charger. What happens when too many people show up at the gas station today??? Oh right we build more capacity or people wait in line and learn to fuel when there is less demand.
1
Ford made a new division to sell factory direct
1
If the grid goes down long enough for your vehicle battery to go flat you have much bigger problems. You are literally talking over a week long power outage. My grid isn't good but 12 hours is about the record I have seen it down in over a decade.
1
I thought they had all the experience of selling millions of units in China
1
@rodrigomohr1277 lol sure the manufacturers build factories in the usa because they wanted to pay more in costs. You must be a CEO
1
Because he is an olagarch who doesn't see his employees as people who deserve a living wage. Is that what you ment? Or that he wants to protect his 30% profiteering margin off his labor force.
1
If you don't go deep enough the wells will cool the rock around them in about 50 years and become useless. Nate Hagens has recently done a couple of podcasts on this topic.
1
I would like to think you are correct about 100% by 2030. My doubt comes from the new cold war with China. It will take imports from china to get above about 75% by 2030 is my guess.
1
@MrkBO8 spoken like a member of the wealthy class who doesn't understand most people live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford the inflation over the last decade.
1
Yes and if Biden didn't put a 100% tariff on imported EV they would cost half as much in the USA.
1
The only ones pushing nuclear power today are oligarchs who want to keep power as a commodity they control.
1
@longmuskox4194 🤣🤣🤣 it is his video title that agrees with my comment not your criticism of it. But that was definitely funny
1
@scottbrown7415 we have heard this for years feom the ff trolls yet the EV manufacturing capacity has continued to grow so it is now 20% of the worlds largest automotive market in China and 20% on Europe. But I am sure non of those manufacturers have your insight into their supply chains...
1
@scottbrown7415 wow you really do like to follow all the ff industry talking points. You probably don't realize the ff Industry uses the most cobalt to do their drilling so it is also their supply chain you are upset about. They probably didn't mention that in the propaganda you follow.
1
Sounds like history is repeating itself. If maybe a decade ahead of the last century run.
1
The CT doesn't have paint. And GM isn't trying to sell their truck cheap they are telling customers it will be $100,000 or so for the first production runs.
1
@tonystanley5337 no the suggestion is the base models won't be profitable not the top end ones.
1
@markzebr6463 that must be why the usa has the world's largest prison population per capita. We literally put more people behind bars than any other civilization on earth. But don't let facts get in the way of alternative right wing propagandist.
1
@JanBruunAndersen wow what a stupid strawman argument. Taxing profiteering is not a planned economy. You really suck at the strawman game
1
Tesla makes 29.2% profit margin. Why do you think GM isn't able to figure out how to make money on EV when Tesla makes so much?
1
@pwells10 sorry you lost me when you attacked the company for having a well paid work force. I believe companies should provide a quality living for their employees not collect wealth for the caplistist class. Clearly you and I have a different world view if you believe being providing for the working class who provide all the wealth to the company is a burden. Have a nice day I won't be wasting anymore time on someone who sees the working class as a burden.
1
Saturn everything old is new again.
1
In New Hampshire it will be a motorcycle the law is very clear here you must have a motorcycle license to drive anything with less than 2 wheels which requires you pass a separate road test I would guess that 3 wheeler wouldn't make it through the cone turn test.
