Tesla has a 30% profit margin there is no need to raise the price with a increase in raw materials cost
1
If tesla doesn't want to have people flipping their Tesla cars in under a year to make a profit just limit the sales to 1 EV per year per customer until the demand is met for all new sales in the year.
1
So tesla took orders on vehicles they can't manufacture. I don't take downpayment for services I can't perform. This is the problem with the pre order model. It is a intrest free loan at the cost of your customers satisfaction.
1
The other place this will pay off is high power hand tools like a chain saw or other hand tools that currently depend on gas for energy density.
1
You need to find a new method of buying because your dealer markup on that EV is insane.. it is nearly an order of magnitude over the OEM price of many EVs
1
@jebes909090 unless the manufacturer of the batteries is forced by contract to sacrifice their 400% increase in profits first.
1
It reminds me of Ford Pinto fires. It took a class action case and federal regulations to get Ford to stop killing their customers. This is how capitalism kills for greed.
1
@eddiegill not more expensive than drilling a water well if you go with a vertical system
1
Tesla has a 30% profit margin. So sure the 25% tariff is an issue but lt is less than the profit margin today.
1
Not like ford has a history of allowing cars to blow up in flames instead of moving a few bump bolts.... can anyone say pinto...
1
Most lemon laws require you let the manufacturer try to fix it 3 times. The problem was that they lacked the manpower to repair it in a timely manner.
1
Don't worry if Rivian makes it through production hell and ramps up mass production Ford will be justified for blaming them for their losses in the future
1
@spencerpieters5502 how does thousands of dollars change people's lives who can't afford a $400 emergency? You didn't honestly ask that question did you?
1
Swapping parts mid model run makes for a mantaince nightmare. I know I own a Chevy duramax that is a split model year.
1
@LightWingStudios sure if you want to pay top dollar for manufacturers replacement parts. There are plenty of examples where someone has been told it will cost orders of magnitude more to have Tesla fix their batteries only to find out they needed a single leaking brass fitting.
1
Many people have said they won't give a penny to Elon now that he is into buying our politicians in public. They either don't agree with his political views or they simply don't believe in oligarchs.
1
@jimjam36695 lol Elon has transferred Wealth out of Tesla into his personal fortune to become the wealthiest person on planet earth.
1
@jimjam36695 glad to see you support greed by your favorite billionaire. But if feeding 9 kids requires wealth at the levels he is extracting from Tesla the working class is screwed.
1
Yup the government has made it clear with a 100% tax that they want us to pay 2x what they pay elsewhere
1
WV shouldn't remind people of their software history...
1
@scottmcshannon6821 you think all the existing wells will be pumped dry in 5 years? I think we can cut demand fast enough to not need new wells if we choose.
1
@scottmcshannon6821 it won't take decades just as it didn't take decades to replace land lines with cell phones
1
@scottmcshannon6821 we lived for the vast majority of history without plastics and ff.
1
The benefits the manufacturers are moving to these states for is poor labor laws and poor environmental regulations which means the workers don't get the quality of life these manufacturing companies would have to provide elsewhere in north America. Don't celebrate the leadership that won the race to the bottom for the working class.
1
So even with 100% tariffs Biden didn’t save jobs. All he did was double the prices for Americans buying citizens.
1
@dansanger5340 so do a state safety inspection on all vehicles once a year and make them pay the tax based on actual miles driven and the weight of the vehicle. Spoiler alert the trucking industry will never agree as they don't pay equity to the damage and higher demands for road construction to support a 80,000 lbs load.
1
The federal reserve has printed money at unprecedented rates for 20 years. Inflation is caused by corporations raising prices not the the federal reserve. ExxonMobil choose to raise the price of their fuel which is not in any way involved in the conflict in Ukraine. ExxonMobil did this because they can make more profit. Corporate greed is what drives inflation.
1
@richarddixon6352 was there a point to your comment? Because for 2 decades we have increased the money supply without inflation. The last year inflation wasn't caused by 2 decades of growing the money supply it was caused by greed and profiteering off the pandemic.
1
@icosthop9998 you can waste your money if it makes you feel good. It is your right to make poor financial decisions don't let me stop you
1
@richarddixon6352 inflation for the last 2 decades has been right around 2% in the USA. That is considered a healthy target growth for the economy. You need to look at the numbers and stop blaming the government for the actions of the barrons of industry. It is class warfare and the caplistist class is winning because people like you don't understand that it is the Management team that sets the price of goods in a caplistist economy
1
@richarddixon6352 lol you clearly didn't look up the money created in the last two decades because the dollar value doesn't support your argument. It is about 20 trillion since 2008 with 2% inflation which is a healthy economy. You clearly failed caplistist economics 101 if you don't believe the corporations set the cost of the goods they sell. How you fail to understand that it is the corporations that raise the prices and drive inflation is beyond me. It is the very basic principle of a free market economy that businesses set the prices
1
@richarddixon6352 if the global monetary supply had experiential growth in the last 2 years and we only have 7% inflation that is amazing because you are saying we have over 200% increase in the money supply and 7% increase on prices. Clearly the two are not linked by your own terms
1
@richarddixon6352 what is with your strawman argument about the price of a widget I would sell? You act like greed is mandatory.
1
@richarddixon6352 I didn't put words in your mouth you just used terms you didn't understand apparently
1
@richarddixon6352 I didn't say anything about what corporations should do. I said the act of raising prices by corporations is what causes inflation. You simply assumed that was somehow a moral imperative on my part I guess.
1
@richarddixon6352 wow didn't take long for you to go full crazy calling me a communist. But I see you subscribe to the greed equals caplistist theory. Have a nice day I am done wasting time on someone who refuses to listen. You clearly know that corporations raising prices causes inflation you just happen to lack the ability to understand that it is a choice by the corporations.
1
Sam thinks paying 2x what the rest of the world pays for the same EV is a good value for Americans. 😂 the tariff war will only be good for the government or Elon Musk who gets to charge 2x as much in the usa as he can in china.
1
This will run up again monopoly laws. The manufacturer can't force you into a monopoly on fueling your vehicle.
1
This has more to do with the wealth of the people who are Republican vs Democratic. Getting into lower price points has made it more acceptable to Republican.
1
@darrenhanson7696 🤣 funny you put pride over quality. Wanting to buy from a company with more experience building the product and who uses the best battery technology that doesn't catch fire is what I was thinking. But sure question my status as an American because I haven't been brainwashed to think I need to support the same caplistist class which outsourced our jobs
1
Not really a problem for the grid or the charger if people realize they can stop every 100 to 150 miles to recharge on a trip for 5 minutes. You get a lighter EV with less energy demand per mile than the current 300mile plus EV which means you are putting in less than 1/3 the power we put into a tesla today.
1
Those pushing Nuclear-Power are trying to keep energy as a commodity to transfer wealth upwards to the owner class. Roof top solar plus storage will keep your wealth at the individual level not the billionaires in the energy sector which is why they fight it.
1
It always is expensive. Saying it doesn't have to be is devoured from reality
1
@excelrobot but that is the point the market is too big for the CT to take a sizable chunk with the single factory making them.
1
@excelrobot I just googled it for you in 2020 there where 11 million light trucks sold in the USA alone. The CT like all other Tesla products will be exported but even if it wasn't that factory can maybe make 5% of that market. But your 20,000 guess won't even be noticed by ford or GM who are ramping up their own EV trucks
1
@excelrobot we will see I personally don't care who makes the EV so long as the ICE era ends. But your missing the point that it will take more than one factor to replace the current 11 million light trucks sold in the USA
1
So having a giant methane flamethrower company makes you confident he is a battery expert??? That is some twisted logic from the cult of personality
1
@niceguyrides you mean a task that NASA achieved over 60 years ago. How impressive. If only it where 1967 I might be impressed. But when someone claims to care about the climate crisis then starts a company to burn methane at insane rates of speed I am not impressed. His side venture in selling small flame throwers a few years back makes it worthy of pointing out that SpaceX is just a giant size flamethrower company.
1
Those gas stations will go away far faster than the percentage of EV vs ICE. New vehicle owners drive far more miles than used vehicle owners. So when 25% of the fleet is EV half the gas sales will be gone.
1
@nilsfrederking62 there is a company working on that very thing in France. I forgot the name of the company.
