@1995nicat I've answered it multiple times already in this thread. Here is the short version: the spikes are 3831 base pairs out of the total of 29,906 base pairs. If you program your immune system only for that 3831 pair sequence it's like searching the web for exactly the right search words. After infection, your T-Cells might be looking for a sequence 6835 base pairs long, or 4946 pairs long, or 7482 base pairs long. The shorter the sequence the more effective the response, so the 3831 pair sequence in the mRNA vaccine is highly optimized. Your B-Cells create a HUGE variety of antibodies based on the tagged sequence provided. If you provide a long sequence, more of the sequence needs to match for the resulting antibodies to work. Infection provides longer than necessary sequences. If you provide sequences too short, you have the danger of creating autoimmune disease. Source: Education in Virology. Molecular Virology 101. Please take a university course in molecular virology.

Your knowledge isn't deep enough to be making comments. Reinfection happens at a TINY rate in comparison to primary infection. All people need to do is get vaccinated and wear masks and this would be over in a couple weeks but no...... instead dolts shout freedumb and spread the virus.
3
@expletivedeleted Grow up.
3
@daverok1113 You should stick to commentary on subjects you are educated in, like dog grooming.

Baking bread is one of the best smells in the world.

Thank you for trying to spread actual knowledge to counter the dubious data being presented here. It's not overlords, it's you not figuring out that you cannot post URLs in root posts. Period. Depending on the channel and your account status you may be able to post URLs in REPLIES to posts, but not in root posts themselves. The same restriction applies to a great many "bad" words.
3
@OceanFrontVilla3 Lisa is correct. There are 31 variants being tracked so far and if people don't get vaccinated and stop this, it will go on forever like the flu. People who are not getting vaccinated are CURSING everybody with their self-centered ignorance.
3
@fuquaysteve271 Stop being so ignorant, if you're able.

Very well said Mepper. Spot on.

Credentialed Virologists roll their eyes at this place because non-Virologist Nurse Educator Campbell is playing Virologist and he gets it incorrect far too often. He's out of his lane and sadly people think he understands the things he parrots off the Internet. By 2 minutes into this video he's already misframed things and by 5 minutes he's said Delta is basically gone but the latest GISAID dataset via the NextStrain Clade Frequency chart shows 21% of sequence submissions from North America were Delta. The most reputable data in the world contradicts campbell. That should be a huge red flag warning sign to you. Is it?
2
You have to wonder if 1,000,000 is smaller than 1?
2
I am sorry for your loss.
2
@Gpeps22 I should have stated he's not a medical doctor and has no training as a medical doctor, virologist, or immunologist. Of course he is a Doctor of PHilosophy of Nurse Education, a position of respect I would never deny. Having a PhD in an unrelated field is not the same as being an expert in a field. Nursing and virology are effectively unrelated. Physicists don't claim to be chemists or vice versa.
2
Why is Dr. John Campbell spreading misinformation? Pfizer ALREADY HAS a vaccine specific to the Delta variant. ALREADY. They have decided based on efficacy of the original vaccine against DISEASE (not infection; they are very different things) there is no need to roll out a Delta vaccine version. It takes roughly 30 days to create a new vaccines based on a DNA sequence.
2
@DramaMustRemainOnTheStage Hilarious you crumble to an ad hominem attack instead of addressing the facts I just out pointed out about how Campbell misleads. Is it fun in a cult?
2
@Muckylittleme Do you think fire extinguishers protect against fires? Vaccines work the same way and you have it wrong. Fire extinguishers help you stop the fire from getting out of control. Vaccines help you stop the infection from getting out of control.
2
@ms-jl6dl If you want to research the health benefits that fungi can bring, I would highly recommend anything by Dr. Paul Stamets whether it be books, interviews, or mushrooms themselves. The world of mycology is relatively unknown and extremely vast.

The gamma variant PROVED that mRNA vaccine induced immunity was stronger against variants than natural immunity. This is a simple fact.

@ianrobertson2282 Epsilon = Variant: 21C also known as 20C/S:452R - first identified in California Eta = Variant: 21D also known as 20A/S:484K and B.1.525 - appears to have arisen in late 2020, detected in North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. Iota = Variant: 21F also known as 20C/S:484K and B.1.526 - largely found within the USA, particularly in New York state, and seems to have arisen in late 2020. Kappa = Variant: 21B also known as 21A/S:154K and B.1.617 - First detected in late 2020 in India They've been outbred by Delta.

@creativeduo6313 Search for the podcast "This Week in Virology" and watch a few hundred hours like I have. Do you listen to virologists, immunologists, and epidemiologists for your information or do you listen to media talking heads who know nothing? I've been startled by how off Campbell has been in some cases and he's not a virologist, immunologist, or epidemiologist. Remember, he's a nurse, not a specialist on viral disease.

Lambda contains the same mutation that makes Delta more virulent, but it also has three trimer protein mutations that provide immune escape meaning that immunity from vaccines or being sick doesn't apply fully. It's also called C.37 in the Pangolin lineage or the Peru variant after being originally sighted in Peru and Chile in December 2020. WHO currently lists it as a VOI or Variant Of Interest. The ones to worry about at any time are the variants classified as VOC ro Variant Of Concern. If you want real data from virologists and immunologists, look up the podcast TWiV, This Week in Virology and watch it.
2
Yes, but the vaccinated ones are not the ones ending up in coffins. Vaccines protect against disease, not infection. Any protection from infection is icing on the cake.
2
The limiting factor in the United States is now becoming the anti-vax attitude of conservatives. Roughly 30% of the population has decided to equate vaccines with witchcraft and say they will not take the vaccine. This same demographic has already experienced rampant spread of the virus and infection so the silver lining there is perhaps that conservatives will achieve enough immune responses thanks to infection. Fingers crossed for the best possible antibody resistance to variants.

@RabJ208 You seem to be in competition for a Darwin Award. Best wishes!

@annaredding Covid doesn't care if you are offended. This channel spreads a great deal of misinformation by giving incomplete and misframed digests of papers. It's a step up from random persons reading things they found on the Internet, but it's not a competent professional source of virology. I've watched this channel and associated comments by viewers misframe and botch too much analysis too many times. I'm just glad this pandemic is benign compared to what it could be. We're in a lot of trouble when the next difficult one hits because people are happy to be sloppy about knowledge and we'll all pay the price eventually.

@1995nicat You'll find academic sources for most anything I say through TWiV or PubMed. Here is how the coding works. Your CD4 T-Cells and B-Cells get programmed by the invading pathogen. The spike occupies 3831 base pairs out of covid's 29,903 base pairs. When your immune system is programmed by the virus it doesn't get just those 3831 pairs, it may be programmed for 4582 base pairs, or 6502 base pairs, or 9593 base pairs of that variant so the programming is more specific and less general. It's like searching the web for the words "target spike protein" instead of the phrase "target spike protein plus some random pieces of nucleocapsid, membrane, and envelope proteins". On top of being targeted to an optimised search term for the virus, vaccines produce larger immune response overall based on antibody levels, and the antibodies are lasting a bit longer.

@AlienPsyTing1 Source for what? There are 326 messages in this thread. If you want to learn real virology, Professor Vincent Racaniello of Columbia University is giving away his Columbia virology course as lectures on his channel. Watch his regular show, This Week in Virology, TWiV. You can look it up under that name or Microbe TV.
2
@brettmciver432 When you provide a coky snippet in a thread with 336 messages you've accomplished nothing other than to show you lack an eye for context. 30 years ago I was consulting for Genentech and 25 years ago I was designing and building the electronics in PCR machines. What's your expertise?
2
@evansaw293 The vaccine does not contain the mutations. It's the B-Cells in your immune system which take a master copy of the RNA from the virus or vaccine, and turn that into an outrageously huge variety of antibodies built off the master RNA chunk. The vaccines use a small chunk of RNA without extra information so there isn't any extra variant specific "baggage" to tie the antibodies down. When you get the virus, your antibodies will be built from a larger chunk of RNA made from the spike plus extra variant specific information from the envelope, membrane, and nucleocapsid proteins so the resulting antibodies are more specific from the beginning.
2
@herasmarket NO! Vaccines do not spread covid. Fake News.
2
@Debate TV Wow, you're a fresh troll.
2
Good luck on your Herman Cain Award. If you don't die right away, you can look forward to heart damage, lung damage, brain damage, diabetes, and impotence. The only question is how many years the infection will take off your life and how much of each of those damage types you'll endure?
2
@headfullofacid8088 The Cult of Dusty has a great series of segments about people like you called, "Meet the Victims". I know a plague rat who came within an hour of orphaning her daughter because she's so gullible she believed the misinformation and disinformation. Your "rights" fallacy is completely useless. You don't have the right to hurt others or kill others. Vaccine mandates PREDATE AMERICA existing. General Washington vaccinated his troops against smallpox otherwise America might not exist right now.
2
You should try listening to actual virologists and immunologists if you want learn about virology or immunology. Campbell is not a medical doctor, not a virologist, and not an immunologist. He gets things as loopy as the government advisors do, he just gives you different loops so you feel good. It's the blind leading the blind, really. Try listening to actual experts if you wish to be informed.
2
Wrong. Vaccination saves lives.
2
BAD INFORMATION. It's too bad he did not show the infection map of the students. 5 students per row; 5 rows. 1st row entirely infected. 2nd row, 4 out of 5 tested and 3 of the 4 infected. 3rd row, 1 of 5 infected. 4th row, 4 out of 5 tested and 1 of the 4 infected. Row 5, 2 of 4 infected.

@RabJ208 LYING TROLL

Vaccines prevent DISEASE, not infection. The problem is that you don't anything about immunology.

I used double layer cotton before, now switching to N95 to deal with the deniers.
2
@samoak123 99.99% of deaths are now in unvaccinated people and unvaccinated people are the ones spreading the virus we ALREADY HAVE PROTECTION FOR and allowing it to mutate into something we DON'T have protection for. Darwin was right.

@milenalm5288 99.99% of US deaths are now in unvaccinated people and unvaccinated people are the ones spreading the virus we ALREADY HAVE PROTECTION FOR and allowing it to mutate into something we DON'T have protection for. Darwin was right.

The gamma variant PROVED that mRNA vaccine induced immunity was stronger against variants than natural immunity. This is a simple fact. Other research shows the same thing; namely that the B-Cells produced by mRMA vaccination code antibodies for a wider variety of potential mutations. I cannot believe how incorrect JC gets this. Sad.

180,175 children have tested positive in the last WEEK in the US.

LIE LIE LIE!!!!! Border towns have LOWER infection rates. You're either a political troll spreading lies, or you're not smart enough to think for yourself so you let other people think for you. Which is it?

@fondrees You are a fraud.

@joyfisher8008 Don't let facts get in your way of cult behaviour. I gave facs and the sources so you can check yourself. If you don't check yourself, than you fail. Have you ever been to NextStrain, GISAID, or CoVariants?
