  1.  @AngelOfDæth_4  I'm not sure where things shifted. That "gameplay" was all staged, and I was worried about that. They system the showcased was so much better too. You notice the stats on weapons and armor in that "demo"? Notice how they're almost completely different from what we have in the game? Notice how there's not level requirements either? That was a better system than what they quickly hacked together during a crunch period.

  2.  @AngelOfDæth_4  That demo from 2018 is damning! How can you show us something that much better than anything you turned out, why even bother? When did they START working on this thing compared to the time they announced it? How about having an idea first, then having a basic foundation and THEN announcing something? It wasn't like they were in dire straights after the success of Witcher 3. They didn't have to trick anyone, and now they have lawsuits pending, from their own investors. People at the top of CDPR need to be FIRED!

  3.  @AngelOfDæth_4  The reason they started having to give release dates was their investors, who aren't gonna wait around for "when it's done", they expect a return, and a return on time. Furthermore, the heads at CDPR really REALLY wanted to capitalize on Christmas sales. That's where things went wrong. CDPR didn't have anything when they first revealed CP'77 with that first trailer, and for some reason they didn't have hardly anything leading up to that 2018 trailer, which begged the question of what exactly it was they were working on this whole time. People have been hyped for this game for like seven years, but this thing was cobbled together in what? Two or three? What happened to all of that time?

No seriously, there's nothing they can make like this that a user or group of users can't figure out hos to utterly abuse and and turn it on them and ruin their potential profits by forcing players out from the exploits.

  7. Thank you for putting this in perspective. People forget that just because someone drops 70+ billions dollars at one, doesn't make them the biggest gun in town. Sony owns so much stuff, spread out over such a broad space of goods that it simply has more, even if it can't spend more. They're not going anywhere. Not to mention, there's still smaller companies all over the place produce very popular titles. There's a lot of moves yet to be played here and it'll be interesting to see what happens.

  8.  @anteshell  Projected earnings are where it counts and they've been continuously under-delivering to their investors. That's not even a mystery, that's been public knowledge for a while now and why several with stock in Twitter had been eager to get Elon to close the deal. They could finally cash out. Elon was buying Twitter at like four or five times its share value with this deal. Where have you been?

  9.  @anteshell  Also you were wrong from the start. It's only about 2.25billion annually at best, with a net income of just over 500million, it's stock has also tanked by nearly -30%. So if that all sounds "profitable" to you, I recommend you never give anyone any financial advise.

This isn't about censorship or rewriting history by destroying evidence of that history (see Cancel Culture and Revisionist History), rather this is a destructive means of creating scarcity to potentially increase value... I'm not sure which is worse, both are incredibly bad.

Not some asshole that doesn't wanna pay full price for a product. Don't throw everyone under the same category there.

  14.  @krookedvulture  I'm not sure what 'credit' it gives them. Their only concern is how much money they can squeeze out of it which is why they combat piracy because they feel it hurts their bottom line or has the potential to. It never really has, but they don't like the idea of not having something under their complete control, even after it's been paid for and handed over. Imagine if a car manufacturer could just come to your house and declare the vehicle you bought and own is now something you can't have because they decided to stop supporting it. It's odd this is the one type of product we make an exception for as far as what our rights of ownership are. That's why CAPCOM was getting away with stashing their DLC on the physical discs you bought for their games and why people were (reasonably) made about it.

  15.  @krookedvulture  Lots of games I don't like get pirated because I don't know if I like them until I play the game FIRST. Steam has an awful policy of not refunding you after only two hours of gameplay and it's often regarded as the more generous of the platforms in regards to refunds. With that kind of narrow window, it's a lot better to pirate the game, play it, see if you like it and if you want to support the publisher by making a purchase. That's something a LOT of people pirate games do. They support people that earn their support. Then there's the matter of not having any other option to obtain the game by any other means besides pirating. In that case, you might also get a bad game you don't like, but then it's just a matter of removing it. You suffer no loss for trying something out. That's not at all a "rare breed" you see those people everywhere. They're called "consumers". You find them among movie fans, music fans, comic and literature fans and yes you also find them as gamers.

  19. If it's about Elon, he's nothing BUT speculation for the most part, It's kind of an odd thing with him. His other coverage can be pretty good, but yeah, this is where we are right now. He was concerned about the variety he offered and if it was sustainable, so hopefully he's just trying stuff out.

  20. I kinda feel the same way every time I see Elon in a thumbnail of his. He's got really great coverage on numerous things, but this Elon saga feels like some personal project of his and it always ends in more speculative conclusions. I love that he has passion and wants to try a variety of things, but at a certain point this feels like something very personal.

  21. Though there is an argument to be had for what you're really willing to invest in that and what you get back in return. These games are $70+ now, there definitely needs to be some standards for that kind of price tag, especially when you consider how much has "advanced" in game development to reduce the costs of actually making and distributing games.

They don't care about fans, the property, or anyone's bruised ego, they care about selling a product and making profits. The very thing that got us the original Justice League cut. It's the same thing only now fans get to be tricked into thinking they did something. You think AT&T didn't want to get paid? You think that monopoly factory cares about fan opinion or just separating then from their dollars? No lessons were learned from this, except maybe the next cheap trick to sell bad movies to people that think they're "winning" something.

Long-story short, butthurt journalist whines about new rules in place after GamerGate that resulted in them having to include information in their output that specifically protects the interests of those that consume it. No matter how you try to spin it, it's a really crappy attitude from someone that gets paid to deliver credible information to their audience, who should have this background information that may impact your opinion/stance/take on any given topic you choose to write about. You have a responsibility to not put something out there that's potentially harmful without full disclosure. Leaving out context and not telling the full story is just as bad as outright lying, and having this sort of perspective on the industry will only sink it faster, and impose more regulatory practices when your dishonesty is brought to light.

A middle-market game that stands out for it's honesty and ambition with a tiny team of devs working on it, in a sea of mainstream industry sludge that's just a scam to try and get as much money out of you as possible.   34. @CHOAM Nomsky I agree. That's part of why I 'm not convinced this will be a great game. The core game is mediocre, and I don't even find the main plot that interesting. You don't patch that.

  35. So making this long movie longer actually helped? I mean with the Lord of the Rings, it was a good movie first, and the longer cuts were more of an already good thing, so how did this improve a bad movie? Also, I mean... this isn't a victory of the fans over WB, because WB is still making money on this, they're not learning anything, it's a marketing move. They can see where the money is and are going for it, so I don't really see this as a cultural victory. Don't mistake "got paid" for "gave in".

  36.  @GoinGreninja  Exactly, which is what they were doing when they made the bad ones to begin with, riding it right into the ground. Once the returns were bad enough, they had to pivot, but it wasn't for the "right reasons", it was because they want to stay in business.

They only business, there is no cultural victory to be had. If this sets a trend, it's only going to be because people see dollar signs. Then we'll get cheap move "redemptions" instead of remakes and remasters, and pretty soon, we'll be right back where we started. If you want them to really learn, let them sink for good.

  41.  @codyj6505  Same, even my moderate expectations for a modern open-world RPG experience were left disappointed. This game lacks any fleshed out systems or immersive features in its world, and considering my expectations were set by games made decades ago, it shouldn't have been a daunting task to at least meet those. I mean, we can sit on benches, stools, chairs, and at booths in Fallout: New Vegas. We can gamble in casinos, even watch a show (though it's a quest event). And that game included a crafting system that wasn't RNG dependent and an economy that didn't feel completely unbalanced. It's was released in 2010 with those features.

Twitter's shadow banning, their bot infestation, how they've lied to investors and other institutions that have questioned them about their conduct, gross manipulation of public opinion, feeding into social discourse, it's all out now. Their investors are fixing to lose big on this deal collapsing and their advertising partners are gonna have some questions for them that aren't going to have good excuses now.

Then there's how much you have to pay the mods, admins and the board of directors, then there's the projected earnings for the share holders and investors, the user engagement for the advertisers. Then we take into account their continued under-performance each new quarter and -30% drop in their stock value, for a platform that draws in less than 3Billion dollars annually. I know that seems like a lot of money to the average person, but it's abysmal with regards to what Twitter is. It's why a majority of its share holders were eager to have Elon buy is at several times its value. They want to cash out with an actual profit, not just breaking even or worse (and it's looking more likely) at a loss.

  49.  @ranchdressin-d3b  That's gonna be a lot harder considering just how much the stock value has tanked and how many questions their advertising partners are bound to have in light of the bot fiasco. This is a major blow and it's likely Twitter won't recover. Sure, it might survive, but it'll be nothing and get overshadowed by the next guy that comes along. It's was a decisive attack.
