The other person I won't name as she was a fellow professional in the field but not a personal friend. She was not well in the week, worked till Thursday, admitted to hospital Friday, died Saturday. In her 40s. 125,000 people dead in the UK a small chance I might know someone. I have relatives who work at the MRI in Manchester and a friend who works on reception. You don't want this thing trust me. I get my vaccine Monday, with moderate asthma in my 50s it cant come soon enough.

  7.  @Catkins101  If you have terminal cancer and a weakened immune system and heart/respiratory system as a result then get COVID and die, it is difficult to assign a cause of death. However this is a science in itself and is important for families and can be crucial in an investigation BUT it is never 100%. Sometimes it's a best guess and sometimes it is not known. The statistical analysis methods they use are based on averages month by month year by year.

  8.  @Catkins101  That's terrible, I am sorry about that. People are struggling with mental health issues and it is particularly tragic when a younger person passes. At least Phil had his life. We are on the same page, this thing is a nightmare and we all have opinions on it. I still hang my hat on the Science and the vaccine as the Scientific method is something I know works.

They will not know what the actual death toll is till this thing is under control. Spanish flu killed between 25-50 million people depending on which source you read. That's a big range! A factor of 2! Why so inaccurate? Two main reasons, how did they know one particular death was Flu and not something else as per our other discussion. 1918 technology was basic in the first second, Third world technology nonexistent, that includes counting bodies and amassing the data. This time around they will use the most sophisticated technology in the west to count the bodies but in places like India and Africa it will not be as easy. The vaccine companies are working best strategy to get Vaccines to places like Pakistan but they are already months behind. Europe will hopefully not pay for delayed the AZ distribution. 48 hours will make a difference. Anyway mate take care, takes measures and bear in mind we have this thing almost beat. Hopefully we can stop it before it's evolution outruns the Scientists.

I'm an atheist so we have lively discussion but one thing we do agree on, trying to terrorise a people is wrong. They are Asian they are not terrorist, they are (semi) Muslim not terrorist. Read the published literature on the effects the mutations are having on vaccine efficacy. Since the Vaccine is the only way out of this, that datum is the only thing you should worry about.

Scientific research, the kind that actually matters regarding Science (microbiology, virology, epidemiology, physical chemistry and technical textiles) has demonstrated masks to be safe, vaccines to be safe and COVID19 a real novel and fatal virus. If you need publications I can cite them. The 'research' you have done seems to be self affirming scientifically illiterate conspiracy theory websites, Twitter and Facebook.
