@anustubhmishra have you seen 3 idiots? Amazing movie and I heard it captures the problem well — a country with far too few quality universities for the population and that leaves the students working themselves to death just to get into one of the few high quality universities.

15:23 “although the sanctions (against Russia) may have slowed its efforts, it has not dissuaded them” sanctions don’t stop the current actions but they deter future actions from happening. Once a leader/govt makes a decision to invade, little stops them but if Putin knew the west would rally around Ukraine, he likely wouldn’t have invaded. These sanctions on Russia are likely helping to deter China from invading Taiwan or doing anything that might lead to such sanctions.
8
@Rahil, besides the video mentioning the supply chain (though loosely), the Apple Tim Cook thing you mentioned is ignoring that Apple gets heavy subsidies to stay in China. But Tim Cook wouldn’t want to admit that’s the main reason keeping him there.
8
@TeddyKrimsony yes, prevent them. Now imagine if those that did make it into Europe were sent back to shooting squads awaiting them like what China does. Europe has millions of refugees while China accepts none. Are you seriously arguing that europe is the same as China?
8
@nobodyspecial4702 Support for it is often almost entirely people lacking intelligence on the economic impact it has and that there are other options that could address these concerns...such as those discussed in the video.
8
@nobodyspecial4702 By denying American businesses access to the best shipping options, the Jones Act boosts transportation costs. Shipping oil from Texas to the Northeast costs three times more than shipping oil from Africa to the Northeast, an extra cost paid by U.S. consumers. For every $1 gained by U.S. sailors, shipbuilders and carriers as a result of the act, U.S. consumers lose more than $1, resulting in a net loss. The Jones Act is also bad for the environment. More expensive U.S. vessels mean the U.S. shipping industry has fallen behind in terms of innovation: Companies hang onto older, less fuel-efficient and more dangerous ships rather than updating or retiring them. Older fleets mean more pollution and energy use. High waterborne transportation costs also divert freight from ships to trucks and trains, which are more polluting too.

Most (or large %) of the Filipinos that came to California in the 70’s and 80’s were for nurse jobs. Their kids (now adults) also went in to nurse profession since it’s now part of the culture.
8
@calebamore Chïna is already seeing these issues. It’s hurting their economy but more importantly to the party, these monopolies get very powerful. That’s what they took down Jack Ma and are trying to break up some monopolies now after years of not caring.
8
@John_Smith_86 yeah, this is probably the 2nd or 3rd video I’ve seen from him that was very problematic. It glossed over most of the history of its terrible government and actions and tried to put the majority of the blame on US and France. Dominican Republic has a similar history, certainly with the US, and they doing well with one of the highest gdp per capita in Latin America. The difference is they have had competent government for a while now. And the video at the ends basically said Haiti will improve if receives no aid and support. Really?
8
@jcrobin1991 do you deny that there are concentration camps in China? You didn’t answer that and I’m sure you will Ignore it again. If you deny then concentration camps, what do you think is happening in all those prisons where millions of Muslims from Xinjiang have been sent?
7
@ArawnOfAnnwn but you said only 10% support independence. At least 30% and I’m sure the vast majority do if the question was asked if they support independence if China assured peace. But we all know China is a bully and would never let that happen thus while 30% support independence now or in the future, 55-60% support status quo and decide later. I agree that the Taiwanese are patient — they have to. This is about what China will do though.
7
@ArawnOfAnnwn Again, to make sure u aren't a 5.0. center, what do you think of the ge-noc.ide in Xinjiang? What happened in 1989 near Tiananmen Square? And what do you believe China is oppressing HK?
7
@vstachen7761 "Taiwan is China's territory in international law" what international law is that??? I'm sure ur handlers might let you answer that. I'm sometimes shocked u aren't told to hide ur identify with a more western name. It's like when those come online to repeat Putn talking points, they still have their username with "Vlad" in it.
7
@ArawnOfAnnwn " and then you fail to include a time." So let me get this straigt -- Trump put tarrifs on China and you think it is then reasonable for China to threaten to invade Taiwan, increase military fly overs, become more aggressive? That makes China extremely dangerous so how does that help you? Also, I pointed out that Taiwan lost all hope in 2019 & 2020 when they saw how horrible China treated HK. Is that also reasonable of China as revenge for Trump tariffs? You are describing PRC as a unhinged and dangerous. I saw that Savy S called you out on your timeline. The Democartic Progessive Party of Taiwan won an election and they were against unification. That was 2017. You know what else happened in 2017? The camps started in 2017. Very peaceful, right? Why do you support camps of Uyhgurs?
7
@wei270 “atrocities are not all genocide”. No one said they are but what’s happening there Literally fits the UN definition.
7
@wei270 "protests that disrupt public function shouldn't be legal," So you're saying that protest that the government doesn't like should be illegal? And you support having them executed on the spot?
7
@sophisticatedthumb5364 what do you think is going on in Xinjiang?
7
@clemente111 clothing isn’t the only aid and it’s far less common today. The most important aid is mosquito nets, clean water access, medicine, and healthcare services.
7
@Wha2les " If you start attacking China, then it would seem partisan." This is what I call the false 'centrist' argument. Would you say the same about Adolph? Would you produce a youtube video detailing what he did with a 'centrist' angle? Would a totally not bias non partisan video of Adolph make both the Jews and Adolph look equal? I understand what your saying but I disagree. Playing right down the middle makes it look like both sides have equal arguments but that is dangerous and can lead to prop/agandda.
7
@Wevie China does in Xinjiang. Or did they close down the conc camps and stopped forcing Uyghurs into factories?
7
@aaryankumar8770 india banned almost all wheat exports and this is how the world gets worse. It dries up wheat supply chain and then other countries will do the same but for different crops which will drive up those prices because of shortages. The Indian wheat export ban is bad for everyone including India
7
@arlosmith9504 you’re right, they have never done it publicly. Does invading Vietnam directly count as a coup?
7
@arlosmith9504 wow, you really don’t know about you’re Chinese history in Vietnam during 70’s. Yes, Pol Pot was Cambodians? Your point? But Vietnam invaded Cambodia and removed Pol Pot from leadership so China got upset their friend Pol Pot was removed and to defend Pol Pot, they invaded Vietnam
7
@truedarklander US coups in Latin America since end of Cold War is minimal. Same for UK and France and others.
7
@Daniel-gq4vw FYI, Ulrich is defending Rus everywhere. Probably works for moscow.
7
@lorentzcoffin4957 "military analysts will always say that any given force is “inadequate”." yes, because they are often considering it from a worst case scenario. This leads to a lot of exaggerated claims such as people saying Taiwan can't defend itself right now or that the US would lose in the war with China because of military games or exercise where the US lost. Those games are putting the US navy and military in a worst case scenario, not the expected scenario.
7
@agapp11able also, saying Russia doesn’t want to Invade is a lie. They do but they don’t because of the economic sanctions. They are already creating videos staging a scene where it looks like a russian village was attacked by Ukraine weapons. They wouldn’t be looking for justification if they had ZERO interest in attacking. But you’re the CCP shill that lied by saying China holds most of US debt when it’s only a small fraction and Japan holds even more. The same wumao that defends China over concentration camps of Muslims
7
@JagnaLesna Ulrich has now made two different arguments defending Putin - Russia in these comment sections. He’s pro Russia. Just like LanceArmor who literally just repeated Rus talking points
7
@RS-ff1cv you want your $0.50? Answer this, what’s going out in Xinjiang? Just an innocent gen.o.cide?
7
@EricManzane I woulndt say "useless" but it most certainly would be useless in a few routes and in other routes it would be less necessary. But there will be a few key routes where it makes all the sense. Overall, the declining population will make the HSR a bigger and bigger debt problem as population declines.
7
@gabbar51ngh Well the thing is OP works in Beijing so he's here to defend China.
7
@danielanderson6933 very well put. The rankings are a guide but should not be the only measure. I’m from the star of Illinois and there are few very high quality public universities here. Univ of IL might be 40th overall in the world and there might a 10th ranked in California but If I’m interested in engineering, Univ of IL is top 5 in US (top 10 world) and on par with the one in California for engineering. I can go to University of IL for half the cost than the one in California so why would people choose the one in California?
7
@alespic it doesn’t say the rankings are completely worthless but they they aren flawed. Furthermore, I stated my own opinion. The top 10 universities in the world from these rankings are indeed some of the best in the world. Don’t be the dummy that thinks the top 10 aren’t truly top 100. These rankings still provide a decent understanding of the quality of the universities even if they aren’t perfect.
7
@jackzhou4813 US didn’t invade Yugoslavia and and Afghanistan was 110% warranted. And vvumao, Taiwan never belonged to the PRC. Your logic would argue that Turkey can invade and take back all the Middle East, Northern Africa and southeast Europe. Do you support the ottomans, I mean Turkey, doing that?
7
@lc7583 you’re arguing that its okay for South Korea to invade North Korea, right? Literally the same example as your support for China invading Taiwan. You’re also arguing that Turkey has the right invade its neighbors and take back Ottoman Empire lands
7
@lc7583 mysteriously went silent when I pointed your logic is in support of South Korea invading North Korea or Turkey talking back Ottoman Empire lands
7
Same. I wish it had playlist too. I don’t like having to comeback for YouTube to see what people are thinking or to fact check claims on video.
7
@agapp11able hey wumao, it’s interesting you support the horribly oppressive authoritarian regime North Korea over the more peaceful democracy in South Korea. You South Korea “nominally Democratic” and say it’s a US puppet when North Korea isn’t even close to even being considered nominally democratic and not even close to being peaceful either.
7
I agree for the most part. I do think external intervention is some factor but this video seems to make that as the main factor with nothing else close. Haiti’s government has been horrible, oppressive, corrupt, and incompetent since it was founded. Next door Dominican Republic was able to overcome a similar history as Haiti with much more competent government.
7
Japan is very xenophobic like most of Asia. If you weren't japanese descent, you would have more trouble moving to Japan. For comparison, US has about 14% of it's population foreign born, Canada a little higher, western Europe around 8-15% on the average. Japan and South Korea are just over 2%. China is 0.1%. Japan, SK and China are all going through demographic collapses and all will need to bring in more immigrants. But culturally, they just don't' accept it. japan (and possibly SK) seem to be slowly easing into it. China, with their authoritarian government, is unlikely to to have any major increase for a while.
7
@saumyacow4435 ticket from Melbourne to Geelong round trip aus$26. You think lots of people would be willing to spend a$70 round trip each day to save 30 minutes each way? That’s an additional A$8,000+ per year it they are commuting to work. It wouldn’t be able to start or stop anywhere but downtown Melbourne and downtown Geelong.
6
@jcrobin1991 Huh, of course the WUMAO defends China over it's concentration camps and genocide. The population did go from 10 mil to 12.5mil but the genocide didn't start until 2017 so why are you using population from 20 years ago? Birth rates have dropped to well below national average suddenly beginning in 2017. So how does the population growing from 2000 to 2017 show that China isn't committing genocide since 2017?
6
@jcrobin1991 so 2010 data? Isn’t that before 2017?!? lol, what a wumao
6
@shuruiliu5713 It's no 'over built' and yet they are $1 trillion in debt and RAPIDLY growing despite half of the routes being very profitable?? "they can just increase the ticket price in rich region." LOL. Supply & demand. They already have low ridership in some of those routes -- how do you just increase ticket prices and still get the same or similar number of passengers? " we manufacture lots of steel, and we have to consume it, otherwise there will be economic crisis. Building HSR can create more jobs" Building more traditional rail or improving traditional rail also creates jobs and would have better use. That's why China is scheduled to build tens of thousands of KM of traditional rail in the next decade. Why do you people insist on arguing that China can make no bad decisions?
6
@wei270 question for you — what do you think of the gén.ôc.idè in western China? What do you of what happened in 1989 near Tiananmen Square?
6
@wei270 what Vietnam protest were people shot and killed? How many died? Was it as much 3,000? Was it ordered by the federal govt or just the city Police? Why did there continue to be protests but in China all protest against the national party ceased with no more protests since then?
6
@wei270 U do know that even peaceful protests against the Chinese government aren't allowed, right?
6
@necronis1876 it’s easy for these people not to care about others when they are selfish themselves and they support authoritarian measures. Each one of these denying Xinjiang are also unable to admit the party was at fault for killing thousands in 1989 Tiananmen Square. They can’t admit anything bad about that govt
6
@jperin001 yes, it is very hypocritical of the CCP to consistently say they are about equality while only having a relatively low number of high quality universities. All that does is insure that only the very top students can get good higher education. In most western nations, not only do very top students have access to high quality education but so do a large number of middle tier students ensuring more people have access to good education
6
@tacitus By that logic, Somalia is evidence what happens when people follow through with Republicans plan of limited government. You see how easy that is to do? Because you ignored Northern Europe has a bigger welfare state and yet is prosperous. FYI, I’m a moderate! I just think this analogy you created was not even remotely honest
