This video is a bit problematic IMO. First, the US isn’t the only supplier of weapons and aid to Ukraine. Europe has provided just as much as the US yet no mention of European aid. Second, for months already Ukraine has been shooting down drones with the German-made Gepard system, a vehicle that can send dual streams of 35mm rounds ripping into the sky to hit the drones. They are not using $100,000 missiles. Third, the video doesn’t seem to describe the consequences of all the actions mentioned that Russia is undertaking. The video suggest that Russia could put up with even 10:1 (10 Russian losses to 1 Ukrainian loss) ratio of losses for a long time. Each round of mobilization will make the war less popular In Russia. You cannot use WW2 as an example of how much Russia is willing to lose in terms of people’s lives because WW2 they were fighting to preserve the existence of the country – so Ukraine today would be a better comparison to Russia in WW2. In addition, the video mentions that mobilization of the poor, minorities, and disenfranchised communities wouldn’t pose big problems for the Kremlin. But it will, certainly for the minority regions where approval for Moscow is lower than the rest of the country. This could lead to potential revolts.

Seems to me that the two biggest factors in Argentinas slide since early 20th century are not fully taking part in the Industrial Revolution (sticking to agriculture and mining etc) and later terrible populist economic policies (give the people whatever they want rather than making sound economic policies) only to have to undo populist Policies before returning to those populist policies.

His "France still has colonies in Africa" was just as bad. Some of his recent videos are too alarmist or exaggerated. I've noticed the same with RealLifeLore going more alarmist and exaggerating events or possible events.
57
But money isn’t the reason US doesn’t have universal healthcare— after all, US spends the most on healthcare per capita.
33
There were attempts but it all stopped when Russia brutally attacked Chechnya. The brutality shown there made it obvious Russia didn’t change and would likely destroy nato or EU from within
32
“Check” and not “checkmate” would have been the perfect word

This channel makes way too many excuses for russia. It almost never mentions the underlying problem - russia itself a a very aggressive country that all its neighbors fear. Instead, this channel tries to portray Russia a victim as much as possible. He’s from Azerbaijan which is friendly with Russia so maybe that’s where his bias comes from.

@henryeghaghara9385 another reason now that today is a better time than 20 years ago. 20 years ago there was hope China (and Russia) would became respectable players in the global politics. The belief was capitalism would lead to these conuntries to make the same changes japan Taiwan and southeast Korea did. It has mostly worked for Eastern Europe. It seems now such thinking doesn’t apply to energy rich countries or countries so large that they can make the trade mostly under their terms thus no reason from them to take on any western value.
28
@facundomouly9446 US has little to do with argentinas problems. You sound like a typical tankie Argentine nationalist that I see often — blame everyone when the biggest blame should be on Argentina
27
Great analysis. I wished you took it a bit further to discuss Russia doing the same in caucus region with Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan as well as Central Asia with Kazakhstan and the other Stan countries. If this war doesn’t weaken Putin, those two regions are also a target.
25
@RM-el3gw you are right that Japan has been mostly stagnant since the 90’s. Japan didn’t grow because their working age population began to shrink in the 90’s. The reason their economy doesn’t shrink is because to offset a shrinking working age population, more women have entered the job market. And you’re seeing more elderly people working as well. Ultimately they need immigrants but that just doesn’t fly in Japan.

For sure. This video is a bit problematic. First, the US isn’t the only supplier of weapons and aid to Ukraine. Europe has provided just as much as the US yet no mention of European aid. @azahel542 real life lore did the same with North Korea video suggesting it’s all about North Korea defending itself. These YouTubers are becoming more alarmist while also seeming defending possible actions of bad actors. Yet, on France & Africa video a few days ago, it was a complete hit piece on France by leaving out a few countries voluntarily entered the African-French currency (franc) and that some have left with some even returning. All it did was portray it as negative without talking about the positives. I’m seeing this pattern a lot. Completely criticize the west and or excuse bad actors by suggesting they are just worried about their national security.
19
The ousted president said his family had 500 years in the same village so yeah, Afghanistan is very much about their village / tribe.
18
@alainarchambault2331 Argentina protected agricultural at the expense of industry a century ago and since then it’s enacted terrible business policies for the purpose of meeting populist sentiment.

17
@looseygoosey1349 I said the same thing an im not French. Let me guess, you’re extremely anti west? Because the video on France - Africa ignored that a few left the currency and some even returned back. In addition, some joined who were not even originally part of it! So, how anti west are you?
16
This isn’t accurate. Taliban has less than 50% approval. Afghanistan is full of tribal allegiance.
16
@henryeghaghara9385 the china debt to other nations cannot be understated. China has loaned out a lot of money and the pandemic has lead economic crisis in many countries China loaned to. Many are having trouble paying back China which means China will not be able to provide as many loans going forward
15
@victormacdougall6395 80% of men and 0% of women make for less than 50% of the population supporting the Taliban. Also, for less than 80% of men support the Taliban since tribal allegiance is more important.
15
@ArawnOfAnnwn “they didn’t develop backwards but failed to develop forward” is a good representation of Argentinas problem. It was a high income country in an era where agricultural sectors can compete with industry but as the 20th century continued to industrialized, Argentina was left behind. It didn’t create a business environment that encouraged industry.
13
13:00 I wish the video did a better job here of explaining how removing tariffs and privatization and debt increase lead to deindustrialization and mass unemployment when those same tactics lead to great industrialization in Asia among China and before them South Korea and Taiwan and Hong Kong. I think it missed some policy changes in this part of the video.

Instead, this channel tries to portray Russia a victim as much as possible. He’s from Azerbaijan which is friendly with Russia so maybe that’s where his bias comes from. @Pedro-zu3uq the video literally pointed out populism followed by corrections, followed by more populism, followed by corrections. At times the video did a terrible job of explaining how certain corrections lead to hurting industry. For example, it mentions that in the 1970s, they got rid of export tariffs, and privatized, which supposedly led to industry being hurt. This is the exact opposite of what Asia saw with similar privatization and opening up for trade. He clearly left off some policies in that discussion that led to industry being hurt. to this day Argentina still has care of some experts. How can you defend that?
9
@ofbelair67 you working for .50 RMB or rubles?
9
But I assume you are a f8sc1st supporter of Ruzzia / Putin and don’t see the problem with such a government being part of EU/NATO
8
@islandwills2778 *it seems to me that not all of russias neighbors fear them", yeah, only 90% of them. But we like to ignore those simple yet uncomfortable facts don't we, Ivan of Russia.
8
@bagaktv8984 what the taliban say they represent doesn’t make it true nor does it mean that’s what others believe. So if the Taliban say they represent Islam, it doesn’t mean the majority of the people believe it. Afghanistan is highly tribal and religious so that’s why Afghanistan hasn’t been truly unified. Taliban will be seeing lots of rebellions. National Uprising Movement in Ghazni Province are already rebelling.
8
@mitonaarea5856 nah, edo period did little industrialization. It was the Meiji period that transformed Japan.
8
@ArawnOfAnnwn IMF loans were bailout loans. Do not conflate them with Chinese loans that are for Chinese construction projects. China doesn’t offer much if any bailout loans. Those bailout loans were becuse those governments had major structural issues leading to economic issues and borrowing problems. They came to IMF aa last resort and no one will give another party a bailout loan of that party doesn’t make any reforms in return. It would Just be throwing money away
7
@sleeplessdev7204 Depends on you measure aid, most of the sources show the US has provided less aid than Europe.
7
@islandwills2778 your logic you have used in this thread could justify even Adolph. . Russia is aggressive (but completely downplayed in the video) and bullies it's neighbors and former puppet states. Those states are worried and join alliances for protection. Russia then sees those alliances as threats and thus has 'valid concerns' which they then use to follow through on the aggressiveness they have displayed
7
@matheuroux5134 Japan has grown since 1989 but very little. Stagnated would be a better description
7
@cseijifja Argentina tried industrializing but with terrible policies. A lot of countries have success but with less than Argentina.
7
Highly bias or click bait like video. These nations DECIDED to be part of this monetary system and even a couple left only to come back! A few others joined later. Some of them have been helped out by this system which is why a couple came back into the system.
6
CinemaVenatorITA ”geographical conformation”. He comes up with excuses after excuses for Russia.
6
@Andrew Foster, Are people not smart enough to understand it's a typo? The pie literally has India much smaller than China. A quick google search shows India's budget on defense for 2023 is USD $72 billion not $276b as mentioned in the graph. In addition, seconds after that graph he mentions that China's $230b don't include paramilitary forces, coast guard, R&D, space program and many other military activities. Even mentions that in 2017, all those cost and adjusted for purchasing power & exchange rate it was equal to 87% of the US spending in 2017. In 2023, he states China's % of US spending is likely higher.
6
@felipea1399 I’m pointing out that the US is but a tiny little part of the issues of Argentina ove the Past 130 years. But leftist like to exaggerate that and downplay Argentinas own mistakes. The US was part of Condor but the main players were the several South American countries involved with US only providing assistance.
6
@TheLabecki How did Russia want it and what did they do to show they wanted that? Russia was bullying it's neighbors, it was HIGHLY corrupt (thus a no for EU), and it showed extreme brutality in how it handed Chechnya war.
6
@ilFrancotti It's not the best video because it suggest there is no democracy solution to their problems. There is one indeed. But it requires a lot of work and it requires the powers in the west of Russia to give up some of their powers and wealth and have some of that political power and wealth spread to the east.
6
@algot34 Sure, but I'm talking bout minorities. Did you miss that part? I specifically highlighted minorities and disenfranchised communities. I know that among rural ethnic Russians, support for Moscow is highest. But the minorities do not have that same level of support.
5
@victormacdougall6395 my point is you are ignorantly wrong that most Afghans support the Taliban.
5
@victormacdougall6395 not a thing changed in Afghanistan because the country is extremely tribal. Each region is and has always been highly disconnected from the others. This is why you are WRONG that Taliban has majority support. What the Taliban has is enough men with the will to fight and the will to slaughter massive numbers of innocent people to get their opponents to surrender.
5
@RM-el3gw the economist who said what is in the OP died in 1985 so it’s a statement of how surprising it was for Japan to get so rich and Argentina not to get rich. The difference in economic policies. Argentina was given great resources to start while Japan has little resources.
5
100% agree as American. A stronger europe means the US not only has stronger partners but partners more capable of checking the US if it strays too far in one direction. But europe just doesn’t want to pay to become stronger but many of them complain about it nonetheless.

Instead, this channel tries to portray Russia a victim as much as possible. He’s from Azerbaijan which is friendly with Russia so maybe that’s where his bias comes from. I think I’m done with Channel.

@jannecoolen2816 " But around 2009 the Russian sentiment had shifted: " Well before 2009 there was no interest in either side to have Russia as NATO. The 2008 invasion of Georgia basically caused a massive rift but Russia was already heading in that direction before and mid 2000's Putin was making anti EU anti NATO comments. The war on terrorism did creat cooperation but I think with rising oil & gas prices in mid 2000's, Russia felt they could be more aggressive and wouldn't need NATO. Regarding EU, I 100% agree. OP wasn't asking in good faith (pro Putin/Ruzzia) but the requirements for EU are tough and Russia along with several others interested just have too much corruption and or not enough democracy. Given how Hungary and to a less extent Poland has acted in the EU, it will likely be even tougher to join the EU today and in the future.
4
Great video. At the start I thought you were going to argue they can't be a democracy because of the possible invasion from Europe which I thought is a BS opinion. But then you pivoted to the east and many regions that are vastly different in culture. I think they can maintain all of that with a strong democracy but that would mean the powers in the west of Russia would need to give up some power. It would require eastern parts of Russia to have more influence in the government. This would be very difficult.
4
@ernestolago correct, one can be rich by having as a major industry exporting of commodities or agricultural goods. Australia and New Zealand are examples. Australia and New Zealand on agricultural produce higher value goods, moved up the chain on ag goods as well, and have strong domestic functioning domestic markets.
4
@dianapennepacker6854 "Once the market and politics start to play a role then we will mine our own but right now it doesn't make sense. " Only if the US/west can get Lithium and other rare metals from another country that isn't China.
