... Desalination is a very pricey concept - it may be necessary, but it IS costly. But in the meantime, it occurs to me that while in some parts of the country there are massive floods on a regular basis, in OTHER parts, there are deadly droughts - threatening human and animal life, as well as agriculture - both in terms of livelihoods and the food we eat.
Now, IF we can build pipelines to transport oil and natural gas for hundreds of miles, why can we not build some practical kind of water transport system - controlled in a similar fashion as the power dams we already have ?
It would take time, yes. It would take money - of course - but it might go a long way toward solving future problems AND saving lives ! ...
It would CERTAINLY provide jobs, stimulate growth in numerous States and increase tax revenue at all levels - and such a mega-project would add to the coffers of local business all along the way.
