The point of my last reply was that Socialized Medicine - Like proper Government Funding for Sanitation as a part of Infrastructure for ALL American Communities, and not just the Wealthy ones - is essential in this day and age. And just as an aside, you CAN treat Hookworm; it's a MEDICAL issue, after all. They use Anthelminthic meds. to treat the infection and it takes about three days.

The reason that I say that is this : American Government - despite all the noble words the public voices have extolled so rapturously over the decades, is a numbers game. You folks have gotten by, so far, by the dubious " honor " of a majority of Reps from BOTH Parties, as in the Watergate issue - wherein a sufficient number of Republicans saw the actuality of Nixon's guilt and sided with the Dems to take action. So far as Trump is concerned, the GOP stuck with their feckless leader and the US Legal System (so-called) failed. The RNC should have been made to choose another candidate, one WITHOUT 34 Convictions already handed down, and many others pending, but the US Electoral rules don't have any such provision ... and as for the " Checks & Balances " we've heard so much about - THEY haven't worked on Trump since 2016 ... America got EXACTLY what they worked for. A Conman in the Oval Office and a brand new herd of gators for the Swamp ! ... Enjoy ! ...

Where IS God ? - Whatever else HE is doing, HE doesn't seem to be interested in the REAL WORLD of men ... If HE was, there wouldn't be so many Innocent Victims, Starving people and Self-serving Leaders. I have a large Book Collection - many of them quite old and wonderfully out-of-date. These days all I want to do is escape into them. But we can't bury our heads in the sand and try to pretend it's not happening ... people are nuts, now - and it gives me an awful headache.

  26.  @oleeoleeoo2610  Thank You ! - I AM Canadian, and I've had THREE - Count-'em THREE Mini-Strokes, due to an Atrial Septal Defect - a so-called Hole in the Heart. This is a common condition suffered by one-in-four people - most of these folks Never even know they have this condition, because it USUALLY doesn't manifest as a problem. The first event was so mild that I didn't even know it WAS a Stroke, - I just couldn't speak coherently for two or three hours - and there were no other symptoms. The last two put me in the Hospital for a week each time. My experience with Canadian Healthcare: (A.) No waiting, because your waiting-time (a common complaint of Americans, because they've been lied to by US Politicians) is based upon the severity of the patient's condition, - not how good your Personal Insurance Plan is. (B.) Top-drawer care - I have even received numerous MRA's - (and those things are expensive) - over the last few years. (C.) Very inexpensive Medications, up here, folks, - Sanders is being straight with you. ... Last but not least, far from dying out, - Capitalism is alive and well in Canada, and so is our Personal Freedom. Americans don't seem to be able to understand that you can have social services (which they ALREADY HAVE - Medicare, Medicaid and many others) and still be a Free Country.

We bought our first and only house in 1980, raised two kids, owned a single car at a time, let it die of old age and stayed home a lot.
