Fascinating. I'm sure many, many words will be written about how and when the rf turned into a fascist country. I'm glad you got out, I just hope for your sake that you don't have any Z-heads among your relatives and friends, because that must be awful!

@Muf315 DO NOT put Ukraine on the same level as russia - russia is the aggressor, Ukraine is defending itself by any means necessary and is fully entitled to do that. Note that russia's war against Ukraine started in 2014, and Ukraine has only recently started attacking russian territory.
22
@SHANindahouse Not at all, the responses are often surprising and he often links to the uncut (also unsubtitled) footage so people can see that he's not curating the selection to "bend" the videos. It's quite normal for this kind of video to be edited, who says it "should be" in one frame? Most people they approach refuse to talk and walk away, there's only so many of those anyone can show in any one video.

The English teacher? She could have chosen to say all that in English, and much better than many of the other interviewees who choose to answer in English, but she said it all in russian, without even affecting hesitation as some do. She's cool. I wish her the best.

@СергейМонин-д7с It matters because many of those ethnic russian inhabitants settled in Crimea after the native population was deported (which amounts to genocide, particularly considering how many Crimean Tatars died before reaching their enforced destination). The tone of your response indicates that your "Crimean" relatives are probably descended from those russians. Again, a substantial number of people was displaced after russia invaded Crimea in 2014, because, understandably, they didn't want to live under russian rule. One thing the whole world is now learning about russians, is that you have a way of clearing a territory of huge numbers of its original inhabitants - by deportation, starvation, intimidation or just plain mass murder - before counting who's left and decide that because of their first language and/or ethnicity, clearly the territory belongs to you and was in fact always yours. Crimea is Ukraine and the russians who settled there after 2014 (as well as all those who want to live on russian rather than Ukrainian territory) will soon be making the reverse journey.

@caiolima1-s9c Yes. It's literally one of the best-known facts about the soviet union
20
What are you smoking....?
19
@SHANindahouse you're just one of the many trolls who post under Daniil's videos, his work it too important not to attract a few critters
19
I've kind of avoided reading too much about this "history book" because I find the whole thing nauseating - but that's not a good reason to avoid something so important, so thank you for confronting me with it. The demented voiceover was perfect! Stay safe, kids 🤍

A hug from London

@sciencerox9102 I see your point, but what to do when there's clearly no one to vote for but a mass-murdering mob boss, and it's obvious that elections are a purely performative process in the country? I understand the people who say they don't / won't vote, and I just hope that at least some of them are trying to undermine the status quo by other means, which they're not disclosing for obvious reasons.
18
"There's no way russia would just attack" 🤣🤣🤣
18
True, but I also get the feeling that Daniil sometimes laughs when he is truly shocked. And it must be shocking to hear a person, right there with you in real time, openly call for genocide. Credit to Daniil, he has honed the perfect response to keep up the interview and stay out of trouble
17
Thanks for reminding me of that 😁 Tragically, it took less than a century for his kind to regain power 😖
17
Thanks for the interesting video, it's good to hear from the people of Belarus and as someone who escaped from Italy as a teenager and has no intention of EVER going back, I'm glad and kind of touched that so many people have a positive view of my native country.
17
@Carol.Allison I didn't either, and it makes me appreciate her even more but also, how tragic that an intelligent and morally decent person - who's already taking a risk by saying some of the things she did say out loud - has to resort to something like that to express her opinion 🥺
16
@leonardoorellano6652 Without russian special forces there would have been no unrest in the Donbas and Crimea. Girkin, Prigozhin admitted it freely. And to be honest I'll listen to them before I listen to a troll like you - at least they were there and they knew what they did.
16
@@markbranham7355 She sounds like someone telling a well-documented truth. You sound like a pro-russian troll.
16
And those figures don't even include the dead in occupied cities like Mariupol, where they were never counted and have since been disposed of in mobile crematoria or along with the rubble of the buildings they died in 🥺😡
16
@j.k.1239 That's like saying that a woman wouldn't have been stabbed by her abusive ex if only she'd let him move back into the rooms he broke into - knowing that eventually he'd take over the whole house again. I mean, HOW unreasonable to stand up for yourself in the face of aggression 🤬 ❤🖤❤🖤❤🖤
16
@juri2001 If you can say that Ukraine is part of russia you're a troll, and what you say doesn't count
16
I knew that guy was going to say something aggressive as soon as he opened his mouth. He probably agreed to be interviewed mostly because he didn't like the look of Daniil.
15
@WIZBANG420 ... what...?
15
I'm not denying the guy's ignorance about the US (though US imperialism is a thing, he's not wrong about that, just hugely misinformed), but I found it endearing that he could be so vehemently anti-American while speaking so passionately against the war in Ukraine at the same time...something that none of the comments I've read so far seem to mention. I kind of like him.
15
@Erix442 That's not xenophobia, it's called being sensible. Estonia isn't doing that to people whose countries are not engaged in genocide and openly talking about reoccupying them in the near future.
15
@gopatych Hello sane and decent russian person ☺ If I ever spontaneously spell "russian" with a capital initial again, it will be thanks to folks like you... who are also the main reason I haunt these comment sections! It's always worth stumbling on a few trolls to find one comment like yours. Take care, and remember we know you exist 🤍💙🤍
15
@abdooljackson1399 Homosexuality and bisexuality are no more right or wrong than heterosexuality - and if for whatever reason you can't deal with that, YOU have to prove the opposite.
15
Your mother wouldn't get this, but you're one of the people who make me want to spell the word 'russian' with a capital initial again, one day. And even though I know it's not the same coming from a faceless stranger, I'm really proud of you. Please do whatever you need to do to stay safe in this madness. A big hug from London ❤
15
@dpelpal Apparently Orwell's books are banned in russia at the moment... damn I heard it in a video I watched earlier today but I can't remember which one! (I'm home with the flu - too much YT) Someone wanted to donate books to a library and was given a list of books and authors that would not be accepted, and Orwell's on that list. Unless it was a US late night show video I was watching, and they were talking about Florida 🥺
14
🤣🤣
14
I'm sorry to hear you have so much trauma in your family history. My grandparents resisted and thankfully survived the nazi occupation of Italy - no gulag for them, but I can relate.
14
@natureblank1401 Because of people like you, I imagine
13
Well said. I wasn't able to reply to the troll who replied to your comment so I had to attach my reply to yours - I hope that's clear!
13
@yellowtunes2756 I'm assuming you're talking about 2014 and NO, the Revolution of Dignity was not a civil war, and what happened in Crimea and Donbas was the actual start of russia's current war against Ukraine, clearly planned BEFORE the Revolution of Dignity. As for the US and NATO's past and current wars... yes, it should have been really easy to gain and maintain the moral high ground over them, and the rf has failed miserably on all counts. They're making the US and NATO *look good*. What an achievement.

@firmonkey8782 🇺🇦 Все буде Україна 🇺🇦
13
@barnabastoth9283 Do communicate that to your prime minister...
13
@Gopferteckel He's a middle-aged guy, not even 50
12
You have a very strong stomach, my friend... and balls of steel! Thank you for your invaluable work. Take care. 🤍💙🤍
12
@WangAiHua Thanks! Is that why Ukrainians say "go back to the swamp"? I thought it was just a metaphor.
12
All captives returned. Retribution for any war criminals that may still be alive at that point. Reparations.
12
@НатальяТерехова-с6х It is indeed utter rubbish. However, if we were imprisoned for criticising them in public, most of our comedians would be behind bars
12
@ericcooper8173 Let's just drop this whole family metaphor between Ukrainians and russians, ok...? Ukrainians hate it, and for good reason. Try telling Irish people that the English are their "cousins", and see how that goes. Same.
11
@AG-vb6vv The people of Crimea did decide for themselves. In 1991, they voted to remain in Ukraine.
11
@kdexter2690 brexit was immensely stupid - the campaign was funded partly by a russian oligarch, so it didn't exactly come out of nowhere - but it's hard to be "very doomed" when you have free universal healthcare
11
@sergeypopov8279 This isn't about resurrecting anyone, stop derailing... russia invaded a sovereign country that was trying to mind its own business - that country asked for help, and naturally asked the countries most likely to provide that help. Those countries have screwed up a lot in the past - let's hope that's firmly in the past now - they are now, for once, doing the right thing. That's it.
11
@lebed-lev The russian federation has no right to any of Ukraine's territory. The only reason putin freaked out at the thought of Ukraine joining NATO and the EU is that he knew he wouldn't be able to invade it then, so it had to be done now. And we all know it. Your trolling isn't working, go look for another job.
10
@khaartoumsings Except that russia is still at it - you may have noticed that the British Empire kind of moved on
10
Not entirely hopeless, but nearly... And in places - you all know what I mean - more horrifying than most 1420 videos. I'm so impressed with the interviewer for keeping his cool after that speech about how cool it is to torture and kill, and for good money, too! 😬
10
@ZhenyaBruss I've heard Siberians and Buryats talk about this and, unsurprisingly, they have a very different take on it.
