@BBBB-nd8pl Embryos aren't babies.
24
What's the harm in never being born?
12
Yes, as a matter of fact. Ask the women involved; I'm not going to do your research for you.
6
@bruh83483 There is no murder.
6
@paull2166 Embryos aren't babies.
6
Very true, but this video is, in part, disingenuous. There's some important stuff that they leave out: the desire to prevent people from being born into poverty, the desire to prevent people from being born into suffering of any type, the decline in total fertility rates we're seeing in most of the world, etc. I give thanks every day for my vasectomy.
6
@TheGuiltsOfUs Embryos aren't babies.
6
Embryos and fetuses aren't babies. They lack personhood, i.e. all the characteristics that are taken away from someone when someone is killed. They are in a quasi-parasitic relationship with the host organism. There's no harm in not being born.
6
Indeed, there's no harm in not being born. That applies to everyone.
6
They think that sex is icky.

Embryos and fetuses are not babies.

@Kudz_LastmanStanding Oh, I know what you're trying to say. But no, abortion is not murder. Embryos & fetuses don't have personhood, the characteristics that make killing wrong. That comes later.
4
@christaime9812 No, that's not what personhood is. It refers to the characteristics that make killing wrong: sentience, the will to live, biological autonomy, and all of the other things that are taken away when a person is killed. In a rudimentary but very real way, babies have that. Embryos & fetuses don't and can't. Also, we don't all agree with your religious fairy tales.
4
@guardtheham1233 It's not a question of life. It's a question of personhood, the characteristics that make killing wrong: sentience, the will to live, biological autonomy, and everything else that's taken away when a person is killed. In a rudimentary but real way, babies have that. Embryos & fetuses do not, and cannot. There's no harm in not being born.
4
@Kudz_LastmanStanding I agree, but that has nothing to do with abortion. Also, why the asterisks?
3
There is no baby (it's an embryo or a fetus), and there is no lord.
3
The word is "biased," not "bias." Anyway, you're right, but this video is, in part, disingenuous. There's some important stuff that they leave out: the desire to prevent people from being born into poverty, the desire to prevent people from being born into suffering of any type, the decline in total fertility rates we're seeing in most of the world, etc. I give thanks every day for my vasectomy.
3
@guardtheham1233 They don't have personhood yet. That comes later, referring to the characteristics that make killing wrong.
3
@guardtheham1233 That applies to persons.
3
@guardtheham1233 Not this again. Yes, you can, because said woman isn't giving consent to have the pregnancy terminated. That's why fetal homicide laws were codified, with violent third parties in mind, assaulting women.
3
@zsoltbakos685 No, they are incapable of doing anything at all to anyone, as they have no will. You don't know what you're talking about. Human life is not the issue; personhood is.
3
That, and the desire to punish people for having sex.
3
diszy Embryos aren't babies.
3
True, but this video is in part disingenuous. There's some important stuff that they leave out: the desire to prevent people from being born into poverty, the desire to prevent people from being born into suffering of any type, the decline in total fertility rates we're seeing in most of the world, etc.
3
Why apologize, and which human beings?
3
@irinakarlstein Not so. They mean very different things. Babies have been born. What we have here is a philosophical question about what makes killing wrong, i.e. personhood.
3
True, but this video is, in part. disingenuous. There's some important stuff that they leave out: the desire to prevent people from being born into poverty, the desire to prevent people from being born into suffering of any type, the decline in total fertility rates we're seeing in most of the world, etc. I give thanks every day for my vasectomy.
3
@Kudz_LastmanStanding A human that has been born; I don't know when the "baby" stage ends.
2
@Kudz_LastmanStanding First of all, the womb is not the stomach! Second, of course human embryos are human. So what?
2
@christaime9812 As it happens, life support is disconnected very frequently, and there are other manifestations of euthanasia, so "we" do. Also, atheism is no fairy tale; I'm not the one espousing a bunch of made-up old stories. Do you have the same religion as your parents? Most people do, and somehow that's always the correct religion. Fascinating.

This video is, in part, disingenuous. Something else- Asia stretches from the Sinai Peninsula (part of Egypt!) to, say, the Philippines. "Asian" can mean a huge number of different things. What a strange situation.
2
If you believe a brief aside made by George Orwell in an essay, this has been true since the 1930s.
2
Igor Horváth You missed the point.
2
Igor Horváth There's no harm in being aborted. It's very different than the killing of someone with personhood.
2
Very true! However, this video is, in part, disingenuous. There's some important stuff that they leave out: the desire to prevent people from being born into poverty, the desire to prevent people from being born into suffering of any type, the decline in total fertility rates we're seeing in most of the world, etc. I give thanks every day for my vasectomy.
2
Ok, but she's smug and, in part, disingenuous. There's some important stuff that they leave out: the desire to prevent people from being born into poverty, the desire to prevent people from being born into suffering of any type, the decline in total fertility rates we're seeing in most of the world, etc.
2
@zsoltbakos685 No, embryos & fetuses haven't the capacity to be innocent or guilty. There's no harm in not being born.
2
@zsoltbakos685 I didn't say that it wasn't human, nor that it wasn't technically alive. I don't have inconsistent standards, and I think that others should agree because it seems perfectly sensible to me.
2
@TheGuiltsOfUs No such thing.
2
This video is, in part, disingenuous. There's some important stuff that they leave out: the desire to prevent people from being born into poverty, the desire to prevent people from being born into suffering of any type, the decline in total fertility rates we're seeing in most of the world, etc. I give thanks every day for my vasectomy.
2
@jean6453 Exactly. We need fewer perpetrators and fewer victims.
2
It's disappointing. It is, in part, disingenuous. There's some important stuff that they leave out: the desire to prevent people from being born into poverty, the desire to prevent people from being born into suffering of any type, the decline in total fertility rates we're seeing in most of the world, etc. I give thanks every day for my vasectomy.
2
@christopherbrooks6355 Not this again. For one thing, that "model minority" canard is damaging to all involved. For another, by "high government intervention" you're referring to police and prisons, right?
2
@breadogi7118 You don't know anything about the history of all this, do you?
2
Thus, we need fewer of the perpetrators and fewer of the victims.
2
Very true, but this video is, in part, disingenuous. Besides that, I don't want to see people, anywhere in the world, be born only to suffer. I think of my nephews, think of the crises that will define their lives, and I get sad. I wish that I had never been born (for a lot of reasons), and in fact I wish that for everyone. "People Ain't No Good" - Nick Cave
