You could point at the frontline at any time and say "omg, Russia has stopped" and wait for something big to happen Ukraine just shown what does it take to push fast - thousands of dead and wounded within days. Russia did it too at the start of the war, but captured huge amounts of territory, instead of few villages in a small pocket that has to be supplied through pontoon across the river

  2.  @mandoreforger6999  you're talking about capturing entire Donbas within days, but forgetting about Stalingrad and Leningrad being held for almost 3 years. You're forgetting about Breslau being besieged for 3 months few months before end of the war, when Germans used children to fight cos they had no troops left. Fortifications matter. And Ukraine was building them around Donbas for 8 years. There's a reason why attack in this region is so slow while in other regions villages are taken left and right. But Russia can't just push in other directions, cos Russia uses limited troops. That's why "bomb enemies into depression and then push" strategy is used right now And when Russia controls entire city and some enemy soldiers are sitting in literal bunkers with no ability to get more ammo - they are basically done for. If you have all criminals in jail - it doesn't mean that you have problem with crimes in your country, because those criminal's can't escape

  3.  @allydea  Russia fires 75k shells per day compared to 35k shells that NATO supplies to Ukraine in entire month. Considering that part of those 300k will be delivering supplies - i doubt that they will have any problems Some soldiers need less training than others. Big part of those 300k are people who served in "contract army" (war is their career), but they cancelled their contracts shortly after war in Ukraine started. So they don't need much additional training I'm Russian and i can assure you that 95% of people who stayed in Russia have the same opinion: "I don't want to fight, but if my country calls me - i will do it with no questions". So "against their will" is too strong of the word. And it's the same for Ukrainians And btw about salary, they all can still go to Wagner for loads of money. Even if Russian army called them already.

  4.  @GeneralDiamondSlayer  troops with few days of training and no equipment can't push. Vast majority of Ukranian troops are sitting trenches and dying to Russian artillery. In this offensive Ukraine not only lost their most experienced troops, but also a lot of equipment, they can't afford it. Russia is the opposite - they can loose equipment, but not soldiers By loosing equipment - Ukraine looses the ability to push and defend territories well. Obviously, if Ukraine manages to push Russia out of their side of Dnepr river - Ukraine will be able to put more troops on other fronts, but if they won't have enough equipment - it's not gonna change anything for Russia, they will bomb 50 guys in the trench somewhere in Donbas instead of 30 guys (more kills for the same amount of ammo). In my opinion, without shit loads of equipment from NATO (thousands of artillery pieces and tanks) - this offensive is useless at best and can be bad for Ukranians

  5.  @imperialnerd4662  yeah Ukraine stated that they need 500 javelins per day. Btw Lockheed produces 2000 javelins per year. And usa already sent 5500 javelins in total. Considering that Russia has around 13k tanks in total, not all javelins destroying tanks in one hit (due to lack of experience or bad angle) - entire NATO can't produce enough weapons to stop Russia

  7.  @georgegreen4819  i mean, Ukraine pushed through little bridgehead, deep in Russian lands, surrounded by Russian forces, shelled by artillery and aircraft. And that's all in open fields with little to no places to hide. Dude, there are photos of tanks being destroyed so much that only their trucks are remaining Russians aren't trapped there, cos Russia can make dozens of pontoon ferries and each can deliver up to 360 tons of ammo and equipment. It's a lot easier for Russia to supply their troops, than to Ukraine, because their pushed deeply in Russian lands, they are basically in cauldron, surrounded by 3 sides, while all their supplies are coming from few pontoon bridges that can be shelled at any moment Btw, every Russian soldier in Ukraine signed the contract and can cancel it at any time. So everyone who's still fighting - wants to be there. Unlike Ukranian conscripts

Read the article "extending Russia" from 2019 from Institute of the study of war. Which is owned by Nuland's husband if I'm not mistaken. Very interesting

But I legit can't think of any military objective Ukraine could have hoped to capture other than the Kursk itself or a powerplant. Either Ukrainian commanders made some unimaginably genius move that noone can figure out or it was the dumbest thing they could have done

Artillery, like grad, shells huge area and there's a decent chance that some shrapnel hits soldier in high speed. Tos 1 is a flamethrower and it can kill you even if you're in trench while shell landed 10m away from you. Plus drones with grenades. Also if you're attacking entrenched position - it's enough to pin down defenders with tank fire and throw grenades into their trench while pushing in relative safety. It's not old wars where soldiers had to run through open fields against machine guns Not to mention that artillery can be corrected by drone operators and land shots more precisely

Himars has the same range as smerch and tornado s, but Russian artillery has more rockets and has far larger quantities. Pzh2000 has same range and accuracy as koalitsya. There are also tons of missiles like Kinzjal that are multiple times faster than any NATO missile. So what Russian artillery is worse than NATO? Russia lost 6k men plus DNR, LNR and Wagner, not that much. USA indeed only lost 60k, but south Vietnam lost 400k and 1300k wounded, compared to north Vietnam 700k dead and 600k wounded. It's not that big of a difference considering wounded and the way USA fought this war and killing 2m civilians "Russia won't win" - for Russia it's about security of Russia, for USA it was about fighting another proxy war against USSR. Considering how little equipment NATO sends to Ukraine - Russia simply can't loose. Well, until NATO decides to actually send Ukraine heavy equipment in hundreds and thousands Well, 80% of casualties in any war caused by artillery and bombs. Russia has huge advantage in artillery and air force. Russia has more and better equipment. Russia was barely attacking since march and mostly just spamming Ukraine with artillery. So Russia probably lost like 10 times less soldiers than Ukraine

USA gave 14k planes, but USSR made 40k IL-2 alone and 100k other plane variants So yeah, lendlease gave USSR around 4-10% of their military equipment depending on type. Obviously it was a good help, but it's nothing compared to USSR production Zhukov most likely never said such a thing, writer Boris Sokolov made this phrase up and he isn't a reliable sources of information due to many lies he told before
