Hopefully, America will get back to peacemaking.

@njpaddler there is some truth to that one. The additional antenna would have helped. But all indications are Fred's navigation was dead on. Weather conditions did not let them see the island or the ship. The radio operator reported strong signals.
6
Jim Fortune The USN's Zumwalt class is deserving of the name.

🙇🏽♂️ normally I could form some sort of comment. But, I don't know what to make of this story? I doubt there's random Russian submarines shooting down cargo planes in 1951? Aircraft having just random explosions? There have been some. 62 crashes is kind of a lot for transport aircraft. The lack of any sort of Mayday or SOS does lead to the conclusion something catastrophic occurred.

I have to ask, did Isaac Johnson make any money off of this patent?🙋🏽♂️ Military bikes are still a thing. Lightweight, folding, and with Electric power, Troops can cover greater ground and carry gear on the bike. Japanese and Vietnamese forces learned the lessons of this experiment.
6
@TheHistoryGuyChannel kind of sad. All modern bike design is based on that configuration. Thank you Mr Johnson.

Gerald Ford became vice president of the United States under Richard Nixon. He replaced the previous vice president Spiro Agnew. Agnew had to resign from office. When Nixon resigned, Ford became president. Thus he held both offices without ever having been elected.

"Gray Patriots?" Yeah, okay....
5
It was a dumb rule. Let the best play.
5
It is the little things that turn into something major. NASA Thought a piece of foam was no big deal too....
5
@MrCellophane60613 Sad, fun fact. The crash that killed Paul Matnz, was meant for Frank Tallman.Frank hurt his leg. Later enough to be amputated. So his partner took his place....
5
Most would say it is paved in blood.
5
@TheHistoryGuyChannel Good reply.... In my experience, only those with a agenda bring up the Liberty. Both sides have long since moved on and consider things settled.
5
I have to give the Germans credit for pulling off a brilliant piece of strategic bombing.
5
Good question. 🤔
5
To be honest, production of the Garand was slow. Neither the Marine Corps or USN were equipped with them pre-war.
5
Evan Moyer That is like saying "Animal House" was mildly humorous. Sadly, it never got the praise of his other films. It may explain why Spielberg made no more comedy films.
5
A very interesting resume. Thank you for sharing this one.
5
They held Dunkirk till VE day.
5
Sounds like a real jerk. 😒
5
@pickeljarsforhillary102 That was then. He regreted that and when the Surrender of Japan was held, Mac Arthur had Wainwright at his side to take the surrender of his captors. Next time, tell the whole story.....
5
That is sad....
5
Your comment is ridiculous on many levels.
5
Jim Fortune Well the DDG 1000 class is turning into a pricey bleep up. And we have one more to build. Named ironically for the guy who's Destroyers started a war. LBJ.
5
jsl151850b The term your should use is "search" mode. As for the Andrea Doria? Half right.... They had the wrong range settings on. Thus misjudging the distance between ships. Another event worthy of a video 5 mins!
5
Ford had a unlucky term.
5
Well..... there's kind of No Lack of 1911 videos on YouTube.
5
Speaking of submarines..... Former President Jimmy Carter turns 97 today. 🎂
5
@Marty Man Marty, the butterfly net is waiting....
5
Neil Anderson Meaning what?
5
@Zakalwe-01 Your loss.
5
Sad, we are the only ones old enough to remember the sketch.

The commanding officer of any ship is a captain. The rank is different.
4
Funding was cut to make room for the Skylab program.
4
Did Fala inspire the Dog in the, "Monopoly" game?
4
Other channels hit that topic.
4
@RicTic66 That is a silly name. Fine for a party yacht. Not a Naval vessel.
4
@jaybee9269 It's 6 grade humor.
4
Bob Nicholas Thank the billions spent on the Department of Education .
4
The US Navy's Admiral David Farragut, got his start as a midshipman at the tender age of 9. First command at 12.
4
Blunder is a strong reach. Carriers we're unproven technically or tactically.
4
@HM2SGT there's not much Wilderness in 1884 Ohio...
4
Your comment is off. All nations have a 200 mile zone of Economic control. International water is at 12 miles.
4
Wait a sec.... First, a well documented topic. There were 3 squadrons and formed the 23rd Fighter Group when they joined the AAF in 1942. Impact? They were the major alliled airpower in the CBI for years. Kept enemy airpower off the Burma Ledo Road and protected cargo over the Himalayas.
4
@wallacethomas9844 you are correct. I looked up a list of his credits. He is credited with that stunt.
4
I was just about to ponder that question.
4
Enemy fleet blocking the route.
4
It's All Greek to me... 😉
4
Is Ft. Irwin named in his honor?
4
To be fair, there was very little accommodation to fit additional people on a U-boat.
