  8. @ lol, I am not referring to the PRC’s “sixth gen” demonstrator. Rather the F-35. And we do have technology. Besides already having a sixth generation aircraft (by its own label + the definition the PRC has set) AND we’ve had a minimum of three different 6th gen fighters prototypes flying for years. The only thing the PRC did was release a fuzzy video of an aircraft that seems nowhere near production.

  9.  @Shadowboost Satellites could be shot down decades ago and people who say satellites can fully replace high altitude spycraft don’t know what they’re talking about. I am not saying such a plane exists, but if it doesn’t, you’ve lost an important tool, especially when you’re trying to figure out if and where they’re moving nuclear TELs.

  16. I doubt the PRC has figured out the material sciences needed for the true LO composites to be anywhere close to the F-35 or F-22. But, yeah, they’re doing better on ensuring they still have engineers. Our future generations all think they’ll be “influencers.”

  18. I’d say Formula 1 is the true standard of competitive cheating / loophole finding. They have both engineers and lawyers looking through the rules to find both loopholes and legal language mistakes so they can violate the spirit, but not letter of the law.

  31.  @yu6387t3d I’d like to see an answer to this question too. A CIWS is, after all, mounted on a moving, unstable platform. It may just be a matter of how compact the system controlling the gun is. After all, ship and land based CIWS have zero space restrictions and can use targeting from massive and insanely expensive radars + computers.

  41. The carrier groups should simply tow platforms with hundreds of VLS cells. The launchers are incredibly simple. It’s just a matter of space. These Andruil drone interceptors are an improvement but still too expensive for the fairly simple job it needs to do.
