The Future Is Here What manufactures make a non lame interior then if you think Audi is lame?
2
CareerFireman what car would you recommend?
2
CareerFireman Yes, but what do you drive or recommend? It’s a simple question.
2
hlf_coder mine took 7 months to come, but I also got an Exclusive color. Normally it should take 4 -5 months. Sometimes you can lucky and find one at a dealer. Some people will back out before their car comes. They are a rare car and mostly special order. You will love it coming from an S3. Tuning the 5 cylinder takes it to another level.
2
CareerFireman for 60k it’s a good deal for what you get. Next step up for an AWD car that’s this quick or quicker stock is an E63s or M5 which are both bigger cars and 120k. What would you consider a great car for the money? You probably won’t answer.
2
You should probably do research. The B58 is a great engine capable of making some excellent power when modded. This also is much more superior than the BRZ. It feels like high quality German steel vs tin. Driving wise, they are worlds apart.
2
Eventually Honda will be all hybrid. Less moving parts and reliability will be amazing.
2
Do your research. Their flagship car you call made them lose money as sales were poor back in the day. They literally sat in lots for months. So they canceled the Supra.
2
They have a cult following, but it’s only in modified version. Most of the cult can’t afford it. Toyota could have built their own car. It would have cost 150k. Look at GTR and NSX. Plus those sales are also poor. R&D would have put Toyota at a half a billion minimum. They would lose 200 million just to sell at 60k. How many people you think would buy a 2 door sports coupe? They needed numbers of 200,000 units. Never would have happened. Learn all about R&D and building an assembly plant full of robots to mass produce. They knew the C8 mid engine was coming out so they scrapped the concept of building their own car. They are lucky they did. They have little investment in this one and they let BMW take the loss of it don’t sell. So far they are selling well. Toyota is in business to make money. Not to make internet people happy that can’t afford a 150k super car. Go look at the sales number of the GTR’s over the past 10 years. It’s real low. There are way too many cars on the market. Plus GM just leveled the market and dominated it. But GM will sell more C8’s the first year then GTR sold in a lifetime. Why is that? Cause their clients have money and their cult just buy them. Toyota knows from past with Supra and LFA that it’s too risky of an investment. They lost money back then and it will be worst this time. Production costs have gone up 400%. Also with all the used exotic market, it makes it even harder. The Supra diehard fans are only in the low 1000’s who actually have the money to buy the car. Even at 150k, it would be tough. A 50k bespoke car in the 90’s is now equivalent to 120k Plus now. Guys seem to think Toyota didn’t spend months analyzing the market and costs. They did everything and it couldn’t be done. Also the 2JZ engine is outdated and would never pass emissions. You’re talking about 1000’s of parts that have to be manufactured under the hood, let alone the chassis. When you have bespoke parts that can not be shared with other platforms, it raises the prices really high.
2
Terry Camara If you knew what R&D costs then you wouldn’t have asked the questions. Have a good day. I’m a very busy person too.
2
Hondas quality has gone up a lot.
2
Look at the civic. Now that grew a ton. Accord too.
1
@japanwatchconnectionExactly! People don’t understand a lot of people got hurt and killed in these cars. Safety was poor, handling was poor, brakes awful, and unibodies rotted out. The sheet metal on these were very thin. Nissan was known to have the thinnest sheet metal. They made this clutch hydraulic for a reason. The Stanza was cable clutch. The cable mechanism used to rip the metal firewall apart. I had a few Nissans that I had to repair the firewall with thicker sheet metal. Even when cars were only a few years old. I never touched Nissans after that. I was a Datsun loyalist too when I was younger. GTR is only good Nissan.
1
It goes back to the Rally days with the 5 cylinder Quattro. They destroyed the competition.
1
@zach_outcastid I totally agree. If one wants a manual, Elantra N is the one to get. Quality has improved a lot over the last couple years. The only civics worth buying are type R and Hybrid. I’m actually quite impressed with the hybrid. It actually caught me off guard. When I drove one, my expectations were zero, but after driving it for a bit, I came out rather impressed. I highly recommend it to anyone.
1
Black Magic I’ve had 2 friends order the C8 with no mark up. Lots of video on here with no mark up.
1
The new AWD ZR1 with 1000 hp will kill it.
1
Do you have an old Supra?
1
Brian Schooley If you had one these days and compare the fit and finish quality to even a Camry, you wouldn’t be impressed. It’s just an old car with crappy single stage paint that rubs off, a smell that you can’t get rid off from the chemicals in the dash materials, awful quality interior, panels don’t line up. Etc.
1
Brian Schooley Drive a stick one and a new one and it will totally change your mind. I’m not a GM fan, but will most likely get a new C8 Z06 when it comes out.
1
Toyota wanted to build their own, but it would have to sell for 125k plus. Look at GTR and NSX. They knew the C8 was coming and didn’t want to compete with it. GM won’t make a profit for 6 years.
1
04Interc3ptorP71 Stock yes it is. But tune the RS3 and they are in the 9’s.
1
Same happened with the last Supra too.
1
Toyota fans don’t buy expensive sports cars. Even in the past they barely sold Supras. Celiacs were barely selling so they even killed those off too. Toyota fans are about lower fit and finish with reliability in front. They are about cost savings. It’s about point A to point B without being flashy. Being conservative is the main goal. Toyota is going after a whole different market too. Customers that spend extra money on the fit and finish and people that love to mod their cars. Toyota has been studying the German car industry and want their buyers. People that are buying these cars are middle aged IT guys looking for a sports car. Most of them come from BMW’s, Audi’s, MB’s. Toyota knows it’s a way to get the German buyers to come in and look at their brands. Toyota will do very well with it. It’s the most controversial car now with lots of negativity from the non buyers who couldn’t afford it anyway. The real buyers look at the positive points of the car. They realize it’s a great car with lots of potential with a tune. They are the ones buying it.

LRulesTheWorld What car are you talking about?
1
LRulesTheWorld I did my whole building cars when I was younger. Now that I have money, I’d rather just buy something to my liking. I can still work on it if I desire. Next year I will put a bigger turbo on it and run mid 9’s in the quarter mile. Then drive it in the snow like any other AWD car. I don’t ever remember driving a 9 second car in the snow with such ease.
1
LRulesTheWorld You obviously have no clue. Cars have already been out for two years. Not one person on the forums have any issues. In fact some of us are pushing these cars extremely hard and are beyond amazed they are holding up so strong. I work on exotics a lot so I know all about great steering wheels. All you’re doing is making an assumptions without even owning the car. You probably have never even driven one or been in one. What are you even doing commenting in this post then.? They call that trolling.
1
LRulesTheWorld If you like old cars so much, then what are you doing trolling these comments? There is nothing wrong with new tech. You’re just too scared of change and probably can’t afford it. People who buy these cars are educated and have money. You will not convince one person that it’s a crap car like you think. You clearly have never been in one. New tech is what keeps the economy going. I’m all for supporting new tech and our economy.
1
Mongol IIIX Do you have an older one or have you ever driven an older one?
1
That’s what I thought. No comment!!!! Typical YouTube haters.
1
A22 year old vette? What are you talking about? Those were the biggest junks ever made.
1
Transmission is awful too.
1
Like what?
1
Majority all rotted out. They were a great car for its time though.
1
One equipped will cost 80k. Still a great deal.
1
John Kang Toyota will never be able to sell them at that price. My friend already got discount on his for when he gets it in a week. Dealer know they need to move them now due to the cancellations they have had. The C8 is hurting the sales already and it’s not even out yet.
1
New accord is much bigger.
1
That’s why they didn’t invest in production to build it on their own. The let BMW take the hit.
1
@Derek-pq3zb Nobody is driving these things over 80. It’s a quick commuter car that’s zippy for day to day driving. I wish the Si was like that.
1
mrpmj00 I’ve had Japanese cars in the past and I hated the tinny feel. Things rusting out, etc. interiors are cheap too. I went German cars and it feels like a night and day difference. I cannot go back to import cars. If I do go American, I will go for a C8 Z06.
1
Cars are actually selling well. Internet haters are funny. They have so much hate and negativity.
1
Mark my word, it will be the hottest selling sports car, exotic car, track car, muscle car in history.
1
My friend is a manager at a GM dealer and he is overwhelmed by all the people contacting them in when they can order one. He said he has never seen anything like it before. He has been there for 10 years too.
1
Smooth Operator a Genesis and a C8 are 1000 universes apart. You will see more of them on the road then any other sports car period. There will be over 1000 videos of them with in 6 months. It will probably get tiring seeing so many. But it will be the best bang for you buck. Period...... under 300,000.
1
It’s a beginners car or a commuter car for enthusiasts.
1
@threepac Type R is a performance sedan and also a collectors car. All of them have gone up in resale more than new msrp. Look at 18’s. Msrp was mid 30’s. Used ones are now 40-50k. My buddy got his 23 Type R for 45k. He sold it last year for 52k with 8k on it. Type R is not meant to be a daily car. It’s a track enthusiast car. It’s very stiff for daily driving. The Acura Integra Type S is better for daily driving. Its suspension module is much more compliant for roads. You can change out suspension module in type R to a type S. From Race to Sport. Si is a cheap daily driver car.
1
Peder Hansen Please tell me what cars are better for the price! I’ll sit here and wait.
1
Peder Hansen That’s only based on speculations. Both will be great cars. Do realize that GM has tons of hours driving on the new C8. They have tested everything known to fail. Do some research. The first year is already sold out. If you want a C8, order one and you’ll probably not get one till 2021. The Supra is a great car too and much easier to obtain. The dealers have to stop with the mark ups. One dealer is getting 120k over sticker. It’s never gonna happen. Supra will be more rare too. The C8 will be 100 to one for Supra. C8 will be the most common sports car. It will go down in history as the fastest selling sports car in history. Mark my word on it.
1
Peder Hansen Have you ever driven a C7? It was an impressive car. Do realize the GM has the most reliable small block Chevy pushrod engine. A Tremec transmission which is top rated. Only thing I worry is cosmetics and two of my friends that seen it in person say it’s amazing quality. Unlike anything they ever built.
1
Peder Hansen Two of my friends just got their launch editions. No mark up cause they know the dealers. Either way, the cars come with warranty. Let’s not forget issues with BMW’s too. I’m a bmw fan and I know that they are not reliable at all. I gave up on BMw and went Audi. Let’s not forget the Vanos is now on the back of the B58 engine and not the front anymore. A common thing to break. Do research. I’m not a GM fan at all and could care less about American cars, but if I had to bet money on which one will last the longest under heavy abuse, the GM would get my pick. It’s the fit and finish is what worries me about them. GM spent thousands of hours on cooling system too. They literally dissected different brand exotic cars and learned everything that is a huge must for a mid engine layout. Resale, the Supra might do better. The C8 will be so over mass produced that in 2 years they will be everywhere for sale when the Z06 comes out.
