Watching all the institutions which are the pillars of society all fall from grace one by one is terrifying. The first shoe to drop was probably the media, people figured out a while ago how corrupt they are. Then came the politicians, watergate didn't help. But hey, we had the military and supreme court we could trust right? Then we had the Iraq war, watched all the human rights abuses then watched Libya get destroyed for no reason and we're like "wow all we have left is the supreme court" Well seems like that is being taken away as an institution which can be trusted as well. All pillars of society, falling one by one.

Our deployment there is pure and utter insanity, smack dab in the middle of a civil war where all the sides don't want them there. If someone decided to have a real go at our boys there, there are only 900 of them. We'd never get there in time to stop it. But it seems to me that is why they're there. To be used as bait of some kind incase the neocons want to spark a war and use their deaths as the rallying cry. The more you learn about it, the more it makes you sick to your stomach.

@FINNSTIGAT0R People here in America have zero trust in anything our establishment characters in government have to say. So anything these foreign policy expert types say is seen as bullshit in large segments of American society.
1
@FINNSTIGAT0R I think you're quite confused (as usual as I've seen you in comments sections before) Why would I need to go "check for myself?" I'm not the one who called the video bullshit. Someone else did. I merely explained to you why they're calling it bullshit. I see you having an emotional meltdown all over youtube over this Sweden/Finland being vetoed fiasco. Still not being able to come to terms with the reality of why this is happening to them and how it is a self inflicted wound.
1
@FINNSTIGAT0R It isn't your linguistic errors or grammar which are the issue. It is your ideas which seem detached from reality. Also I've already explained why in America people call out anything the foreign policy establishment says to be "bullshit." It's simply how people feel. Living in Finland I wouldn't expect you to understand that. You don't live in a country where your country has dragged you off to war on lies that you no longer believe anything foreign policy experts ever say.
1
@FINNSTIGAT0R Like I said earlier I've seen you on different threats regarding the issue. You seem to argue the issue as if Turkey has absolutely zero reason to veto Sweden and they're simply doing it because they feel like it. It's a pretty delusional opinion to have. Sweden is going to be left out of Nato due to some actions they've taken. As for Finland if they continue with this "take us both or none of us" attitude they're going to be left out as well.
1
@FINNSTIGAT0R Well isn't it Finland's choice when they say "take us both or don't take either." Because at the end of the day I don't really see any nation on this planet being part of a collective defense agreement and not being against the admission of a nation which is financing the bombings of schools and hospitals into your organization. Or any other nation who says they will join with them or not join at all. Fact of the matter is that Finland has to make a choice here. Sweden at this point is not getting into Nato. Be left out in the cold with Sweden, or negotiate separately and get in. I don't know man, both these nations have really painted themselves into a corner. Bad leadership?
1
@FINNSTIGAT0R Finland dragged themselves into it by making statements like "This is a joint bid." Or statements like "both nations have to be taken in." I think you're failing to realize just how adamant Sweden and Finland are about both being taken in together. I agree with you that the Turks are being ridiculous by lumping in Finland with this mess. But the Fins aren't helping matters either. They could easily throw Sweden under the bus and negotiate separately while condemning what Sweden has been up to. That would work, it's simply not something your politicians are willing to do. Normally I would think this about leaders of nations but I was rather surprised when Finish and Swedish leaders seemed "shocked" they were being threatened by a veto. The fact they didn't see this coming from 10 miles away shows how naive they are about the world and how it works. Me personally I'd like to see both these nations under the Nato umbrella but it seems the leadership in both nations simply can't read the cards properly and are drowning in their own cognitive dissonance. I'm not sure so about Sweden but Finland is still a nation with a proper democracy and proper freedoms for the people. Vote in better leaders.

@FINNSTIGAT0R I appreciate the explanation as to why Finns feel the way they do about Swedes, it helps me understand the situation better. But the situation is that Sweden did what it did and Turkey feels a certain way about it. How the Finns feel about Sweden isn't going to change that fact. Foreign policy based on feelings is also a huge disservice to the citizens of that country. Being so close to Russia is one thing, being that close and not getting into Nato but applying for Nato puts a country in a very very dangerous position to be in. Being in a situation like that you'd think a nation would have more rational and calculating leadership. Me personally I don't think Russia would invade Finland or Sweden but imagine they did? How silly will all the reasons these two nations were kept out of Nato seem at that point? I'd also ask Sweden at that point "if it was worth it." Then I'd ask Finland if their feelings for Sweden were worth it. Sweden is probably going to descend into chaos anyway in the next 40 years with or without a war with Russia. But Finland? From what I know Finland is a fantastic place with a very bright future. It would be horrible to see what happened to Ukraine happen to Finland. Sitting around blaming the Turks isn't going to really help the situation either. In fact all this rhetoric which doesn't take into account the rationality of their position is doing nothing but harden their position on the issue. If I were in their shoes, I'd probably do the same exact thing, most rational humans would. Although I'm not sure I'd drag Finland into the mess. From the research I've done (limited to google searches) I couldn't find any information of Finland sending financial aid to groups that blow up schools and hospitals (which you can agree is an INSANE thing to do.)
1
@FINNSTIGAT0R I'm a nobody, just someone who reads a lot about what is going on around the world. Even I knew Sweden was going to get vetoed, yet the Swedes themselves seem to have been shocked at this development. It shocks me that some random hack like me sitting in America saw this coming and the entire government of that country didn't? Didn't the Finnish government also know what some nobody like me seemed to know about Sweden getting vetoed and perhaps worry it might have a spill over effect on them? This sounds like outright insanity to me. If I lived in either of these nations I'd be hot skipping mad about my government's inability to analyze the real world. My government has done some horrible things but I don't ever remember thinking they did it because they didn't know any better. All the terrible things done like the invasion of Iraq and the destabilization of many poor third world nations were done with cold hard calculated rational. I could complain about what my government has done in certain instances but I've never felt that they were idiots who had no idea what was going on. That would be an outright terrifying thought.
1
@FINNSTIGAT0R Well I'm sure you are very happy right now. Sweden really pushed this to the last minute. Taking this as far as it could take hoping to join Nato and still have the ability to finance armed groups which blow up schools and hospitals. When the last minute came, they eventually caved in and in unhappy fashioned signed a memorandum promising to stop financial aid for such groups. They were lucky Turkey didn't take the issue much farther (Most nations would have taken it farther) and now Sweden and Finland can join Nato. If only Sweden hadn't been so damned stubborn about these armed groups this entire fiasco could have probably been avoided. Either way all is well that ends well. Sweden and Finland Nato members.
1
@FINNSTIGAT0R It was nice to see Sweden backdown and do what was necessary. Arming terrorists or get into Nato, it was a really difficult decision for them to make 🤣

Because the establishment is terrified they'll lose their grip on power if the people are disgruntled enough. Considering the purpose of this meeting is of matters that same establishment handles, it makes sense increasing oil production in the United States will be at the heart of nearly every discussion involving domestic and foreign policy.

If we went isolationist, how else are the big wigs going to make billions for doing nothing? The war machine is firmly in control.
1
@mnemonija He can't because it is obvious he answers to a nation not called the United States of America. His boss serves the interests of a foreign power.
