I've done that as well, and that's the point. When cooking you have to concentrate and multi-task. I don't even answer the phone, or tell them I will call back when I get to a stopping point. He did well for his age. We have appliances to make things easier, but not to do the thinking for us! That was not the mum, she is a serious cook, like the Ramen Man.

I agree, there is no color or happy pictures on the walls, it seems too serious although they are cheerful people.

Yet another great vid, but I have to say that I would be afraid of getting lost. Those people in those small towns don't speak English and as much as they would want to help me, they could not. Lord what about an accident or some other unforeseen misfortune? Also I like to talk to the local people and could not. This was nice, but for YOU. Ha, HA!
6
This chart is (7) SEVEN years old.

I liked the Pizza Man too, remember that guy? He also seems to really like the kids too. I wonder if they still go to his restaurant... I hope this guy can get some good help so he can spend time on himself and his family too.
5
For that reason I used to use them at this really good Chinese buffet, just to slow down, but you will be surprised how fast you will become an expert at Chetoos inhalation and chopsticks. Just keep the bottom one still, the top one does the work.
5
Greg it is all your pick, but please don't report on what is inside of this American's fridge.
5
Finally I see how it works. First you come in and buy a ticket from the vending machine, then pay and order at the same time.. That way you don't have the cooks touching all that dirty money and making change or have the money on the counter tops. This is efficient too.

Just wondering Greg if you use the tub soaking that often since you are Canadian and not used to doing it? I think that I would do the soak thing very rarely, just as a novelty since I am not used to it. I would just stick to doing the daily showers instead. The bath even seems like too much of a bother to me now.
4
Since the culture is so different there, the planning considerations there are also much different, it is all soooo interesting.
4
he did, see main channel.
4
@LifeWhereImFrom I would have shied away from this one, but really why not show it? It is certainly ok to have an opinion though.
4
Lots of talk about Ginger, but he didn't even mention Maryann.
4
I made those Swedish meatballs from Food Wishes channel. Those have allspice and nutmeg in them and there is a little cream in the brown sauce. I even got the Loganberry jam (didn't know what it was). Chef John also just baked them in a very hot oven, which makes it easier. Wow are those things GOOOOOD!
4
Greg, yet another great vid, thanks. I just wonder how your kids are doing. At their ages, they are probably completely wrapped up in their own individual interests. Personally I don't think cooking is a male or female thing at all. Regardless of gender, some people get it and some people just don't.
4
We didn't mean a bunch of colors which can be entirely too much especially in small rooms. But I agree it is overall very nice as is, just different.
3
Marion Mielke I don't know how many people are going to do this minimizing of waste voluntarily. There is no incentive to change these habits and more encouragement to keep up buying over-packaged products, at least here in the U.S.
3
Perry Liim If anybody believes that Aiko is anything short of perfect there is something wrong with the way they think.. I promise you that she is completely perfect.
3
+Life Where I'm From "Greg Goes Grocery" That will be an EPIC, I am so excited!
3
Greg didn't use much of your tape or maybe there wasn't that much. I liked what I saw though.
3
I never thought of that, most homes in US have allot of extra space, thank you.
3
I don't think Greg will answer you but if you go to his channel he goes over all of his equipment in many of the vids. He might have one dedicated to this alone.
3
So you have a full room on the first and second floor that are storage? I wonder what you would do without these 2 store rooms. Could you store things in the garage?
3
Ahorita todos estan en Canada visitando a la familia del papa unos meses.
3
ORRRR... Maybe we could have transportation like Japan?
3
You saw that tower too? Ha, Ha, I want 2 of them.
3
Aiko doesn't stop smiling at all in the video, I guess that means that she likes doing this? BTW, Aiko pronounces Avril better than her daddy.
3
Greg, good to see you have so many supporters and you of anybody deserve them. As I have said so many times, you are a natural filmmaker. Also good to see you don't have 98% female viewers, JAPAN is not completely about gender, neither are any of your vids. I am an old school liberal, live and let live, no problems and be friends. Yet, Canadians would take issue with that. So very sad.
3
"Nationalists" AF. They make Richard Spencer look accepting. The Japanese have every right to be exclusive. I am sure that MOST are not nasty and hateful. Uh, Look at Israel, that requires a DNA test for marriage, for a good example.
3
Ya mean that there are no geisha girls that greet you at the airport with cherry blossoms, year round???? Somebody lied to me! I waited to watch this one because the tittle sounded painfully boring. I was wrong again.
3
@lequinntessential I didn't see that. Daddy probably didn't either. Mum probably wasn't there. She is a YOUNG lady, could make mistakes every so often.
3
Greg I hate that word too. So hard to pronounce, but let me give you a tip. Say, were- CHEST- a- sure. Hope that helps.
3
I doesn't seem too much different than here. Don't they take a nap?
2
Raven Moore, I understood exactly what you said. And I realize that you were not criticizing either, like me you just wondered about it.
2
Since you are an Urban Planner then you should know what a buffer is. Right?
2
Marion Mielke That is a great system and is something that they should have in the U.S. but don't forget that the corporations make the laws here. In fact they write the "news".
2
Well so??? Maybe Santa is just the manager for the three kings in Spain and only a few people know it.
2
***** I like it too but I am not one to judge it technically. It sure looks good though. I did notice how he realizes that he is filming a congested little box so he films the train and the environs, etc. If he didn't do this it would be allot of close ups and it would feel claustrophobic. The story is good too. It is just about a noodle shop but he made it interesting.
2
No this is not a matter of loving antiques, the older style is just more interesting. A new house built in the old style would be ideal. That is not what I am saying.
2
Yeah, I can't stand nasty comments either. This is a pleasant and interesting channel, which is unusual. You obviously could get a very high paying job in TV or movies there but I agree that it wouldn't be worth it. Thanks!
2
A very interesting video would be how you go to the grocery store. I guess your wife would know what she is buying, but what if you don't have a car?
2
OK< yeah, I see what you mean. I was also going to warn against trying to make subtitles too perfect. They do take forever to do and they can never be perfect.
2
Yes VERY interested here! I just subscribed so when you do your own vids. Thanks.
2
That older house that Aiko showed with the tiny courtyard was really nice. It kind of had a porch and the rooms had some views out and paper walls/screens. That older style was the best IMO. Are those the VERY expensive ones?
2
Many American families usually own 2 cars and I would think the property taxes are higher as well. Those are also big expenses that you do not have either.
2
Wow 6 cars is expensive for repairs and insurance.
2
LuvTheQueen 155 Yeah sorry I meant, other videos, it is How Sushi restaurants get you to buy and buy. That was a good one IMO.
2
Yeah I just subscribed to Ninja Monkey, and am waiting.
2
Greg could you go to some of these older out of the way country houses as part of your real estate series? Yes it would be very interesting to see them and the prices.
2
That is what he has been doing for 5 years, thinking it would "rub off" and as he complains, it hasn't worked. I love Greg and his respect his talented film making, so I remark only out of friendship. Greg is SMART. And Japanese is certainly not easy to learn, as he points out. I am bilingual, and had to learn it, so maybe I am speaking out of turn and speaking what worked for me, so it is just my suggestions. I have no .doubt that he can master it, but needs to change his method. This anint workin'.
