They only freeze and secure the assets to prevent Russia from accessing the liquid assets. The West can't seize or nationalize them without compensation or civil forfeiture in a court proceeding.

That's because it would get destroyed and embarrassed by the US. That's the only reason they've been kept from taking part of China. Syria and Russia failed their own people and should take responsibility rather than blaming their own civil war on the US. That would be like the US blaming Syria for the way the US government managed the Covid-19 pandemic.

You're confusing the CCP with being imperialist like the US. They're trying to grow their economy and dominant their own region, not the world. The reason the US and British Empire could project power around the globe was because they had allies, colonies, and client states. China and Russia don't have enough allies willing to allow them to take over defense and security like the US does on nearly every continent.

  36.  @aslampervez2294  Germany is already under America, Britain, and France's "nuclear umbrella." The only country to ever use nuclear weapons during a war was the United States. They're only effective on the battleground when a nation has a nuclear monopoly. That's not the present situation with so many nuclear-armed nations it can quickly escalate. Any nuclear weapon launched from Russia will automatically be considered an attack on the United States. There's no tactical advantage of using them to pre-emptively strike a NATO country. The full-military response and retaliation from the US and other NATO countries would likely be to target all Russian force within Ukraine and destroy them using only conventional weapons.

  37.  @Omega0850  They have a long history of not being expansionist. The West has tried to get the CCP to intervene in North Korea, Russia, and geopolitical crisis around the world. I know they do lie and hide information, but they've always said China doesn't interfere in the affairs of other countries and would like the same treatment. They do have a goal of regional dominance and having access to trade routes not dependent on chock points in the Indian Ocean and the Pacific, but global dominance and hegemony is more of behavior seen from American and European powers.

  48. Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Mainland China are technically one country. The problem with Taiwan is that the original Republic of China relocated there after the civil war. It's a small island, but Mainland China would lose and get embarrassed if they tried to invade because it's not as easy to take it as it look. Unless they get assurance that the US won't intervene, China won't try and take it.
