There's no German Reich (Now 🇷🇺) expanding eastward (Crimea + E. Ukraine) or an anti-fascist alliance of the Soviet Union (🇺🇦) and Western democracies (🇺🇲🇬🇧🇪🇺🇨🇦) to be the analogous to the United Nations (NATO).

  6. I get the point about being concerned about the CCP, but Taiwanese people are Chinese. They were originally the Republic of China before the civil war and the communist took over. You could call the Beijing government illegitimate, but Taiwan, mainland China, and Hong Kong are people of China.

  16. You need to provide more proof if you want to blame the CIA for regime changes in the Ukraine and Russia. Yes, this coincides with the recently inaugurated Biden Administration, but there was an even larger anti-government protest in White Russia ("Belarus") before the US election. The common link with Belarus and this protest could be the two governments response to the Covid-19 pandemic and economic problems. US foreign policy has never been to incite uprising and instability in Russia. Putin may be an adversary to the US, but he's predictable and the US has never supported removing him.

The Kremlin announced their plans to take Kyiv on three days and de-nazify the Ukrainian Government. They've failed at that, and are now having to defend against economic warfare of the West. Russia is trying to get any win as a face-saving measure.

The sanctions are sending the Russian economy into a recession. Neither China nor India can replace that the EU. China has the third-largest economy. The US and EU are bigger.

I don't know what you're talking about. China doesn't even know where its economy will be in 2050, so how are you able to get this type of forecasting? Japan probably thought they would still have the growth from the 70/80s, too. Europe and the US are old money, and the growth is stable. We can predict where the US will be that far in the future. Regardless of what happens in China, Russia is already screwed. It doesn't matter what strategy they use to bypass sanctions, the US and EU will keep plugging whatever loophole the Russians try to use. Russia is not only getting sanctioned, it is economic warfare. The US froze about $300 billion in Russian Central Bank assets and any type of international deals Russia arranges will be targeted for more sanctions or get sabotaged. Life is not good now for normal Russians.

  35. We've used Real GDP for decades to compare countries. The PPP doesn't make sense to compare the CCPs defense spending versus the US. PPP would only show that China is spending less as a percentage of GDP.

  45. Well said. The US should already be partially mobilizing like during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The worst that could happen is that the Kremlin is only bluffing, but there shouldn't be any type of nuclear surprise without a well-prepared NATO response.
