Detroit revitalization has a long way to go.
13
We'll see how E. Palestine, OH does.
13
The streets are in about the same condition as everywhere in PA: A little smooth pavement, then tobacco road.
12
I love the dirt road lined with dumpsters yet all the trash is on the ground. I feel sorry for the dogs.
12
Blacks live in their cars.
12
Most buildings seem kept up and not much trash around. One big factory shuttered. Imagine all the jobs that once held.
12
Just another reminder to stay out of Philadelphia. As usual, many expensive cars and cars with no license plates. why would anyone buy a nice car and park it in a neighborhood like this?
12
What day of the week is this? Everyone I see is standing around doing nothing. I see a lot of expensive cars: Mercedes, Cadillac, monster pickup trucks. I work every day and don't have any of those.
12
Detroit remains the champion of urban decay. No doubt about it.
11
If you do it bring a gun. You have no idea who you might meet in these hoods.
11
Why the hell didn't you buy a new battery?
11
Any one of these black dudes could walk through a white neighborhood alone and no one would bother him. Let's see a white guy walk through this neighborhood.
11
A lot of these homes look like cheap construction to begin with. Now they sit empty, falling apart. I'm glad I don't live there.
11
I'm trying to imagine these guys as middle aged, productive citizens. What's going to become of them? Who's going to build businesses and run this country?
11
I can't believe all the litter What's wrong with people to live like that? Although some places looked as if they'd been cleaned up a bit.
11
Lori Lightfoot runs a great city. Everyone keeps voting for her.
11
Now and then I wonder if Detroit is getting any better. It doesn't appear to be.
11
Obviously all of Detroit isn't bad. I'd bet a lot of these homes are old money; people that have been wealthy a long time and were not effected by the downturn in the auto industry. I see a few of the houses are for sale. I wonder how they feel about "the other side of town?"
10
I believe New Orleans and Louisiana are so corrupt the federal government doesn't even want to bother sending any aid. The money just evaporates. No money's going into the roads. That's obvious. People should demand better.
10
As if the abandoned buildings aren't bad enough there's all the trash thrown out along the sidewalks. I don't see that in other depressed cities and towns. Congratulations on re-electing Gretchen Whitmer, MI. None of this is going to change.
10
Detroit remains the champion of urban decay. No place in America should look like this.
10
I wonder what kind of car Charlie Boo has? He sure runs the hell out of it. Thanks for bringing us all the views of different cities throughout the country.
10
True that!
10
Government puts up "affordable housing" and residents trash that, too.
10
CharlieBo's getting brave. He better be careful.
10
Same old story. Loss of industry and loss of jobs, then government moves the trash in.
10
Sherwood Forest in Detroit looked very inviting, but Buckhead, Atlanta blows it away. Some of those homes look like schools, not even houses. If that old guy at 5:25 in Bankhead hasn't made it by now, I don't think he's going to. He was just like the young ones he's talking to at one time. What happened? Life passed him by.
9
No difference. Uniparty.
9
Everything was fine until GM shut down Buick City.
9
I always think about that when watching these urban decay videos. People in America shouldn't have to live like this eve if you are poor. But don't forget how many new apartment complexes have been built then the residents trash them. IF you did a lot for these people, would they appreciate it?
9
What do people that still live here do for a livelihood? Judging by the size and construction of many of the homes, this must have been an extremely prosperous area at one time built mostly on the auto industry. How did we let it all slip away? It's a disgrace an city in the USA should look like this.
9
I always see so many expensive cars curbside and some with no license plate. Strange.
9
GM's "Buick City" was the largest and oldest site in the corporation; 250 acres. After spending millions to renovate and upgrade it, they shut it down and demolished everything. There went all the jobs and there goes the town. What a shame. Where's Gretchen Whitmer?
9
Not great but not as bad as Detroit. The buildings that are boarded up don't appear to have been vandalized. There isn't tons of trash thrown around all over the place. I see a lot of nice cars. Apparently the residents can afford them.
9
Lots of urban prairie that certainly was homes and businesses at one time. there was one huge industry that appears to be closed. Overall not nearly as bad as Detroit, but lots of abandoned places and not many people around.
9
I remember hearing about LA-Watts decades ago and it was bad then.
9
One thing in common between the two neighborhoods: Everyone's black.
8
Both lost the auto industry and the jobs.
8
It looks as bad as Detroit. Buick City used to be here: A 250 acre site that once employed tens of thousands of people. Now it's closed and torn down.
8
Keep voting for democrats, NY!
8
Darryl: The democrats love keepin the blacks down on the plantation and they don't even realize it. Keep them dependent on meager government handouts in the form of welfare and food stamps, and they've got the votes. The black man needs to rise up against this exploitation. A conservative, self-reliant black man or woman is the democrats worst nightmare.
8
As a school bus driver myself I can't imagine driving through hoods like this picking up kids.
8
How many of these people are unemployed? Why don't they start neighborhood crime watches and work on cleaning up all the trash? I see some people got together and made a fence out of used tires. That's a good thing. At least some people got off there asses and did something.
8
I think Camden makes this look upscale.
8
Some of the brick houses are probably structurally sound and could be renovated. They're better built than a lot of new homes.
8
Sometimes I wonder if things are getting better in Detroit. I guess not.
8
Shame on America for allowing any part of the country to deteriorate to this! The open spaces must have been houses that were torn down with rubble removed, but there's still much to be done. Then there's always a few people hanging on, keeping up their homes and still living there.Detroit is certainly the king of urban decay. All the work and resources that went into building this neighborhood and now it's come to this. What a shame.
8
I think you're right.
8
Yeah? Where? How about that power clean this place up? All that trash!
8
Competition from foreign car manufacturers and bad management on the part of the Big 3 didn'' help, either.
