  5. I can understand if the papers were somehow packed up accidentally, and I can even understand Trump wanting to keep "love letters" from Kim Jong. But, once Trump and his attorneys were made aware the boxes contained documents that had to be returned, why didn't his attorneys just return them? The FBI was there in June and Trump wouldn't allow the agents to take them even though they had a subpoena. It seems this whole thing could have been avoided by just sending it giving them back. Has there been any coverage about this b/c I can't find any?

While I am personally in favor of placing restrictions, like being over 21yo, on the sale of semi-auto, high-powered rifles and placing limitations on those with prior felony convictions involving a firearm from being able to purchase future firearms, I 100% agree with this SCOTUS decision. People purchasing legal firearms should NOT have to provide, show or prove any type of specific need in order to make the purchase -- Self-defense and protection of property being implied already meets the need, and if it didn't, the 2A would have included wording saying so. FULL STOP.

  12.  @joshlock4627  Regardless of thoughts on guilt or innocence and evidence aside, this assistant DA should never have been assigned this case. But, since he was and even though it doesn't happen often, I'm very surprised his boss, the DA, didn't do some employee shuffling and have co-counsel take the lead roll even midway through. Whenever there's obvious friction between an attorney, esp the prosecutor, and the judge in a case, it's best to have your co-counsel take a more prominent position. When there is attorney-judge friction it's usually with a member of the defense not the state.

  16. Actually, there is a bit more context needed. Regardless of anyone's thoughts on guilt or innocence, the attorney the witness consulted with before turning in his video woeks in the same small firm as Rittenhouse's attorney. That actually does bring up the question of credibility. It's a valid legal question. It's been a long time since I've seen a prosecutor perform this poorly, but his line of questioning with this witness is something nearly any DA or ADA would have done.

As for Trump just taking the advice of his attorneys, who is going to tell the jurors this? Trump won't be taking the stand and his attorneys are the co-conspirators. They're not going to testify against themselves.

  24. Or maybe, we can roll back all the tax cuts the top 2% have gotten since 1980. Someone making millions pays approx 8% in federal taxes. Someone earning $50k pays 28%. Tell me how that's fair. The wealth gap we now have started during Reagan's first term and has continuously and substantially grown since. Trickle down economics does not work for anyone except the top 2%. Since Reagan, politicians and the top 2% have tried to convince the middle that it's the fault of the bottom 20%. It is not. They're gearing up to sunset social security and Medicare because to pay for the wealthy tax cuts. If you are under 60yo, you need to be very careful how you vote next year.

However, the current, sitting president has full authority, actually the only authority, to waive the executive privilege for things that took place under a prior administration. It's the entire reason we heard the Nixon tapes. If Nixon had retained executive privilege over discussion held while he was in office, the public STILL would not know most if what took place. Additionally, Executive Privilege cannot be involved by the sitting president in order to cover up criminal actions/activities. If a former POTUS retains his/her Executive Privilege even after leaving office, our judicial system would have no way of ever prosecuting any crimes by perpetrators already out of WH. Governor's also hold Executive Privilege. If could have been invoked to cover up or to hide a crime, Blagovich could never have been prosecuted in IL.
